Assembly

  • The US1014RGB comes with the Barn Doors (5) installed. If you prefer to remove them, simply take out the 4 Barn Door Attachment Bolts (6). The Barn Doors (5) can be removed or reinstalled anytime you like.
  • Before mounting the US1014RGB onto a light stand you must attach the Light Stand Mount (1) to the base of the light. Do this by placing the Light Stand Mount (1) over the Mount Connector (18) area on the light. Line these parts up and depress the Light Stand Mount Release Button (2) as you insert the Light Stand Mount (1) into the light and slide it upward. Release the button and check the mount to ensure it is securely attached to the light. To remove the Light Stand Mount (1) depress the Light Stand Mount Release Button (2) while pulling down on the mount and then pulling it away from the back of the light.

Mounting the Light:

  • Slide the base of the Light Stand Mount (1) onto the top of a sturdy light stand that has a 5/8” mounting stud. Be sure the Light Stand Connection Knob (3) is loosened and the cavity in the base of the Light Stand Mount (1) is clear before placing it onto a light stand. Now tighten the Light Stand Connection Knob (3). This mount is designed to work with standard 5/8” mounting studs.
  • Once mounted, use the Tilt Control Knob (4) to change the light’s angle. While holding the light, loosen the knob, tilt the light, and then re-tighten the knob. Never loosen the Tilt Control Knob (4) unless you have a firm grip on the light.

Powering the Light:

  • Be sure the light is switched OFF before attempting to connect it to any power source and also before disconnecting the light from any power source. Do this by setting the Power Switch (10) to its center position.

Connecting to AC Power

  • An AC cord is included with this kit. This is, in fact, a two-part cord with a transformer. Locate both parts and connect them together using the figure-8 style connector in the transformer. Next, connect the barrel-style end of the cord to the light’s Power Input Socket (17). Finally, connect the other end of the AC cord to a common wall outlet with a voltage supply of 100 – 240 V.
  • When connecting the AC cord be sure to support the transformer at all times. A stretchy, hook-and-loop strap is included to aid with this. Use the strap to attach the transformer to your light stand by wrapping it around them both, leaving some slack in the cord that goes from the transformer to the back of the light. Never allow the transformer hang or put a strain on the cord or the Power Input Socket (17).
  • Once you have securely connected the US1014RGB to a proper wall outlet power source, push the Power Switch (10) to the right to turn the light ON.

Connecting to Batteries (NP-F or via D-Tap)
Although the US1014RGB includes an AC adapter for connecting to a wall outlet, it can also run using battery power. There are two battery options for you to choose from:

Using NP-F type batteries :
Locate the NP-F Battery Slots (8) on the back of the light. Using two, compatible NP-F type batteries (7.4V / 4,400 mAh minimum), insert them one at a time into these slots with their contacts facing toward the outside of the light. Push and hold each battery against the slot (while supporting the light to prevent it from falling) and slide each battery away from the center and towards the outside until you feel it “click” into place securely. The light requires two NP-F batteries of equal capacity and voltage for proper operation. It will not function with just one NP-F battery. To release the NP-F type batteries, hold your hand against them, and press the Battery Release Button (9) below. This will release the security lock holding the batteries. Remove each battery carefully from the back of the light. With two, charged NP-F batteries installed, push the Power Switch (10) to the left to turn the light ON.

Using batteries with D-Tap :

  • Locate the D-Tap adapter cable which is included with this light and be sure to have a compatible battery with an on-board D-Tap connection (V-Mount & Gold Mount batteries often have a D-Tap) fully charged and nearby. The D-Tap adapter cable has a barrel-style connector on one end and a D-Tap connector on the other. Only use the included cable with this light because it has an internal current regulator to ensure proper and safe power to the light. Insert the barrel end of the included D-Tap cable into the light’s Power Input
  • Socket (17) first. Next, connect the other end of the cable to the D-Tap port on the battery while supporting it. It is important to keep the battery supported so it does not put a strain on the cable or Power Input Socket (17). A stretchy, hook-and-loop strap is included to aid with this. Use the strap to attach the battery to your light stand by wrapping it around them both, leaving some slack in the cord that goes from the battery to the back of the light. Never allow the battery hang or put a strain on the cord or the Power Input Socket (17).

Note: The US1014RGB does not include batteries. ProMaster offers a wide assortment of NP-F type and D-Tap compatible batteries. Contact your local ProMaster dealer or go to www.promaster.com for more information.

Additional note: Only connect the US1014RGB to one power source at a time. With a charged D-Tap battery connected, push the Power Switch (10) to the right to turn the light ON.

Using the Light

  • Adjusting the Brightness
The US1014RGB’s brightness can be changed anytime, while the light is in any mode. Simply press the BRT Button (13) to highlight the current brightness setting on the LCD Display (7) and turn the Main Control Knob (11) clockwise to increase it, or counterclockwise to decrease it. The brightness can be adjusted on a scale of 1 – 100%.

  • Selecting a Mode
The US1014RGB has 3 modes: CCT, HSI, and EFFECTS. Each time you press the MODE Button (12) the light’s mode will change among these 3 options.

  • CCT Mode
CCT stands for Correlated Color Temperature. This is also known as “bi-color” mode. Here the US1014RGB will emit a white light for which you can adjust the warmth & coolness within a range of 2,500K to 8,500K using the kelvin color temperature scale. To adjust the color temperature, press the TEMP / HUE / EFX Button (15) and the current color temperature setting will be highlighted on the LCD Display (7). Next, turn the Main Control Knob (11) clockwise to increase the color temperature setting or counterclockwise to decrease it.

  • HSI Mode
HSI stands for Hue Saturation Intensity. In this mode you can use the US1014RGB to emit a colored light by selecting a hue and adjusting the saturation of that hue. To adjust the hue (color of light) press the TEMP HUE EFX Button (15) to highlight the current setting on the LCD Display (7). Each hue has a number on a scale of 0 to 360. Turn the Main Control Knob (11) clockwise to increase the number or counterclockwise to decrease it. To adjust the saturation of the hue, press the SAT Button (16) to highlight the current setting on the LCD Display (7). Turn the Main Control Knob (11) clockwise to increase the saturation or counterclockwise to decrease it on a scale of 0 – 100%.

  • EFFECTS Mode
This mode is used for creating scenes in video. To change the particular effect, press the TEMP HUE EFX Button (15) to highlight the current effect setting on the LCD Display (7). Turn the Main Control Knob (11) clockwise to increase the number counterclockwise to decrease it.
