This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
Electrical:
In the USA this machine operates on a standard 15 amp 120V, 60 hz, A.C. power
circuit. The amp, hertz, and voltage are listed on the data label found on
each machine. Using voltages above or below those indicated on the data label
will cause serious damage to the motors.
Extension Cords:
If an extension cord is used, the wire size must be at least one size larger
than the power cord on the machine, and must be limited to 50 feet (15.5m) in
length.
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
120 Volt Models:
This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a grounded
plug that looks like the plug in “Fig. A”. A temporary adapter that looks like
the adapter in “Fig. C” may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole
receptacle as shown in “Fig. B”, if a properly grounded outlet is not
available. The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded
outlet (Fig. A) can be installed by a qualified electrician. The green colored
rigid ear, lug, or wire extending from the adapter must be connected to a
permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever the
adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.
NOTE : Adaptors are not allowed in Canada.
WaARNING Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can
result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or
service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly
grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance – if it will not
fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.

Operation
How the Machine Works
Once the machine enters the cleaning position with power switched on, turn on
the start switch in the middle of the control panel to choose one of two
cleaning options, “Regular” and “Deep Cleaning”. The Brush Deck starts
lowering until the two cylindrical brushes touch the moving treads. The Pump
Button is turned on to start spraying solution to the treads. Solution is
recovered through the vacuum shoe in between the two cylindrical brushes. See
‘Operating the Machine’ section.

- Solution Tank
- Handle and Control Panel
- Gear boxes
- Recovery Tank
- On-site brush deck cleaning tray
Important
- Before operating the machine, the operator must Read All Instructions Before Using This Machine.
- A “Maintenance in Progress” perimeter sign must be set up at both ends of the escalator.
- The operator must know where the Emergency Stop Button is located.
- The “Maintenance in Progress” signs must not be removed until the escalator treads and both upper and lower landing areas are completely dry.
Before Operating
-
Fill up the solution tank with clean water mixed with the chemical. The mixing ratio and the type of chemical for the application will be introduced during the training sessions provided by the manufacturer and your local distributors.
-
For the best cleaning results and environment protection, please choose only the chemicals from or recommended by the distributors.
-
Make sure the brushes are securely installed.
-
Check the condition of the brushes. If the bristles are worn, bent, or broken, the brush will need to be replaced.
Use of a damaged brush will significantly reduce cleaning performance -
Check the recovery tank and make sure it is empty, clean and the drainage is not clogged.
-
Inspect the nozzles at the front of the machine. All nozzles should be clear of debris or blockage. Use of blocked or partially blocked nozzles will prevent uniform application of cleaning solution, resulting in reduced cleaning performance.
-
Check that the brake is working correctly. Fully engage the brake using the brake handle, and attempt to push and pull the machine. The machine should remain firmly in place. If the machine rolls, or starts to turn in either direction, the brakes will need adjustment prior to operation. Refer to the Brake Adjustment section in this manual.

Operating the Machine
- The operator must be able to use the brake so the machine can be positioned accurately for the best cleaning result and avoiding accidental bumping against the steps.
- The treads on the escalator must be moving toward the escalator cleaner. Do not operate the machine with the treads moving away from the machine.
- The machine must be attended all the time while it is in operation.
- While the machine is operating, monitor for leaks and unusual noise. The machine must be stopped immediately when a malfunction occurs during operation
- Correctly positioning the machine. It should be as close as possible to the edge of the tread, without contacting the stationary wall of the escalator. For best cleaning results, it is recommended to temporarily remove the skirt brushes on both sides of the escalator landing. See Cleaning Tips on next page.
- With the deck above the moving treads fully past the edge of comb plate, set the brakes firmly. Confirm that the front edge of the deck is not above the tread section that is not yet level with the landing.
- Push On/Off button to turn on the vacuum.
- Push the Cleaning Mode button up or down to chose the ideal cleaning mode. Regular and Deep Clean use the same amount of vacuum suction and solution spray, but Deep Clean uses more brush down pressure and is intended for cleaning heavy soils.
- Check that when the brushes make contact with the tread that they rest smoothly while scrubbing. If an excessive vibration or chatter is observed, press Cleaning Mode button to the center position raising the deck and then carefully release the brake to adjust the machine position.
- Press the Pump On/Off button to begin spraying cleaning solution.
- In case of cleaning the escalator with heavily built up dirt and soil, it’s strongly recommended to clean up the brush deck in every 5 minutes after the machine was being operated to avoid the possible clogging and brush motor overloading.
- Turn off all the switches before moving the machine from its cleaning position.
- When finished cleaning, press the Pump on/off button to turn off solution spray and continue to operate the machine for 5 minutes to remove excess solution residue from the treads
- When the solution tank runs empty, stop the machine and rinse the brushes to avoid messy drips off the deck while transporting the machine to dump the recovery tank and refill the solution tank.
Post-operation Maintenance
- Using the cleaning tray filled with clean water, lower the brush deck into the cleaning tray 2-3 times to remove debris from the bristles.
- Remove the debris tray below the vacuum shoe. Wipe off any large debris and rinse the debris tray in clean water. Reinstall the debris tray.
- Empty the recovery tank using the drain hose. Rinse the recovery tank using clean water, and drain again using the drain hose.
- Empty the solution tank by removing the drain cap at the bottom of the machine. Reinstall the drain cap. Remove the fill cap, fill with fresh water, and drain again by removing the drain cap.
- Remove the nozzles from the front of the machine and rinse in clean water. Inspect to ensure no blockages or debris build-up.
After 100 hours in Service
Check for:
- loose components;
- dirt/soil built up inside the recovery tank;
- dirt/soil built up in the tray underneath the vac-shoe;
- dirt/soil built up inside the brush deck housing;
