Introduction

The USB charger will charge most compatible electronic devices directly without an adapter and can replace a standard duplex receptacle. Tamper resistant shutters provide compliance with the 2011 NEC 406.11. USB protection includes overheating, overcurrent, and overvoltage. This device can beinstalled using back or side wiring.

Application

May be used in: cafeteria, offices, residential, restaurants, meeting rooms, airport lounges, laboratories, salons, hotels, schools, libraries, and workstations.

  • Firmly mount the equipment on concrete or other noncombustible surfaces only.
  • Shield/mask the equipment before renovation and to avoid contamination and degradation.
  • Shield/mask the front cover during installation to prevent damage.
  • Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside equipment.
  • Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
  • This USB receptacle cannot be used if it is replacing a receptacle with top and bottom outlets controlled by a separate circuit breaker.
  • Replace all devices, doors and covers before turning on power to this equipment.

HAZARD OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE

  • Before charging with the product, ensure the device battery complies with the battery charging specification.
  • Turn off the power supply when cleaning the product. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe dirt and contamination from the surface. Do NOT use corrosive chemicals.
  • Charging time depends on the supported charging protocol, power, battery capacity, charging line quality, and other factors.
  • Do not insert foreign objects (e.g., small metal wires, paper clips, liquids, etc.) into USB charger.
  • Heat will emit from the product surface while charging is in progress.
  • Reserve charging is not allowed.
  • Indoor use only

Installation

  1. Tum off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside equipment.
  2.  Use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
  3. Wire the charger according to the diagram in Figure 1.
    • Connect the LINE cable wires to the LINE terminals.
    • the white wire connects to the NEUTRAL terminal.
    • the black wire connects to the HOT terminal.
    • Connect the grounding wire (only if there is a grounding wire).
    • For a box with no grounding terminal: connect the LINE cable’s bare copper (green) wire directly to the grounding terminal on the receptacle (not shown).
    • For a box with a grounding terminal: (shown in Figure 1) connect a 6-inch bare copper (green) 12 or 14 AWG wire to the grounding terminal on the receptacle; also, connect a similar wire to the grounding terminal on the box. Connect the ends of these wires to the LINE cable’s bare copper (green) wire using a wire connector. If these wires are already in place, check the connections.

  1. Tighten the connections and ensure that no bare conductors are exposed.
  2. Insert the device into the standard outlet wall box. Attach the device to the wall box using the supplied screws.
  3. Install the appropriate wall plate. See Figure 2.
  4. Restore power and test system.
