System Requirements

Interface Support

USB 3. 1 Gen 2 (1 OGbps). *Using lower versions such as USB 3.0 and 2.0 may result in lower performances due lo interface limitations.

Recommended Operating Systems

macOS X 10.5 or higher. iPadOS 15 or higher. Windows 7 or higher, Android version 11 or higher, Linux.

Recommended SSD

M.2 form factor compatible with both SATA and NVME in sizes, 2242/2260/2280. Suitable for most M&B Key with NVME/PCIE, M&B Key with NGFF/SATA. M Key with NVME/PCIE, and other Key M.2 SSD.

*NOTE , DO NOT support B KEY (NGFF/SATA).

Using the SSD Enclosure

  1. Pull the aluminum case from the ABS frame.

  2. At a 45-degree angle, insert the SSD into the M.2 socket until it is properly seated.

  3. Twist the rubber fastener at the correct angle (as the picture shows) until the SSD can be fixed.

  4. Lower the SSD, tear off the protective film of the thermal pad  and place the thermal pad on the chip.

  5. Make sure the uni logo faces up, and slide back to the original until you hear the “click”.

  6. Connect the enclosure with uni original USB C to USB C cable to a USB-C-enabled device.

Using An SSD That Already Stores Data

  1. Make sure the USB-C cable is seamlessly inserted.
  2. The driver will appear on your computer in a few seconds if the SSD has installed the file system and stored the data.
    *NOTE, Linux or Apple computer file systems do not work under Windows operating systems. If the SSD was obtained from a Linux or Apple computer. please format it to exFAT.

Using A Brand New SSD

On Windows,

  1. Search Disk Management from search box. setting the status as Run as administrator. Fail? Type Computer Management instead, and go to Storage > Disk Management.
  2. Then. choose the disk you want to initialize and go Initialize Disk, and accept the default partition . [If you need to change the partition style. do it here.] If the disk is offline. right-click it and select Online.
  3. Right-click the unallocated space on the drive and select New Simple Volume. Then, specify the size of the volume. Specify the drive letter to assign to the volume, and “Next”.
  4. Specify the file system to use, click Next. and Finish.

On macOS:

macOS will automatically prompt you to initialize the drive. If you cannot find the drive in Finder, you will need to create a partition on the drive. Create a partition on a new drive,

  1. Open Finder. navigate to Applications. then click Utilities. and open Disk Utility.
  2. Select the new drive and click the Partition tab. verify that it is set to GUID Partition Table. and name the partition. then click Partition.
  3. The drive should now be accessible in Finder.

Connected SSD with Light On But Without Recognized

On Windows,

  1. Search Disk Management from search box. setting the status as Run as administrator. Fail? Type Computer Management instead. and go to Storage > Disk Management.
  2. Right-click it and select Online.

On macOS:

Simply Go> Disk Utility> View> Show All Devices to check the SSD. check whether the SSD can be found in Disk Utility.

✔ Can be found in Disk Utility, make sure the drive hardware has no problems.
✖ Can’t find, the SSD might be physically damaged.

  1. If your SSD is using Windows format. you need to download a free NTFS drive for Mac.
  2. If you have used this SSD on other computers before and now it is unrecognized by macOS, the file system of the SSD is either unsupportable or corrupted. you need to recover lost data from this SSD and reformat the drive.
  3. Newly bought this SSD? Follow the 2.3 instructions. *Contact us for professional technical guidance if you need help.

Caution

Heat

NVMe SSDs offer powerful transfer speeds and generate more heat. Typically, uni’s enclosure is kept temperatures below 50°C in a 26°C environment. Keep in mind that the temperature of the case will vary when used in different environments between 5°C – 35°C. •Temperature is uni lab test results using MacBook Pro 15″(2018), Samsung PM981 256GB.

Backing Up Important Data

uni does not guarantee the data stored on your SSD under any circumstances. uni denies any and all liabilities for psychiatric and/or physical damages or losses caused by loss or restoration of data stored when using uni SSD enclosure. Be sure to back up important data at all times.

Impact

Avoid any strong impact on the product. It may cause malfunction or data loss.

Connecting to Devices Other than a PC

Please check appropriate conditions and methods in the USB connection guide of the device you wish to connect to the uni Accessories SSD enclosure before use. The SSD enclosure may not be supported by your device, depending on the device’s supported file format systems and various system environments. Please check the requirements of the system supported by the device before using the uni SSD enclosure.
