CONCENTRATION AND EFFECTS

Concentration in Air Effects
CO2 400 ~450 ppm
451~800 ppm Topical level found in occupied solaces with wood air exchange.
801~ 1500 ppm Level associated with complaints of drowsiness and poor air.
1501 ~ 3000 ppm Level associated with headaches, sleepiness, sand stagnant,

stale, stuffy air. Poor concentration, loss of at enation, increased

heart rate and slight nausea may also be ore sent.

3001 ppm| Exposure may lead to serious oven derivation symptoms
co| 9 ppm| The maximum allowable concentration for 8-hour period in any year, EPA (ASHRAE). Pollutedcitiesoften reach and exceed 9 ppm, increasing incidence of congestive heart failure (Morris).
35 ppm| Maximum allowable outdoor concentration for one-hour period in alveary, EPA (ASHRAE)
50 ppm| Maximum allowable 8-hours work place exposure, (OSHA).
Most fire departments require use of self-contained breathing apparatus for exposures above 50 ppm. Prezi’s et.al found chronic exposures produced significant morphologic changes in dogs, including brain pathology, heart pathos logy and abnormal EKG’s.
75ppm| Significant decrease in oxygen rese Ne available to the myocardium (HbCO10%). Heavy smokers can reach Hob CO of 10%.
100 ppm| Slight headache, tiredness, dizziness, nausea after several hours exposure. Causes morphologic damage to hearts and braining dogs exposed 5 1/2 hours per day for eleven weeks (Lowey and Drabik, quoted in Pre zoos). Maximum concentration allowed from kitchen range ovens by many weatherization agencies (Tsonga’s).
200 ppm| Maximum recommended workplace exposure (NIOSH). Slight headache, tiredness, dizziness, nausea after 2-3 hours, might be life-the rectenna in Iona exposures Bacharach.)
800 ppm| Dizziness, nausea and convulsions within 45 minutes. Unconsciousness within 2 hours. Death within 2-3 hours.
