BEFORE THE FIRST USE

  • Take the appliance and accessories out the box. Remove the stickers, protective foil or plastic from the device.
  • Place the device on a flat stable surface and ensure a minimum of 10 cm. free space aroundthe device. This device is not suitable for installation in a cabinet or for outside use.
  • Always place the inner pot inside the outer pot before plugging in the rice cooker.
  • When plugging in the cooker, always make sure that the inner pot contains liquid, or be ready to immediately ad oil, butter or margarine to the inner pot.
  • Always dry the outer surface of the inner pot before placing it inside the cooker. Any moisture remaining on the inner pot surface may cause a cracking noise while the unit is heating up.
  • Put the power cable into the socket. (Note: Make sure the voltage which is indicated on thedevice matches the local voltage before connecting the device. Voltage 220V-240V  50/60 Hz)
  • When the device is turned on for the first time, a slight odor will occur. This is normal, ensureadequate ventilation. This fragrance is only temporary and will disappear soon.

USE

  • Before each use, make sure that the outside of the rice bowl is clean and dry and that the heat sensor in the centre, on the inside of the base, is clean, dry and cool.
  • Measure rice and water and place evenly into the rice bowl, see the rice cooking chart.
  • Transfer the rice to the inner bowl and level the surface of the rice. Add sufficient cold water to the corresponding level marked on the bowl e.g. to cook 3 cups of rice, place the washed rice into the inner bowl and then fill with water up to the 3 cup level. You may find that for your own personal taste you need to slightly adjust the amount of water added. For a softer rice add a little more water, and for a firmer rice a little less water.
  • Never put any liquid into the outside bowl. Place the rice bowl into the outside bowl and make sure that the bowl is properly sat unto the base. Close by placing the lid.
  • Plug the cord into the outlet. Depress the switch and the red cook light will glow. The on/ off switch will not stay down unless the rice bowl is placed in the right way: this is a safety feature of this rice cooker.
  • Unplug the rice cooker before removing the lid and rice bowl from the base. If using unwashed rice, a thin layer of starch may form at the bottom of the rice bowl: this is quite normal and can be mixed in with the rice when fluffing as it does not affect the  aste or texture.
