Product Usage Instructions
Assembly
To assemble the product, follow these steps:
- Center the riser tube in the bottom of the tank, ensuring that the hub and laterals fit into the divet in the bottom of the tank. The top of the riser tube should be flush with the very top of the tank.
- Cover the riser tube with a piece of tape to prevent media from entering it. Place the funnel in the opening at the top of the tank.
- Pour the media into the tank using the funnel. Fill the tank with media until it reaches the “Fill to here” mark.
- Remove the tape and funnel, and clean up the riser, tank threads, and top of the tank.
- Thread the control valve onto the top of the tank, ensuring it is not cross-threaded.
Plumbing Connection & Startup
To connect the plumbing and start up the system, follow these steps:
- Refer to the provided valve plumbing diagram and connect the plumbing to the control valve accordingly. It is recommended to construct a bypass loop around the filter and use mechanical unions on all three plumbing connections for future servicing ease (fittings not supplied).
- If a bypass has been installed, place the valves in the bypass position. Turn on the water to the system and check all connections for leaks.
- Initiate a backwash/regeneration cycle on the control valve by pressing and holding the button with a diamond shape.
- Once the display indicates that the control valve is in backwash mode, open the bypass handles and allow the tank to fill with water. Ensure that the valve is in backwash mode before allowing water to fill the tank to provide an air pathway out of the tank.
- Allow the system to complete the entire backwash/regeneration cycle on its own.
- Place the system back into bypass by turning the red bypass knobs into the correct position. Keep the system in bypass for 24 hours to condition the activated carbon.
- After 24 hours, place the bypass knobs into the service position and initiate another backwash/regeneration cycle. The system is ready to use once the cycle is complete.
FAQ
- Q: Is it normal to see air bubbles in the water after installing new activated carbon filters?
A: Yes, it is normal to see very small air bubbles in the water when new activated carbon filters are installed. These tiny bubbles can give the water a greyish cast. However, they quickly dissipate in a clear glass and will go away once the system becomes thoroughly saturated. The duration for saturation may vary depending on water usage, but it could take several days.

It is recommended to construct a bypass loop around the filter and to use mechanical unions on all three plumbing connections to make future servicing easy. These fittings are not supplied with the system.
Plumbing Connection & Startup
-
Connect the plumbing to the control valve under the diagram above.
NOTE : It is recommended to construct a bypass loop around the filter and to use mechanical unions on all three plumbing connections to make future servicing easy. These fittings are not supplied with the system. -
If a bypass has been installed, place the valves in the bypass position. Turn on the water to the system and check all connections for leaks.
-
Initiate a backwash/regeneration cycle on the control valve by pressing and holding the button with a diamond shape.
-
Once the display indicates that the control valve is in backwash mode, open the bypass handles and allow the tank to fill with water.
Note : The valve must be in the backwash mode before allowing the tank to fill with water. This ensures that the air inside the tank has a pathway out as the tank fills with water. -
Allow the system to complete the entire backwash/regeneration cycle on its own.
-
Place the system back into bypass by turning the red bypass knobs into the correct position. Allow the system to stay in bypass for 24 hours to condition the activated carbon.
-
After 24 hours, place the bypass knobs to the service position and initiate the backwash/regeneration cycle. Your system is ready to use once the cycle is complete.
- Note : It is normal to see very small air bubbles in the water when new activated carbon filters are installed. These tiny bubbles can give the water a greyish cast. However, they do quickly dissipate in a clear glass. These bubbles will go away once the system becomes thoroughly saturated. This could take several days depending upon water usage.
