DANGER Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

IMPORTANT!
Do not place an empty cooking pot on the appliance or allow a filled pot to boil dry while appliance is in operation.

DANGER

  • NEVER leave this appliance unattended when in use.
  • NEVER operate this appliance within 10 feet (3.05 meters) from any structure, combustible material, or other gas cylinder.
  • NEVER operate this appliance within 25 feet (7.6 meters) from any flammable liquid.
  • DO NOT fill the cooking pot beyond maximum fill line.
  • Never allow oil or grease to get hotter than 350°F or 177°C, If the temperature exceeds 350°F (177°C) or if oil begins to smoke, immediately turn the burner or gas supply OFF.
  • Never perform a leak test while the cooker is in use or while cooker is still hot.
  • Heated liquid remains at scalding hot temperature long after the cooking process. Never touch the cooking appliance until the liquid has cooled to 115°F (46°C) or less.
  • If a fire should occur, keep away from the appliance and immediately call your fire department.
  • Do not attempt to extinguish an oil or grease fire with water.

NOTE: Failure to follow these instructions could result in fire or explosion, which could cause property damage, personal injury, or death.

DANGER

  • If you smell gas: If possible, immediately turn off gas supply to the appliance by turning the Propane tank valve clockwise (right).
  • If this cannot be accomplished safely, immediately get away from the appliance and contact the fire department (e.g. 911). Extinguish any open flame, use an approved fire extinguisher.
  • Always have an approved extinguisher on hand when using this product. A Class “B” dry chemical or “CO2” extinguisher or preferably a Class “K” extinguisher. Special care must be taken to understand the manufacturers instructions and be prepared to operate the appropriate extinguisher prior to using this appliance.
  • If you continue to smell gas, immediately contact the fire department (e.g. 911) and do not go near the appliance.

Wash your hands after handling this product.

  • The installation must conform with local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with either the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA 8149.1, or Propane Storage and Handling Code, 8149.2.

  • The appliance shall not be used on or under any apartment or condominium balcony or deck.

  • The appliance shall be used outdoors only and shall not be used inside a building garage or any other enclosed space.

  • This appliance is not intended to be installed or used in or on a recreational vehicle or boat.

  • Ensure there is a minimum of 10 feet (3.05 m) distance between combustible materials and the sides and back of the appliance. Do not place or use the appliance under overhead unprotected combustible materials.

  • Keep the fuel supply hose away from any heated surfaces.

  • Keep at least 24-inch distance between the appliance and cylinder.

  • This appliance is for outdoor use only and should only be operated in a well-ventilated space.

  • The use of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs might impair the user’s ability to properly assemble or safely operate the appliance.

  • When cooking with oil or grease, have a type BC or ABC fire extinguisher readily available. In the event of an oil or grease fire, DO NOT attempt to extinguish with water. Immediately call the FIRE DEPARTMENT. A Type BC or ABC fire extinguisher may, in some circumstances be used to contain the fire.

  • In the event of rain, snow, hail, sleet, or other forms of precipitation while cooking with oil or grease, cover the cooking vessel immediately and turn off the appliance burners and gas supply. DO NOT attempt to move the appliance or cooking vessel.

  • When cooking, the appliance fryer/boiler MUST BE ON A LEVEL, STABLE AND NON-COMBUSTIBLE SURFACE in an area clear of combustible material. Asphalt, wood, dry grass or leaves, vinyl, plastic surfaces are not acceptable for operating this appliance. These surfaces are combustible, and may melt or catch fire.

  • Keep children and pets away from the appliance at all times.

  • Use caution when placing anything in the cooking pot while the appliance is in use as oil or grease may splash out from the pot.

  • If stored indoors, disconnect and leave the LP cylinder outdoors.

  • This appliance is not intended for and should never be used as a heater.

  • When cooking with oil or grease, an oil thermometer MUST be used.

  • This appliance will be HOT during and after use.
    Use insulated oven mitts or gloves for protection from hot surfaces or splatter from cooking liquids.

  • It is recommended to use the cooking pot less than 30 qt. capacity & 12-inch diameter. POT LARGER THAN THE COOKING CAPACITY MAY RESULT IN TIPPING.

  • Never overfill the cooking pot with oil, grease, or water more than the level specified by themanufacturer’s instructions.

DANGER
Read and follow the LP TANK instructions before/while using this appliance. Failure to follow these warnings could result in fire or explosion causing damages to property, injury, or death.

  • The safety release valve on the LP tank could lead to gas leakage and cause a severe fire and increase the risk of serious injury or death. If the steps below are not followed exactly, a fire causing personal injury or death can occur.
  • NEVER store a spare LP gas cylinder under or near this appliance.
  • NEVER fill the cylinder over 80 percent full.
  • If you smell, see, or hear leaking gas, IMMEDIATELY move away from the LP tank and contact your FIRE DEPARTMENT.

LP TANK REMOVAL, TRANSPORT, AND STORAGE:

  • Turn the control knobs OFF at the regulator and LP tank valve.
  • Turn coupling nut counterclockwise by hand only.

NEVER use tools to disconnect.

  • Place dust cap on the cylinder valve outlet when the cylinder is not in use.

HINT : Only install the type of dust cap on the cylinder valve outlet that is provided with the cylinder valve. Other types of caps or plugs could cause leakage.

  • A disconnected LP tank in storage or being transported must fitted with a safety cap installed.

NEVER leave the LP tank in a car that can become overheated by the sun.

  • LP tanks must be stored outdoors out of the reach of children and must not be stored in a building, garage, or any other enclosed space.
  • Do not smoke when transporting your LP cylinder.

LP. TANK REQUIREMENT
The LP tank must meet the following requirements in order to be used with your appliance:

  • A dented or rusty L.P. tank may be hazardous and should be checked by your L.P. supplier.

  • Never use a cylinder with a damaged valve.

  • Measurements must be 12″ (30.5 cm) in diameter by 18″ (45.7 cm) high with 20 lb. (9.1 kg) maximum capacity.

  • The LP gas supply cylinder must be constructed and marked in accordance with the specifications for LP gas cylinders of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) or the National Standard of Canada (CAN/CSA-8339), Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.

  • QCC Type 1 outlet compatible with regulator or appliance.

  • Safety relief valve.

  • UL listed Overfill Protection Device (OPD).
    This safety device is identified as the triangular hand wheel. Only use tanks equipped with this type of valve.

  • LP tank must be arranged for vapor withdrawal and include collar that protects the LP tank valve.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LP)

  • LP gas is odorless, non-toxic, and colorless when produced. For your safety, LP gas has been given an artificial odor (similar to rotten eggs) so you can smell if there is any leakage.
  • LP gas is highly flammable and can unexpectedly ignite when combined with the air.

The LP tank must be installed, transported, and stored in an upright, secure position. LP tanks should not be dropped or handled roughly.

Inspect the Tank

  • Leak test must be repeated each time the LP tank is exchanged or refilled.
  • Inspect the tank valve, including the internal rubber seal for damage or debris. If damaged, return tank to local retailer.
  • DO NOT smoke or have anything nearby that can easily ignite, such as lighters or matches.
  • DO NOT use an open flame to check for gas leaks.
  • The appliance must be leak checked outdoors in a well-ventilated area away from open flames or sparks.

REMOVE any pots or other cookware from the burner before beginning the test.

CONNECTING REGULATOR TO LP TANK:

  1. Place the LP tank on a secure, level, and stable surface.
  2. Turn control knob to the “OFF” position.
  3. Turn LP tank OFF by turning the hand wheel clockwise to a full stop.
  4. Remove the protective cap from the LP tank valve. HINT: Always use the cap and strap supplied with the valve. DO NOT use a POL transport plug. It will defeat the safety feature of the valve.
  5. Hold the regulator, insert the nipple into the LP tank valve. Hand tighten the coupling nut while holding the regulator in a straight line with the LP tank valve so as not to cross thread the connection.
  6. Turn the coupling nut clockwise to tighten to a full solid stop. The regulator will seal on the back-check.

HINT: An additional one-half to three-quarters turn is required to complete.
NOTE: If you cannot complete the connection, repeat steps 5 and 6. If you are still unable to complete the connection, DO NOT use this regulator.

WARNING
Once the LP tank is properly installed, it is necessary to perform a leak check. A leak check is a reliable way to verify that gas is not escaping after you connect the tank. The fuel system in your appliance features factory- made connections that have been thoroughly checked for gas leaks and the burners have been flame-tested.
Recommends performing a thorough leak check after assembly, as well as annually. The following fittings should be tested:

  • Where the regulator connects to the tank.
  • Where the gas hose connects to the bulkhead.

Leak Testing

Note: Remove all packaging, including straps, before using the appliance

  1. Wet fittings with a soap and water solution, using a spray bottle, brush, or rag. You can make your own soap and water solution by mixing 20% liquid soap with 80% water; or, you can purchase leak check solution in the plumbing section of any hardware store.
  2. Make sure the control valves are in the “OFF” position, and turn on the gas supply.
  3. Check all connections from the LP gas regulator and supply valve up to and including the connection to the manifold pipe assembly (the pipe that goes to the burners). Soap bubbles will appear where a leak is present.
  4. If a leak is present, immediately turn off the gas supply and tighten the leaky fittings.
  5. Turn the gas back on and recheck.
  6. Should the gas continue to leak from any of the fittings, turn off the gas supply and contact customer service.
  7. If bubbles do not appear, leak checking is complete: Turn gas supply off at the tank and rinse connections with water.

NOTE : Since some leak test solutions, including soap and water, may be slightly corrosive, all connections should be rinsed with water after checking for leaks.
Only those parts recommended by the manufacturer should be used on the appliance. Substitution will void the warranty. Do not use the appliance until all connections have been checked and do not leak. FEASTO-22701A-30QT-

WARNING
Check all gas supply fittings for leaks before each use. If “growing” bubbles appear, there is a leak. IMMEDIATELY turn off the LP tank valve.
If bubbles continue presenting, IMMEDIATELY move away from the LP tank and contact the FIRE DEPARTMENT (e.g. 911 ).

Turning the gas supply off
Turn all knobs to the OFF position, and turn LP tank OFF by turning the hand- wheel clockwise to a full stop.

Disconnecting Regulator to the LP Tank

  1. Turn the burner valves off.
  2. Turn the tank valve off fully (turn clockwise to stop).
  3. Turn the coupling nut counterclockwise to loosen the connector. Loosen by hand only. Do not use tools.
  4. When disconnected, the regulator should be hung on the hook attached to the appliance.

DANGER

  • Do not insert any tool or foreign object into the valve outlet or safety relief valve. You may damage the valve and cause a leak. Leaking gas may result in explosion, fire, severe personal injury, or death.
  • Never attempt to attach this appliance to the self-contained LP gas system of a camper or trailer or motor home.
  • The pressure regulator and hose assembly supplied with the appliance must be the one used. Replacement pressure regulators and hose assemblies must be those specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use the appliance until leak checked.
  • If leak is detected at any time, STOP.
  • If you cannot stop a gas leak, immediately close the LP tank valve, move away from the appliance, and call the LP gas supplier or the fire department!
  • Turn off the gas supply cylinder when not in use.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIGHTING BURNER:

  1. Read all instructions before lighting.
  2. Confirm that the regulator control knob and LP tank valve are completely closed and inthe OFF position.
  3. Open the LP tank valve fully by turning counterclockwise.
  4. DO NOT stand with head or arms over the burner. Using a long ignited match (fireplace match) or a flame lighter, place flame directly over the burner. If using ashorVpaper bookmatch, first place the unlit match into the match holder whichis attached by a chain to the stand, then light the match. Slowly turn on the regulator control knob clockwise until burner is lit.
  5. When the burner is lit, turn the regulator control knob to the desired heat outputposition between ON and OFF.
  6. If the burner does not ignite in 5 seconds, turn the regulator and the LP cylinder valves to OFF position. Wait 5 minutes for the gas to be cleared and repeat above procedure.

Burner Flame Check
Light the burner and adjust the flame with the regulator control valve until the desired flame is achieved. Always check the flame prior to each use. A blue flame with little or no yellow flame provides the best heat.

CAUTION:Beware of Flashback

CAUTION : Spiders and small insects occasionally spin webs or make nest in the appliance burner tubes during transit and warehousing. These webs can lead to gas flow obstruction, which could result in a fire in and around burner tubes. This type of fire is known as “FLASH-BACK” and can cause serious damage to your appliance and create an unsafe operating condition for the user.
Although an obstructed burner tube is not the only cause of “FLASH-BACK”, it is the most common cause. To reduce the chance of “FLASH-BACK”, you must clean the burner tubes before assembling your appliance , and at least once a month in late summer or early fall when spiders are most active.
Also perform this burner tube cleaning procedure if your appliance has not been used for an extended period of time. A clogged tube can be lead to a fire beneath the appliance.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
Clean burner to remove spiders, insect nests and other debris.

  1. Disconnect regulator hose assembly from burner and remove air control shutter.
  2. Disconnect retaining nut from burner support .bar, then remove burner from frame. Loosen and disconnect central bolt from burner and remove flame spreader from burner cup.
  3. Use a narrow bottle brush or a stiff wire bent into a small hook to run through the burner tube. Push the bottle brush or bent wire back and forth through the burner tube.
  4. Hold the burner with the tube facing down and spray water until water flows freely out of the burner tube.

Operating Instructions

  1. Insure that the appliance is properly assembled, connected to propane cylinder and regulator valve turned to closed position.

  2. Position the appliance on level ground in a well ventilated location, at least 10-ft from combustible materials, tree branches, buildings and overhangs. Propane cylinder should be positioned upwind from appliance so the heat of appliance does not reach cylinder.

  3. Inspect the gas supply hose for burns, chaffing, kinks and proper routing before each use.
    Hose should be positioned at least 3 inches away from hot surfaces.

  4. Leak check all gas connections on regulator hose assembly, LP cylinder valve and weld seams.

  5. Light the appliance as per the instructions.

  6. Use extreme care when lowering food and utensils into and removing from hot liquid.

  7. When cooking is completed, turn off gas to the appliance. Follow Disconnecting Instructions in this manual.

  8. Follow General Maintenance and Storage Instructions on page 9.

Frying Instructions

  1. Pour peanut oil into pot and attach thermometer to the top edge, making sure the stem of the thermometer is in the oil at least one inch … very important!

  2. Following instructions, light the gas cooker and set at a low flame.
    NOTE : Never place an empty aluminum pot on a lit cooker. A hole will be burned in the bottom of the pot.

  3. Carefully place the pot on the cooker and adjust the flame higher.

  4. Heat oil to 325°F- 350°F(160°C-177° C). Optimum frying temperature is 350°F(177° C).

  5. When oil reaches 350°F(177°C), turn off the appliance.

  6. Attach grab hook to the top loop of the rack. Wearing gloves, very slowly & carefully lower poultry into pot. It may take 60-90 seconds to completely lower poultry into the oil !
    WARNING : Do not drop the turkey into the oil!
    This could cause a boil-over resulting in a serious grease fire! Remember … slowly … lower the poultry into the oil. After turkey is completely in the oil, remove grab hook from rack.

  7. Inserting the poultry will reduce the temperature of
    the oil. Re-ignite the appliance when the oil temperature drops to 176°F(80°C) the appliance. Adjusting the regulator valve and slowly increase the heat so that the temperature of the oil will come back to 325°F – 350°F(160°C-177°C). This will take several minutes. Monitor the thermometer to maintain this temperature.

  8. Fry turkey for 3 to 3.5 minutes per pound or until golden brown. (Ex: a 15 pound turkey will take between 45 and 50 minutes to cook.) Turkeys over 18 pounds typically take 60 minutes.

Note : Cooking time begins when poultry is completely inserted into the pot.

WARNING

  • Do Not insert frozen or partially frozen poultry into hot oil! When frying with oil/grease, all food MUST be completely THAWED, and towel DRIED before being immersed in the fryer.
  • Introduction of water or ice from any source into the oil/grease may cause overflow and severe burns from hot oil and water splatter. therefore, we recommended wearing gloves, a long-sleeved shirt, shoes and safety goggles.
  • Do Not DROP poultry into the hot oil!
  • Cooking must be monitored at all times. Do not permit cooking temperature to exceed 350″F(177° C).
  • Do Not leave pot and cooker unattended!Always monitor the thermometer!
  • Always test thermometer prior to cooking!
  • Do Not use lid when frying. Use lid only when the pot is being used for other types of cooking such as boiling soups, stews, gumbos; or steaming vegetables and seafood.
  • Allow 2 hours for the oil to cool down before handling or cleanup.

DANGER
Never allow oil or grease to get hotter than 350°F or 177°C, If the temperature exceeds 350°F (177°C} or if oil begins to smoke, immediately turn the burner or gas supply OFF.

DANGER
Never attempt to lift a brew kettle pot filled with water, even cold water. Lifting a pot filled with liquid can result in serious back and bodily injuries; or splashing of hot liquids can result in serious burns. The handles are designed for carrying empty pots.
Although handles are welded to the pot, the attachment could be weakened over time due to bumping during shipment or movement from storage. Use a pump or gravity siphon to transfer liquids from one pot to the other.
Never attempt pouring hot liquid from one pot to the other. Failure to follow this instruction could result in serious burns and bodily injury.

Allow the appliance to fully cool down (1 15 °F or 46 °C) before performing any cleaning.
Correct care and maintenance will keep your appliance operating smoothly. Clean regularly as determined by the amount of use.
NOTE: Clean the entire appliance each year and tighten all hardware on a regular basis (1-2 times a year or more depending on usage). Cleaning should be done using detergents that won’t harm the patio, lawn, or the environment.

STEPS FOR CLEANING THE BURNER

  1. Remove the Burner assembly from the burner.
  2. Look inside the burner tube for insect nests, webs, or mud.
  3. To remove the above obstructions, use a flexible venturi brush or bend a small hook on one end of a long flexible wire.
  4. Inspect and clean the burner if needed.
  5. Reattach the Regulator connector to the burner. Clean all cooking surfaces of vessels, aluminum pots, and pans with warm, soapy water and a nylon cleaning pad regularly.

Suggested Cleaning Materials:

  • Mild dish washing liquid detergent.
  • Nylon cleaning brush pad
  • Hot water
  • Paper towel

Polish Aluminum Pots

  1. It is recommended to season the pot before use. Pour a small amount of vegetable oil inside and spread it with a paper towel until the entire bottom and sides are coated. Let it stand for 10 minutes. Wash out the interior of the pot, it will be ready to use. DO NOT apply to flame during any of this process.
  2. After cooking, let pots and lids cool down gradually. Do not pour cold water into a hot pot. This will cause the bottom of the pot to warp. Always wash the pots thoroughly in hot, soapy detergent after each use to remove all traces of food, salt, or grease particles that may burn causing stains when the pan is reheated.
  3. Seasoning the pots will make cleaning easier. Scouring pads and aluminum cleaners can be used to clean the interior of the pots but will scratch the exterior.
  4. Polished aluminum pots will tarnish and discolor with normal use.
  5. Boiling with large quantities of salt is very corrosive and can cause pits in the pot and basket. To reduce the chance of this occurring, do not allow salt water to remain in the pot for a long period of time after the pot has cooled.
    • The basket and pot should be thoroughly cleaned after each use.
    • DO NOT store cooking oil inside the pots.
    • Salt and seasonings will settle and can cause pits to form at the bottom of the pots.

CAUTION

  • If the burners go out during use, close the gas supply at cylinder, and turn off all gas valves. Wait for 5 minutes before attempting to re-light (this allows accumulated gas fumes to clear).
  • In case of a grease fire, close the gas supply at cylinder, turn off all burners until the fire is out.
  • DO NOT attempt to disconnect any gas fitting while the appliance is being used. As with all appliances, proper care and maintenance will ensure your appliance is in top operating condition and will prolong its life.
