The Show

Mrs Krishnan’s Party will run approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes with no intermission. At the end of the show, you are invited to have a plate of dhal that has been cooked by Mrs Krishnan during the performance. People just can’t get enough of this smart, funny show.

Step into the backroom of Mrs Krishnan’s corner shop where garlands decorate the ceiling, music flows, and Mrs Krishnan is throwing a party like no other. Food simmers on the stove, laughter abounds, and strangers become friends in this joyous celebration of life. Watch the actors juggle cooking, music, and guests in an unfolding drama where no two nights of the show are the same. Kalyani Nagarajan and Justin Rogers have reviewers singing their praises and audiences leaping to their feet in appreciation.

While Mrs Krishnan’s Party will have you laughing from the moment you arrive, the subtle themes of the show hide a deeper message, prompting audiences to consider the true meaning of family, life’s purpose and grappling with change.

  • The set is comprised of a table surrounded by ten chairs, a kitchen bench, and a wall structure with stairs leading up to a small platform, which make up the back room of a convenience store.
  • The wall structure is mirrored on the other side of the stage without stairs. The walls are covered in wallpaper and have a curtain between them.
  • Red garlands hang from the ceiling, and fairy lights that hang around the space are turned on at different times throughout the second half of the show to resemble constellations or support the story, or as party decoration.
