HOME VAULT S2 AND HOMEVAULT S2 PLUS USER MANUAL
This manual applies to both HomeVault S2 and HomeVault S2 Plus ranges fitted with a key lock or electronic lock. Please read this manual carefully before operating and installing your HomeVault; no liability is accepted for fault or damage resulting from incorrect operation.

To operate key-locking models

To open

  • Carefully insert one of your keys into the keyhole, it will only go in one way, DO NOT try to force the key into the lock.
  • Turn the key clockwise until it comes to a stop. Now, rotate the handle clockwise until it comes to a stop to retract the door locking bolts. Open the door by pulling the handle towards you.

To close
Ensure that the door locking bolts are retracted. Gently push the door back into the frame.
Rotate the handle anti-clockwise until it comes to a stop. Check that the door locking bolts are engaged by pulling the handle gently towards you. If the door remains closed; rotate the key anti-clockwise until it comes to a stop. Remove the key. Your Home Vault is now locked.
NB

  • The key can only be removed when locked, it is retained within the lock if open.
  • Never store the second key supplied within your Home Vault.
  • If a key is lost, contact your supplier immediately, and they will advise the best course of action.

OPERATING ELECTRONIC MODELS

The electronic lock is designed for indoor use only within the temperature range of 0°C to +49°C and humidity of < 90%
Low Battery Voltage
The keypad will emit a series of 8 beeps to indicate that the battery fitted is running low on power.

Fitting or Replacing batteries

  • Depending upon your supplier, a battery may already be fitted but it may be necessary to install the battery at first use. A 9V, Alkaline battery is used.
  • The battery is housed inside the Entry Keypad. Follow the steps below to replace/install the battery.
  • Turn the housing ring anticlockwise until it cannot move (about 20°), then gently pull it away from the keypad base. Fig.1
  • Gently take out the battery housing from the bottom side of the keypad and remove the battery from the connecter. Fig.2
  • Connect a new 9 volt battery and replace it with the battery housing. Return the battery housing into the space within the keypad making sure the cable is well within the compartment.
  • There are three alignment tabs on the inside of the housing ring and three corresponding grooves on the keypad base. Locate the housing ring and push it onto the base. Fig.3 Then turn it clockwise until a click sounds. Fig 4

To open electronic locking models

  • Upon delivery, the lock is programmed to accept two codes-The Manager Code, set on the default: 1-1-1-1-1-1 and the User Code, set on the default 1-2-3-4-5-6 Manager Code functions are to a) Unlock the HomeVault
  • To change the Manager Code c) To add or delete the User Code and d.) To enable or disable the User Code The User Code functions are a) To unlock the HomeVault and b) To reset the User Code.
  • Upon delivery codes will be set to the default s of 1-1-1-1-1-1 and 1-2-3-4-5-6.
  • Enter either code, each input will be accompanied by a single beep and a final beep heard when entry is complete.
  • Now simply rotate the handle clockwise to a stop to retract the door locking bolts and pull gently to open the door.
  • Three beeps will be heard if an incorrect 6-digit code is entered, the Home Vault will not open and the correct code should be re-entered.

Wrong try penalty

  • The lock has a wrong code penalty to resist unauthorised access by guessing the Code.
  • If 4 (four) incorrect successive opening attempts are made, the lock will shut down for 5 (five) minutes.
  • During this period the keypad is deactivated and the lock will beep every 5 (five) seconds to indicate it is in lockdown mode.
  • Removing the battery at any time during this period merely pauses the shutdown timer, the countdown will resume once batteries are replaced.

To lock electronic locking models

  • The lock automatically returns to secure mode 6 (6) seconds after entering a valid code.
  • To secure your HomeVault, ensure that the door locking bolts are retracted, close the door and rotate the handle anticlockwise to a stop.
  • The system should now be locked.

Standby Mode

  • To conserve battery power, the system will revert to standby mode if there is no key pressed within 10 (ten) seconds. Entry into Standby mode is indicated by two short beeps.

To change the Manager Code
Always perform these operations with the safe lock unlocked and the safe door open. It is not possible to use 0-0-0-0-0-0 as a code.
Before closing the door, make sure all changes are correct by operating on the new code three or four times.

  • On the keypad input 0-0-0-0-0-0 (six zeros), a single beep will sound for each input followed by a single beep indicating that the entry is valid and the lock is awaiting a change of code.
  • Now enter the existing Code (this will be the default 1-1-1-1-1-1 at the first time of changing).
  • Again a single beep for each input followed by a single beep.
  • Now input a new six (6) digit Code, a single beep for each input followed this time by a single beep indicating that the entry is valid.
  • Re-enter the new six (6) digit code. One beep will sound, indicating the codes entered in the previous steps are the same and the code-changing process is successful.

If three beeps sound the changing process has been unsuccessful, However, the existing code will still be valid so repeat the above process from 1 to 4.
Remember, try the new Master Code three to four times KEEPING THE DOOR OPEN to ensure the new Code has been accepted.

To Add the User Code
Note: By default, the lock will have a User Code installed with a default code of 1-2-3-4-5-6. If this code has been deleted, follow these steps to add the User Code.

  • Enter the Manager Code and hold down the last digit of the code. One beep will sound indicating a valid code entry. Continue to hold down this digit until two additional short beeps sound. This indicates that the system is now in program mode.
  • Press button “1”. One beep will sound indicating that the system is ready to receive the new User Code.
  • Enter a six (6) digit code. Two beeps will sound. Repeat the six (6) digit code. One beep will sound, indicating that the codes entered are the same and the addition of the User Code is successful.
  • Enter the Manager Code and hold down the last digit of the code. One beep will sound indicating a valid code entry. Continue to hold down this digit until two additional short beeps sound. This indicates that the system is now in program mode.
  • Push button “2”. One beep will sound, indicating that the system has disabled the User Code.

To Enable the User Code

  • Enter the Manager Code and hold down the last digit of the code. One beep will sound indicating a valid code entry. Continue to hold down this digit until two additional short beeps sound. This indicates that the system is now in program mode.
  • Push button “1”. One beep will sound, indicating that the system has enabled the User Code.

To Delete the User Code

  • Enter the Manager Code and hold down the last digit of the code. One beep will sound indicating a valid code entry. Continue to hold down this digit until two additional short beeps sound. This indicates that the system is now in program mode.
  • Push button “3”. One beep will sound, indicating that the system has deleted the User Code.

To change the User Code

  • Re-enter the new Code again, each entry is accompanied by a single beep followed by a further single beep indicating that both new entries are the same and that the new user Code has been set successfully.

If three beeps sound the changing process has been unsuccessful, However, the existing code will still be valid so repeat the above process from the start.
Remember, try the new Code three to four times KEEPING THE DOOR OPEN to ensure the new Code has been accepted.

  • In compliance with the 2012/19/UE directive on the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) this product must be collected and recycled separately from household refuse at the end of its useful life.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

Securely anchoring your HomeVault S2 and HomeVault S2 Plus

  • All Home Vault S2 and HomeVault S2 Plus models are designed to be anchored at the point of use to resist unauthorised removal. To facilitate this, all models have two anchor points in the base and two in the rear wall, allowing fixing to the floor or wall or both.
  • Since it may become obscured in the future make a note of the serial number on the sheet below; it can be found on the front lower frame of the unit. This will be needed in the event of any warranty claim.
  • As concrete generally provides the best anchoring possibility, expanding concrete anchor bolts are supplied; if fixing to another medium alternative specialist fixings should be used, these are obtainable from normal hardware sources or can be discussed with a professional installer.
  • NB. Anchoring holes are designed to allow for the use of 10mm diameter through fixings to be used and a minimum of two supplied anchors must be used to conform to the requirements of EN 14450 Level S2 Select a position with a level, good and sound floor and wall to install your
  • HomeVault. Check that no cabling, water or gas services run directly beneath or behind (if wall fixing) the unit and that you can gain full access to the Home- Vault interior when fixed.
  • The following tools are required in addition to a pencil, when anchoring with the concrete anchors supplied. Hammer Drill, Spirit level, 10mm masonry drill, Small hammer, 14mm socket wrench or spanner, Air Cannister or Vacuum Cleaner to remove debris from holes.

  1. Place your HomeVault in its final position and using it as a template, mark the fixing points to be used with a pencil.
  2. Remove the HomeVault and using the pencil marks as guides, drill 10mm diameter holes to a minimum depth of 75mm.
  3. Remove debris from the holes.
  4. Reposition the HomeVault and insert anchor bolts through the base and/or wall using a small hammer if necessary.
  5. Fully tighten bolts.
