VEHICLE SEATING LOCATIONS

According to accident statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seating positions than in the front seating positions. The safest seating position is one that works best for your specific child restraint, family, and vehicle model.

diono Cambria 2 Booster Seat - 4

Before installing this child restraint you must determine the method of installation and the best vehicle seating position for that method.
When determining whether the child restraint can be used with vehicle LATCH/UAS anchors in the rear center seating position, it is critical that you refer to your vehicle owner’s instruction manual. If the child restraint does not install best in the rear center seating location, it is recommended to move to one of the outboard seating positions.

  • The vehicle door nearest the car seat was not damaged; AND
  • No vehicle occupants were injured; AND
  • There is no visible damage to the car seat; AND

SEAT ASSEMBLY

ATTACHING THE BACKREST

|
---|---

  1. With the seat lying flat on the floor, place hooks at the seat bottom as shown.
  2. Attach the backrest hooks to seat mounting points.
  3. Push down on the backrest just above the hooks until fully engaged.
  4. Rotate the backrest to an upright position while maintaining pressure just above the hooks.

INSTALLATION

WARNING! Unsecured objects can become flying hazards and can cause serious injury in an accident. If your vehicle is equipped with lower anchors, Diono always recommends installation utilizing the LATCH/ UAS connectors with this booster seat.
To improve safety and performance, this booster seat is equipped with a lower anchorage system that allows secure attachment to a vehicle’s lower anchor locations.

  1. Disengage LATCH/UAS connectors from storage slots and lay the booster seat on its side. While depressing the cam lock lever, pull the LATCH/UAS connectors away from the booster seat and extend both straps all the way. Do not overextend connector straps.

  2. Attach both LATCH/UAS connectors to the vehicle anchors, starting with the connector that is furthest from you. For ease of use, make sure the open end of the hooks faces upward during use.

  3. While pushing the booster against the vehicle seat, pull one adjuster strap tight and then the other. Make sure that both LATCH/UAS connectors are securely attached to the vehicle’s lower anchors.
    4. Booster seat should rest firmly on the vehicle seat bottom and touch the vehicle seat back. A gap is acceptable as long as the head support is touching the vehicle seat back or headrest. The entire seat bottom should sit flat on the vehicle seat.
IMPORTANT: Try to position the backrest in full contact with the vehicle seat back. It may also be necessary to adjust the recline angle of the booster seat to match that of the vehicle seat.

NOTE: Even with LATCH/UAS connectors properly attached and adjusted, the child seat will still have movement against the vehicle seat’s back and bottom.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use LATCH/UAS if installation interferes with a vehicle seat belt.
IMPORTANT: When using the booster seat in the center seating position, make sure it is stable and does not rock from side to side.
ADJUSTING THE RECLINE ANGLE
IMPORTANT: It may also be necessary to adjust the recline angle of the booster seat to match that of the vehicle seat.
This booster seat features a reclined angle that can adjust to match that of the vehicle seat:

  1. Push the booster seat backrest backward until it moves freely.
  2. Push the seat bottom and backrest of the booster seat down and back into the vehicle seat until there is secure positioning with the booster seat and vehicle seat bottom and vehicle seat back. A gap is acceptable as long as the head support is touching the vehicle seat back or headrest.

DISENGAGING LOWER ANCHOR INSTALLATION
Follow the previous instructions in reverse order.

  1. Reach under the bottom of the booster seat and depress the cam lock lever while pulling the seat away from the vehicle seat back until the lower anchor straps are extended all the way.
  2. Disconnect LATCH/UAS connectors from vehicle anchors.
  3. Pull lower anchor adjuster straps to recess the LATCH/UAS connectors into the back of the booster seat bottom for safe storage.

SECURING THE CHILD

WARNING! Use ONLY the lap and shoulder belt system when restraining the child in this booster seat.
DO NOT use a lap belt only.

  1. Properly position the child into installed seat. The child should be sitting upright and seated all the way back in the booster seat.

  2. Adjust head support to proper height: The shoulder belt guide should be slightly above the child’s shoulders (at least 1 cm). Squeeze the head support adjustment lever on the back of the booster seat while adjusting it’s height up or down to fit the child.

  3. Feed the diagonal portion of the vehicle seat belt through the shoulder belt guide.

  4. Fasten the vehicle seat belt across the child. The lap portion of the seat belt should rest within both lower belt guides. Make sure the vehicle seat belt is not twisted and lays flat across the child’s lap, torso and shoulder.

  5. Tighten the seat belt by pulling the diagonal shoulder belt portion in the direction of the arrows.

  6. Confirm seat belt buckle is in the correct position – it should align with the RED belt path guides on the head support and side of the seat.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT position the vehicle’s shoulderbelt over the armrest. It MUST pass through the lower belt guide.
IMPORTANT: The vehicle shoulder belt MUST route completely through the shoulder belt guide and not fall off the child’s shoulder.
IMPORTANT: The vehicle shoulder belt should lay over the shoulder and should NOT be touching the child’s neck.

PROPER BUCKLE POSITION
IMPORTANT:
After the booster seat is installed and the seat belt is fastened around the child, it is important to confirm the correct seat belt buckle position to ensure secure installation.

CORRECT SEAT BUCKLE POSITION
The buckle is on the outside of the lower belt guide.| INCORRECT SEAT BUCKLE POSITION
If the buckle is being pulled across the lower belt guide and into the seat, choose
another seating position within the vehicle.

While this booster seat is designed to offer advanced side-impact protection with its backrest section attached, the seat bottom can also be used alone as a backless booster.
WARNING! Use ONLY the lap and shoulder belt system when restraining the child in this booster seat.
DO NOT use a lap belt only.
WARNING! ONLY use with children whose ears are below the top of the vehicle seat or headrest.

  1. Remove the backrest by reversing the steps shown in “Seat Assembly.”

  2. Make sure both LATCH/UAS connectors are securely attached to the vehicle’s lower anchors. While pushing the booster against the vehicle seat, pull the adjuster straps tight.

  3. The booster seat should rest firmly on the vehicle seat bottom and touch the vehicle seat back. The entire seat bottom should sit flat on the vehicle seat.
    BACKLESS BOOSTER

  4. Properly position the child: sitting upright and all the way back in the booster seat. Fasten the seat belt across the child. Make sure the seat belt is not twisted and lays flat across the child’s hips, torso and shoulder.

  5. Tighten the seat belt by pulling the diagonal shoulder belt portion in the direction of the arrows.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT position the vehicle’s shoulder belt over the armrest. It MUST pass through the lower belt guide.

NEVER position the shoulder belt loosely or under the child’s arm or behind their back.
USING THE SHOULDER BELT GUIDE STRAP
WARNING!
If the vehicle shoulder belt does not correctly fit the child, then the seat must be used with the shoulder belt guide strap or with the backrest attached and  properly adjusted to fit the child.

|
---|---

  1. Remove shoulder belt guide strap from storage area underneath seat.
  2. Position child correctly in seat, making sure lap and shoulder belts are positioned properly across child.
  3. Attach the RED shoulder belt guide strap onto the diagonal shoulder belt.
  4. Adjust strap to correct length, so hat the RED guide is just above shoulder.
