WORKSPACE

The use of a vise to secure the receiver during shotgun disassembly and kit installation is recommended. Firmly clamp the receiver in the vise – bottom side up – leaving the barrel and the Retainer Pin unobstructed by the vise. Illustrations in this manual show this workspace.

NOTE: Take caution when tightening vise not to scratch the receiver. Using a soft material between the vise’s jaw surfaces and the receiver (“Soft Jaws”) will help protect the receiver from being scratched.

Shotgun Disassembly

WARNING: Use Caution! Verify firearm safety is on and the barrel is pointed in a safe direction. Confirm that the shotgun is unloaded by opening the action and making visual and touch verification as directed in your shotgun owner’s manual.

NOTE: The following disassembly drawings/steps are specific to Mossberg disassembly. Remington disassembly is very similar.

  1. Remove shotgun stock; installation of the EX Performance Forend and/orStock requires removal of the stock. In most cases the recoil pad will beattached by two screws, and the stockby one main bolt. Refer to factory manual if necessary.
NOTE: Steps 3-7 may be skipped if you have a circular shotgun forend wrench which does not require complete forend assembly removal. Simply unscrew the forend nut and slip off the forend. Proceed with Step 2 under Forend Installation on page 22.

  2. Unscrew the 500/88 Takedown Screw (A), 590 Magazine Cap (B) or 870 Magazine Cap (C) on the end of the magazine tube and remove the barrel by pulling it out of the receiver.

  3. Remove Retainer Pin utilizing an appropriately sized punch (3/16″ or smaller). The Retainer Pin is a very small part and easily lost; note its location.

  4. Remove the Trigger Housing Assembly from receiver by lifting the rear portion upward first and sliding back. DO NOT PULL THE TRIGGER! Serious damage to the trigger group may result.

  5. Remove the Cartridge Stop.

  6. Remove the Cartridge Interrupter.

  7. Move the forearm/action slide assembly rearward so that the bolt assembly and bolt slide are three-quarters of the way rearward. When the bottom of the Bolt Slide is aligned with the clearance cuts in the sides of the receiver, lift the Bolt Slide upward and out of the receiver.

  8. Remove the Bolt Assembly by sliding it forward and out of the receiver assembly through the barrel opening at the front of the receiver.

  9. Pivot the front portion of the Elevator upward out of the receiver (A), then squeeze the two arms which form the open end of the Elevator together (B) sufficiently to disengage and remove from receiver.

  10. Slide the forend forward. The action bars and forend assembly will now pull freely from the receiver and off the magazine tube. Shotgun disassembly complete. Proceed to forend Installation instructions.ADAPTIVE-TACTICAL-PAK-3010-EX-Performance-Tactical-Lighted-Forend-FIG-17

Forend Installation

NOTE: The EX Tactical Light Forend is shipped with the Light installed, but without the two included AA batteries installed. Please remove the light from the forend to install batteries and prior to installing the EX Forend on your shotgun. Review the EX Tactical Light section on.

  1. Use the appropriate end of the included wrench to remove the factory forend nut. Remove the factory forend.
  2. Slide EX Performance forend onto the forend slide assembly. This is a tight fit and may require extra force and/or tapping with a rubber mallet to completely install the forend.
  3. For longer 7 5/8″ slide tube, slip the included adapter into end of the forend assembly. The adapter is not necessary for a shorter 6 1/2″ slide tube.
  4. Re-install and tighten the forend assembly nut using the appropriate end of the wrench.
  5. Slide action bars and forend assembly back into receiver. Align action bars with corresponding slots in receiver.

IMPORTANT! If your Mossberg forend has integrated action bars you must purchase a forend slide assembly from Mossberg or an online parts retailer.

EX Performance forends feature a 2 inch picatinny rail concealed beneath a nose cap. To reveal the rail for use with accessories:

  1. Use 1/8″ hex key to remove screw.
  2. Slide the nose cap forward to reveal Picatinny accessory rail.

Shotgun Reassembly

  1. Install Elevator back into receiver. Elevator is held in position by spring tension into corresponding holes in the receiver; squeeze center (A) to apply pressure to ends and reinstall into the receiver.

  2. Reposition the Bolt Assembly back into the shotgun by sliding it into the barrel opening at the front of the receiver.
NOTE: Reference your shotgun manual if encountering difficulties in Steps 1 & 2.

  3. Reposition bolt slide on top of bolt and forend action bars.

  4. Reinstall the Cartridge Interrupter into the corresponding slot in the receiver.

  5. Reinstall Cartridge Stop into the corresponding slot in receiver.

  6. Hold the Cartridge Stop in place firmly against the receiver walls with one hand and grasp the Trigger Housing Assembly with the other. Insert the lugs on either side of the front corner of the Trigger Housing Assembly into the slots on each side of the receiver, then ease the rear of the housing assembly down and into position. DO NOT FORCE!
NOTE! If the trigger housing does not fit into place easily, check that all internal trigger housing pins are flush with the side of the housing and that the Cartridge Stop is positioned correctly.

  7. Align the trigger pin hole in the housing assembly with those in the receiver. Insert the trigger housing Retainer Pin and push in fully until flush with the side of the receiver.

  8. Reinstall the barrel into the receiver.

  9. Reinstall Takedown Screw or Magazine Cap

  10. Reinstall the shotgun rear stock, including the recoil pad as described in Step 1. Refer to the factory manual if necessary.

The assembly is complete. Remove the assembled firearm from the vise. With the safety on and the firearm unloaded verify that the functions of the firearm are operating correctly. If your product features the EX Performance Rear Stock, turn to the Rear Stock Installation section on.

Stock Installation (EX Set only)

  1. Remove the stock currently on your shotgun. Refer to the shotgun factory manual if necessary.
  2. Use the Adjustment Lever (A) to adjust the stock to the longest setting.
  3. Pull the Adjustment Lever Tabs (B) on each side to disengage the rear stock, and slide it off of the rear of the stock tube.
  4. Position the Adapter or ambidextrous Sling Plate on the front of the stock.ADAPTIVE-TACTICAL-PAK-3010-EX-Performance-Tactical-Lighted-Forend-FIG-33
  5. Align the front of the stock (plus Adapter or Sling Plate) with the rear of the receiver and hold in position.
  6. Remove Stock Mounting Hardware from the hardware bag. Assemble and insert into stock tube. Use a Socket Wrench with Extension and Socket (1/2″ for Mossberg, 7/16″ for Remington) or Long Slotted Driver to push the assembled Mounting Hardware to the end of the tube and through the front of the stock and Adapter/Sling Plate.
  7. Engage the Socket Wrench (or Long Slotted Driver) with the mounting Bolt. Turn clockwise and tighten until the stock is firmly in place.
  8. Pull Adjustment Lever Tabs (see 3B) and slide the adjustable portion of the stock back onto the stock tube. Use the Adjustment Lever (2A) to adjust the stock to the preferred setting.
  9. Mount the QD Swivel on the preferred side of the rear stock. The stock is factory-configured for right-hand swivel use. To modify QD Swivel placement, remove the Warhorse cover plate, remove screw using a 3/32″ hex key, insert swivel on the desired side, then reinsert and fasten screw.
