Brecknell PS330 Parcel and Shipping Scale

General Information

Congratulations on the purchase of your new PS scale. Please read this guide to become familiar with the operation of this product. Save this guide for future reference.

  • Do not put excess weight or drop items on the scale. This could damage the weighing mechanism and or affect the scale accuracy.
  • Do not use or store the scale in a high temperature, high humidity or high vibration area.
  • The batteries should be replaced when the low voltage is indicated.
  • Use a mild soap solution with a cloth to clean the scale, by spraying the cloth and wiping the scale.
  • Do not use any harsh chemical cleaner.
  • Do not wash down or immerse the scale in any way as this would cause permanent damage.

Basic Operations

Battery Installation and Power Supply
The scale can be powered by using the supplied external power supply or by installing 4 AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartments on the rear of the indicator. If using batteries, be sure to observe battery polarity before installing.

Power on
Place the scale on a hard, flat, and level surface. Use a short press of the ON/OFF/ZERO key to power on the scale. The display will show 88888, then show 0.00kg for BPS75 and 0.0kg for BPS150 a few seconds later, the scale will now be ready to use.

Power off
Press and hold the ON/OFF/ZERO key to power the scale off. The scale is set to automatically power off after 5 minutes if the scale is not in use. To disable this function…

  • Press and hold the TARE key, until 300 is displayed.
  • Press the TARE key again and NOOFF will be displayed.
  • Press the UNIT key to return to normal weighing mode.
  • The scale will now remain on until manually powered off.

Unit Selection

Choose the display weight unit from kg, lb, or lb: oz. When in weighing mode, press the UNIT key to toggle between the three units of measure.

Normal Weighing
Place the object on the center of the platter. The scale will display the weight of the object when the reading is stable.

To Perform a Tare
When the weight reading is stable and the reading is 0.0, place the item on the scale and wait for a stable weight. Press the TARE key to take off the weight.

To perform a Count
When in counting mode, this scale can be used to count components of the same weight.

  • Press the COUNT key to enter the counting mode. The display will show 0.
  • To calculate the piece weight of the parts or components to be counted, place a known quantity of parts (25,50,75 or 100) onto the weight platform. A long press on the COUNT key will now display 25pcs.
  • To change the sample quantity, keep pressing the UNIT key, until the correct quantity of parts is shown (25,50,75 or 100). Press the COUNT key to confirm the sample.
  • Place the remaining number of parts to be counted onto the weight platform and the scale will now display the correct quantity of parts on the scale.

To perform Calibration

  • Your scale provides single-point calibration in both lb and kg. Before calibrating the scale, you should ensure that you have a suitable known weight for calibration. Using a larger weight for calibration provides higher accuracy.

  • Power on the scale. After the indicator displays 0.0 or 0.00, press and hold the UNIT key for 3 seconds until the display shows CAL. The display shows, “kg.” Press the UNIT key to switch the calibration unit between “lb” and “kg.” Press TARE to confirm the selection.

  • The indicator will display the default calibration weight. If using kg as the calibration unit, the default calibration weight is 50 kg for the PS165 and 100 kg for the PS330. If using lb as the calibration unit, the default calibration weight it 150 lb for the PS165 and 300 lb for the PS330.

  • Press the UNIT key to switch to other calibration weights (10 kg, 20 kg,30 kg,40 kg, 50 kg, 100 kg, 150 kg, or 50 lb, 100 lb, 150 lb, 200 lb, or 300 lb), if needed.

  • After selecting the Calibration weight on the indicator, press the TARE key to confirm it. Then the selected weight
    will be flashed, put the corresponding weight onto the weighing platform.

  • Press the TARE key to confirm. The blue backlight will turn off. The weight digits will flash for a few seconds before displaying PASS. Calibration is now complete and the scale will automatically return to normal weighing mode.
