How to use
-
Prep your Resin
When you receive your Mouldd resin, or if you have stored it in a cold space you may find some crystallisation has occurred. For best results, place your resin bottle in warm water for around 15 minutes or on top of a radiator. This will help reduce the viscosity resulting in less bubbles and easier resin to work with. -
Prep your workspace
Clear and cover your workspace. We recommend using silicone mats, old plastic table cloth covers or baking paper. Once hardened, resin can be very difficult to remove so ensuring your work area is covered now will save you heart ache in the future.
We also recommend wearing gloves and a mask when working with Mouldd resin. -
Measure & Combine
Mouldd deep pour resin has a ratio of 2:1 by volume. Meaning for each 100ml of resin it needs to be mixed with 50ml of hardener, in order for the mixture to cure properly. If preferred you can measure by weight, however, the ratio is slightly different. It is 2.2:1. Meaning for every 100g of resin you require 45g of hardener. Pour the correct amount of resin into your jug followed by the hardener. -
Mix
Once you have poured the resin and hardener together, stir the mixture for a minimum of 3 minutes. Scraping the edges, to ensure there is no unmixed resin or hardener. Stirring slowly will help reduce bubbles. You can tell when you have finished mixing as the resin mixture will be totally clear and will no longer be cloudy/streaky. We also recommend leaving the resin to sit for 20 minutes after mixing to allow any bubbles to rise up and pop.
Mouldd resin has a long work time of 120+ mins. -
Working with colours
Mouldd resin blends perfectly with a range of colouring options.
Mica powder, inks, pastes and acrylic paints are all ideal. But remember, a small amount of colour goes a long way and adding too much can cause it not to cure. -
Pour
Once mixed together you can pour your resin into your moulds.
Mouldd resin is self levelling and can be used for depths of between 20mm and 100mm. For any heights above this we recommend working in layers. Bubbles should now rise to the top to pop. However, if there are any bubbles remaining we recommend using a heat gun to remove these. -
SET
Covering your art with cardboard boxes or cling film, will help protect it from dust settling. Our deep pour resin will take 72 hours to cure, however, in colder temperatures (below 18 degrees celsius) it may require 96 hours. It will take 14 days for the full heat resistant properties to begin.
Tips & Tricks
-
Mouldd resin has a work time of approximately 120 minutes depending on room temperature. Perfect working temperature is between 20°C and 25°C.
-
For best results and to reduce bubbles, heat the resin before use, either by placing the bottle in hot water or on a radiator. If the hardener is very cold, you can place this in hot water for 5 minutes or also by a radiator.
However, the hardener tends to be runnier so it is not normally needed. -
To reduce cure time by up to 50% try adding a heat mat or other sources of heat.
-
Mouldd resin works best to depths of 20-100mm.
-
Once you have finished creating your art, cover it to avoid dust settling on it. Old cardboard boxes or cling film are good a good option – just ensure they do not touch the resin while curing.
-
Covering your workspace is a good idea in case of spillages. Old table cloths, baking paper, oil cloths or even old clothes offer good protection.
-
You can add almost anything to mouldd resin; seashells, charms, mica powder, acrylic paint, glitter, sprinkles. Let your imagination run wild!

Safety
-
Wear gloves
To avoid getting any resin and/or hardener on your skin, it is important that you wear the gloves provided in the kit at all times. We recommend putting these on before getting the rest of the kit out. In the kit you will find nitrile gloves – these are the best type of gloves to use as they are the least likely to react with your skin and the resin. If you want to test whether the resin has cured, do not touch it without gloves on until you are certain that it has fully set.
If in the instance you do get resin on your skin, we recommend having a pack of wipes handy to immediately grab to wipe the resin off. Then simply wash your skin with soap and water thoroughly to remove any residue. -
Work in a well ventilated area
It is important to open your windows (weather permitting of course!) or turn a fan on to improve ventilation. Make sure you have good ventilation throughout the entire process – from opening the resin to curing. -
Wear a plastic apron
Spillages are inevitable – even the team at mouldd still spill a drop or two every so often! Just a simple PVC apron will do the job so that you can wipe, or even peel, off the resin once it has cured. -
Use a respirator mask
When working with Mouldd resin we recommend wearing a respirator mask. It is always best to be safe rather than sorry to protect yourself from any odours (even the ones you cannot smell).
If you want to use a respirator, we would recommend finding a NIOSH approved respirator. -
Disposal & Storage
Dispose of contents/container to your local special waste collection point, in accordance with local, regional, national and/or international regulation.
Storage: Store in original, sealed containers, in dry and ventilated storage rooms. Keep away from food, animal feed, dishes for food, in places inaccessible to unauthorised persons. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, heat sources and fire. Take all necessary measures to avoid accidental release into sewage systems, water or transmission systems.

FAQ
What depth does mouldd deep pour resin work best for?
Mouldd resin works best for depths between 20mm and 100mm.
Is mouldd resin heat resistant?
Mouldd resin is fully heat resistant up to 90°C. Above this you will find the resin will become slightly mouldable, but then will reharden. Full heat resistant properties after 7 days.
What is the cure time?
Working with Mouldd resin at a too high/low temperature can lead to a sub- standard cure. Working in a room temperature between 18°C and 22°C will result in the resin curing within 72 hours.
Does yellowing occur?
Mouldd resin was specially designed to ensure yellowing does not occur. Not only is the resin UV resistant, but included in the formulation are absorbers, interrupters and brighteners. Leading to a best in class clarity.
What is the working time for the deep pour resin?
Our deep pour resin has a work time of around 120 minutes depending on room temperature.
Is it VOC free?
Yes, it is VOC free. We have done extensive testing on our resin to ensure it's safety.
Does it have a strong smell
Our deep pour resin has a very low odour, almost not noticeable. We still recommend working in a well ventilated space but you will not find it overpowering to work with.
