MY-PV AC THOR Photovoltaic Power Controller

Product Information

Specifications:

  • Product Name: my-PV
  • Communication Protocol: Modbus RTU (RS485)
  • Compatible Inverter: ZCS Azzurro 1PH HYD 3600 ZSS HP
  • Control Source: ZCS Azzurro (Modb. RTU)

Product Usage Instructions

  1. RS485 Communication Port Requirement:
Before integrating my-PV with ZCS Azzurro, ensure that an additional RS485 communication port is available. Without this port, communication with my-PV will not be reliable. Please note that the AC ELWA-E does not have Modbus RTU (RS485) communication and cannot be connected.

  2. Default Settings on my-PV Devices:
Ensure that the my-PV devices are set to their default settings before proceeding with the integration process.

  3. Communication with ZCS Azzurro (Modbus RTU):
To establish communication between my-PV and ZCS Azzurro, follow these steps:

  4. Connect the my-PV device directly to the ZCS Azzurro inverter using a shielded twisted pair cable

  5. Make sure to use a RTU gateway with a 120 Ohm terminating resistor.

  6. Connection to ZCS Azzurro 1PH HYD 3600 ZSS HP:
For the specific model ZCS Azzurro 1PH HYD 3600 ZSS HP, connect the my-PV device to the inverter using the following pin configuration:

  7. COM Connector : Pin 5 (A) for my-PV

  8. COM Connector: Pin 6 (B) for my-PV

  9. Settings on my-PV:

  10. On the my-PV device, either select “ZCS Azzurro (Modb. RTU)” as the control source from the display or make the same settings on the web interface. Please note that to access the web interface, the my-PV device must be integrated into the local network.

  11. If you have a battery storage (ESS) and you want to prioritize charging, set the control target to -150 W. Otherwise, it is recommended to leave it at -50 W.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):

  • Q: Can I connect my-PV to the AC ELWA-E inverter?
A: No, it is not possible to connect my-PV to the AC ELWA-E inverter because it does not support Modbus RTU (RS485) communication.

  • Q: How should I connect an inverter-controlled AC ELWA 2 with my-PV?
A: When connecting an inverter-controlled AC ELWA 2, you need to have a feed- in meter in the system. This is required for data query by the inverter. The connection is marked by RS485, A, B, and GND.

  • Q: Are there any specific settings for other types of ZCS Azzurro inverters?
A: Yes, for other types of ZCS Azzurro inverters, please refer to the PIN- Table in the respective inverter manual for information about the RS485 connection and the specific pin to be used on the COM port.

Instructions for integrating

AC•THOR / AC•THOR 9s / AC ELWA 2 with ZCS Azzurro

  • Make sure additional RS485 communication port is available for my-PV, otherwise communication with my-PV will not be reliable.
  • A connection with the AC ELWA-E is not possible, because it does not have Modbus RTU (RS485) communication!

Default settings on my-PV devices

  • Before commissioning, it is essential that you read the assembly instructions that accompany the device, as well as the operating instructions available online.
  • Find the AC•THOR operation manual here.
  • Find the AC ELWA 2 operation manual here.

Communication with ZCS Azzurro (Modbus RTU)

  • The combination was tested with the type ZCS Azzurro 1PH HYD 3600 ZSS HP
  • The my-PV device is connected directly to the ZCS Azzurro inverter via three-pin Modbus RTU cabling.
  • Use shielded twisted pair cable!
  • RTU gateway with a 120 Ohm terminating resistor!
  • The M7 operating mode cannot be used with the AC•THOR when controlled by Modbus RTU! MY-PV-AC-THOR-Photovoltaic-Power-Controller-01 \(2\)
  • Three pins on the 8-pin connector of the AC•THOR are the Modbus RTU communication port. The 120 Ohm terminating resistor is not included with the AC•THOR! MY-PV-AC-THOR-Photovoltaic-Power-Controller-01 \(3\)
  • On the AC ELWA 2 the connection is marked by RS485, A, B, GND.
When controlled by an inverter, a feed-in meter is required in the system. Otherwise, the query of the inverter does not provide any data.

Settings on my-PV

  • On the display, select control source „ZCS Azzurro (Modb. RTU)“ .
  • Alternatively, these settings can also be made on the web interface. For this purpose, my-PV device must also be integrated into the local network.
  • If there is a battery storage (ESS) and this is to be charged with priority, then “control target” should be set to -150 W. Otherwise we recommend leaving -50 W.
