Installation
You will need:
13mm Allen wrench 19mm diameter clamps(standard)
1.Use the standard clamps(1) provided with your existing brakes, or source
clamps with a diameter of 19mm.
2.Loosen the clamp so that it gently clings to the wheelchair frame and insert
the correct summit brake for that side(Right hand brake or left hand brake).
3.Align the Summit brake and clamp(1) so that the braking surface is centered
to the wheel and about 4-7mm(~1/4″) away from the wheel’s surface(For PU
model, brakes should be 3-5mm(~1.8″) from the surface). a.During this step,
make sure that the red switch handle (4) is in the neutral position. There are
three positions, and neutral is the middle position.
4.Tighten the clamp a bit so that it holds the brake in place, but do not
tighten fully 5.Locate the axis screw of the brake(3). You must use a 13mm
allen wrench to loosen
this screw and rotate the brake wheel(6) until the flat part of the brake
wheel is facing the rubber of the wheelchair wheel. Tighten the axis of the
brake firmly once the brake wheel is aligned properly. Again, make sure that
during this step the red switch handle(4) is in the neutral position. 6.Once
again make sure that the Summit brake and clamp are aligned so that the
braking surface is centered to the wheel and between 4-7 mm from the wheel’s

fit)
If you find that there isn’t enough room to mount the brake, you can disassemble the brake mechanism from the brake mount and reassemble it to mount facing the other direction. See the outlined mount below(2).
Methods for Use
Switching the lever handles from neutral will set the Summit
Brakes to only roll in one direction.
Setting the levers forward will allow the wheelchair to roll forward and stop
when rolling back. Setting the levers backward will allow the wheelchair to
move backward but stop when rolling forward. To utilize normal brake function,
levers must be in neutral position.
