Tilefit12

Overview

Maincor’s 18mm Tilefit12 backer board is the ideal solution for situations where a low build height and tile floored finish is required. The tile backer boards are cement coated, extruded polystyrene panels which are pre routed to house the underfloor heating pipes and they include radius returns on one end of the panel. The boards need to be mechanically fixed or bonded to the substrate to ensure there is no movement prior to tiling.
The panels are designed for use with the Maincor Superflow12 PERT Pipes, laid at 150mm centres. The boards are suitable for floors that have no movement, which are flat and level.
Depending on the condition of a floor, a layer of levelling compound may first be required to level off uneven areas or back fill any existing cavities.
The boards can be laid onto existing timber decks or onto concrete floors and either screws and rebated washers and screws can be used for fixing the boards or a continuous combed bed of flexible tile adhesive (by others) can be used to bond the boards to the subfloor.

Features and Benefits

  • Offers low profile solution (18mm) for direct tiling.
  • Fast efficient heat transfer.
  • High compressive strength from thermally efficient insulation.
  • Panels can be supplied with thicker insulation if required.
  • Lightweight system.

Key Components

Maincor Pipe Coils Maincor Superflow12 is a dedicated underfloor heating pipe which includes the important EVOH oxygen barrier and offers improved flow, reduced pressure drops, increased output and a faster and easier install.
Tile Backer Board
Maincor’s tile backer board include a reinforced cement face on the upper and lower sides of the boards. The pre routed extruded polystyrene has a high compressive strength (300 kPa) making it the ideal solution for tiled floors. When used in ground floors, additional insulation may be required to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations.
Rebated Washers & Screws  We allow 6 rebated washers and screws per board for fixing the boards to a wooden subfloor.
FLOOR CONSTRUCTIONS Installation Overview
When installing underfloor heating systems ensure that all relevant health and safety legislation and local site regulations are fully adhered to at all times.
Before starting to install the underfloor heating system, the working area should be prepared:

  • The area must be weather tight. Ensure that the panels, manifolds and electrical components, etc are sufficiently protected from wet weather.
  • Site specific PPE is required.
  • The floor is to be solid, level, clean and free of debris.
  • Levelling compound can be used to prepare the floor where it is uneven.
  • Take time to plan your installation prior to laying to minimise the need to cut panels or route further channels.

Each board includes 4 straight routed channels at 150mm centres with end returns for looping the pipe into the next channel. Additional straight channels run along the width of the board for running feed pipes. Each board is 1.2m x 0.6m and are 18mm thick.

  1. Ensure the floor is firm, clean and level.
  2. An underfloor heating layout will have been provided. Lay the boards so the pipes can sit within the channels as  per the design.
  3. Fix the boards to the subfloor. This can be achieved by either using the rebated washers & screws supplied (6 per board) or the boards can be laid onto a combed and even bend of flexible tile adhesive (supplied by others).
  4. Lay the pipes into the boards as per the underfloor heating design.
  5. Connect the pipes to the manifold, fill the system and pressure test. The system should be left under pressure  whilst tiling.
  6. Depending on the tile adhesive being used, boards may need to be primed. Tiles can be applied directly onto the boards and all gaps should be back filled with flexible tile adhesive.
