Overview

We have done our best to make the assembly of your new ebike easy to get you going as soon as possible. If you happened to not read the warning on the page before though, we’ll say it simply here, even if it has been made fairly easy, incorrect assembly can cause issues with the wheels, tire tubes, tire mounting, pedals and cranks. For those that feel comfortable there are 4 basic steps:

  1. Inflate the tires to the correct pressure
  2. Rotate the stem
  3. Install the handlebar
  4. Install the pedals

Tools Required

If you have chose to do the assembly of your bike yourself you will need:

  1. Metric Hex Wrench Set(Allen Wrench)
  2. 15mm Wrench or Pedal Wrench
  3. Bicycle Tire Pump with Pressure Gauge

Step 1 – Inflate the Tires
Your tires will be either slightly or fully deflated when you receive your Lyric Graffiti. We recommend you slide the bike out of the box on its side onto a soft surface like a rug, carpet, foam mat, or other soft surface that won’t scratch the bike. Don’t try and inflate the tires with the bikes weight sitting on them, there is a high likelihood that your tires will not be centered and beaded properly if you do this and will not roll smoothly.

Inflate your tires using the tire valve. If your pump doesn’t fit on the rear wheel valve you can pull it towards you gently, but pulling too much can tear the vavle off the inner tube so pull it towards you carefully.

Inflate to between 12-20 PSI depending on your weight (heavier riders will want 16-20PSI) and how much cushion you want vs rolling resistance. Higher pressure will roll faster but makes the ride less forgiving on bumps. While you inflate the tires, check to ensure that the tire is centered on the wheel. Look for the line on the tires around the wheel rim to gauge how it is lined up on both side of the wheel as you inflate. Going slowly and adjusting as you inflate will make sure you get it right the first time

Step 2 – Rotate the Stem
You will need to rotate your stem before you mount your handlebars Loosen the hex bolts on the side of the stem to allow it to rotate.

Rotate the stem towards the front of the bike. Don’t worry about getting the stem straight yet. We will do that in the next step. So leave the bolts on the side loose for now.

Step 3 – Install the Handlebar
Next you will mount your handlebar. You will need to remove the 4 bolts on the top of the stem and remove the top stem plate. Then orient the handlebar so that the handlebar buttons and throttles are faced towards the rider.
First remove the 4-bolts on the top of the stem. Keep them nearby as you will need them as soon as you remove the top stem plate. Once the bolts are removed and you have removed the top plate you can position the handlebar into the round groove.

Position the handlebar in the groove. You can rotate the display on the handlebar as needed to see the mounting placement clearly. Put the top plate back on the stem and tighten the bolts mostly. Sit on the bike and adjust the handlebar to your liking, ensure it is straight for good steering, and tighten both the top and side stem bolts now to secure it.

Step 4 – Install the Pedals

The pedals will screw into the crankarms and these should be easy to get the threading started. Note that there is a right and left pedal. Mlunting the pedals on the wrong side will strip the threads on either the pedals, the cranks, or both and can cause the cranks to be damaged. Please ensure you are mounting the pedals on the correct side.

First identify the left and right pedal by looking at the pedals from this angle. Once you have identified the sides they mount on hold the pedal and gently start the threading into the crank on the correct side. Note that the different sides are threaded in opposite directions. This may help to know if you are having trouble getting one side or the other started

Next, tighten the pedals with your pedal wrench or 15mm wrench. You will need to get the pedals tight to ensure that they don’t come loose while you ride which can be dangerous as well as can cause damage to the pedals and crank.

Now go and ride and remember to wear your helmet!
