Christmas Trees Wool Mat
12” round mat

This is an intermediate pattern. Basic quilt-making and embroidery skills are assumed. Every effort has been made to ensure these Instructions are complete and accurate. Farmhouse Threads cannot be responsible for variations in workmanship and materials used.

Supply List

• 12” Square tan wool
• 12” square tan fabric for backing
• 3.5” X 4” Light green wool (green wool A)
• 3.5” X 4” Medium green wool (green wool B)
• 2.5” X 5” Dark green wool (green wool C)
• 2” X 3” Gold wool
• 1” X 4” Brown wool
• 3” X 4” Red wool or
• 24 red wool circles 1/4” ea. (included precut in our kit)
• 15 mini red buttons (1/8”)
• Tiny red seed beads
• Embroidery floss to match wool
• Heat ‘n Bond lite fusible web

Instructions

• Cut the layout guide on the dashed lines only. Tape them together on the dashed lines. Use this as a template for the mat background. Using the fusible web, trace and cut out the mat. Leave the paper backing from the fusible web attached to the mat.
• Cut the remaining wool according to the instructions on pages 4- 5. If you are fusing your shapes to the mat, do so while the paper backing is still attached. Peel off the paper backing prior to stitching. (If you use Heat-nBond Lite fusible web, it is not sticky and easy to sew through)
• When all wool and embellishments are stitched down to the mat, lay the fabric backing piece face down and the wool mat face up. Fuse them together. Cut the fabric backing even with the scalloped wool mat. Stitch around the mat edge with 2 strands of green floss using a blanket stitch.
