What’s in the bag?

How to make your Veggieball Christmas Tree

  1. UNBOX THE MAGIC:
Open up your box and take out your 100 toothpicks, shiny gold foil ‘tree’, and bags of IKEA veggie balls. Not using them right away? Tuck the veggie balls into the freezer for another day. Don’t forget to recycle the packaging!

  2. VEGGIE BALL COOK-OFF:
Ready to get cooking? Follow the packet’s instructions and cook up about a bag and a third of those veggie wonders.
Save the remaining two thirds for later by placing them back into the freezer.

  3. POINTY CONSTRUCTION:
Begin to craft your showstopper by removing the protection clingfilm from the gold foil tree. Start sticking toothpicks into the gold foil tree, beginning from the bottom, space them about 3cm apart, angling them upwards – it’s all about keeping those veggie balls perched!

  4. ARTISTIC PLACEMENT:
Once the veggie balls are cooked, let them cool for 10 minutes. Wash your hands and it’s time to begin building! Remember, each veggie ball is unique, so gently place each one onto the toothpicks, adjusting as you go for that perfect Christmas tree shape.

  5. UPWARD ASCENT:
As you climb higher, your tree gets slimmer – fewer veggie balls per row and those toothpicks cozy up closer together. Crown your creation with a single triumphant toothpick and veggie ball at the very top.

  6. FESTIVE FEAST:
Serve your Veggieball Christmas tree with delicious IKEA sauce (just whip it up as per the packet) and a side of sweet lingonberry jam. Take care when you enjoy a veggieball that the toothpick isn’t still attached. Merry Christmas!

  7. SHARE THE LOVE:
Snap a pic of your festive veggie ball banquet and share it on Instagram or TikTok. Tag @IKEAUK and use #IKEAVeggieball to spread the holiday cheer!
