Product Usage Instructions
1. Unplugging the Treadmill
Before starting any maintenance or replacement work, ensure the treadmill is unplugged from the wall outlet for safety.
2. Unplugging the Speed Sensor
To remove the speed sensor, depress the clip on the connector and pull it away from the motor control board.
3. Removing the Speed Sensor Cover
- a) Use a 7/16 socket, 2 extensions, and 3/8 ratchet to remove the two screws holding the sensor cover.
- b) Slide the speed sensor cover off the end of the drive motor.
- c) Once the cover is removed, you can access the speed sensor components.
4. Removing the Speed Sensor Tach Wheel
Follow the instructions provided in the manual to remove the speed sensor tach wheel.

MCMILLAN SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL / REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
INTRODUCTION
This document should be used for replacing speed sensors on McMillan drive motors
TOOLS REQUIRED
- ¼” & 7/16” standard sockets
- 3/8” ratchet w/ 2” extension
- Small flat-head screwdriver
ACTIVITY PROCESS
- UNPLUG THE TREADMILL FROM WALL OUTLET
- UNPLUG SPEED SENSOR Depress the clip on the speed sensor connector and pull it away from the motor control board.
- REMOVE SPEED SENSOR COVER
- a) Remove the two screws holding the sensor cover using 7/16” socket, 2” extension and 3/8” ratchet. (Figure A)
- b) Slide the speed sensor cover off the end of the drive motor. (Figure B)
- c) Once the cover is removed you will see the speed sensor components. (Figure C)
- REMOVE SPEED SENSOR TACH WHEEL
- a) Locate the speed sensor tach wheel screw (Figure A)
- b) Hold the flywheel with one hand and remove the tach wheel screw using a ¼” socket and 3/8” ratchet (Figure B)
- c) Slide the speed sensor tach wheel off the shaft of the drive motor (Figure C)
SERVICE TIP:
Take the speed sensor cover screws, tach wheel screw, and tach wheel and place inside the speed sensor cover so the hardware isn’t misplaced.

REMOVE SPEED SENSOR
- a) Insert small, flat head screwdriver in between the sensor and holding clips (Figure A)
- b) Pull the sensor out of the holding clip (Figure B)

INSTALL SPEED SENSOR
- a) Line up dowel hold on the new speed sensor to the dowel on speed sensor holding clip. (Figure A)
- b) Insert the sensor into the holding clip and snap into place. (Figure B)

INSTALL SPEED SENSOR TACH WHEEL
- a) Slide the speed sensor tach wheel onto the drive motor shaft. (Figure A)
- b) Insert the speed sensor tach wheel screw and tighten it down using ¼” socket and 3/8” ratchet. (Figure B)
NOTE: YOU WILL HAVE TO HOLD THE FLYWHEEL IN PLACE WHEN TIGHTENING THE SCREW FOR TACH WHEEL

INSTALL SPEED SENSOR COVER
- a) Locate the notch on the speed sensor cover. (Figure A)
- b) Line up the speed sensor harness with the notch on the cover and slide the cover back on. (Figure B)
- c) Install and tighten the speed sensor cover screws using a 7/16” socket, 3/8” ratchet and 2” extension. (Figure C)

CONNECT SPEED SENSOR HARNESS
- Re-connect the speed sensor to the motor control board.
