IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:

  1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.

  2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

  3. To protect against electrical shock do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.

  4. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

  5. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  6. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow Toaster Oven to cool before putting on or taking off parts.

  7. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Contact Consumer Service.
    NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE UNIT YOURSELF. THIS WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.

  8. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.

  9. Do not use outdoors.

  10. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

  11. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

  12. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other liquids.

  13. To disconnect, turn the dial knob to 0.

  14. Remove the plug from the wall outlet.

  15. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

  16. Oversize foods or metal utensils must not be inserted in the Toaster Oven as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock.

  17. A fire may occur if the Toaster Oven is covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation. Do not store any item on top of the appliance when in operation.

  18. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts involving a risk of electrical shock.

  19. Extreme caution should be exercised when using containers constructed of other than metal or glass.

  20. Do not store any materials, other than manufacturer’s recommended accessories, in this Toaster Oven when not in use.

  21. Do not place any of the following materials in the Toaster Oven: paper, cardboard, plastic, and the like.

  22. Do not cover crumb tray or any part of the Toaster Oven with metal foil. This will cause overheating of the Toaster Oven.

  23. Use extreme caution when removing the crumb tray or disposing of hot grease.

  24. Do not cover the Toaster Oven with anything that would prevent steam from escaping. This may cause warping, discoloration, malfunction or even fire.

CAUTION HOT SURFACES: This appliance generates heat and escaping steam during use. Proper precautions must
be taken to prevent the risk of burns, fires, or other injury to persons or damage to property.

  1. A person who has not read and understood all operating and safety instructions is not qualified to operate this appliance. All users of this appliance must read and understand this instruction manual before operating or cleaning this appliance.

  2. If this appliance falls or accidentally becomes immersed in water, unplug it from the wall outlet immediately. Do not reach into the water!

  3. When using this appliance, provide adequate air space above and on all sides for air circulation. Do not operate this appliance while it is touching or near curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels or other flammable materials.

  4. To reduce the risk of fire, do not leave this appliance unattended during use.

  5. If this appliance begins to malfunction during use, turn the timer knob to 0. Remove the plug from the wall outlet.

  6. The cord to this appliance should only be plugged into a 120V AC electrical wall outlet.

  7. Do not use this appliance in an unstable position.

  8. To reduce the risk of burns or other injuries, do not touch hot surfaces. Use of protective oven mitts or gloves as well as long-handled utensils is recommended.

  9. To reduce the risk of injury to persons or property, unplug this appliance before inserting food. Always keep the appliance unplugged from the wall outlet when not in use.
    CAUTION: Never leave the Toaster Oven unattended while in use.

NOTES ON THE PLUG

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

NOTES ON THE CORD

a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:

  1. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
  2. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding- type 3-wire cord; and
  3. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

PLASTICIZER WARNING

CAUTION: To prevent Plasticizers from migrating to the finish of the counter top or table top or other furniture, place NON-PLASTIC coasters or place mats between the appliance and the finish of the counter top or table top. Failure to do so may cause the finish to darken; permanent blemishes may occur, or stains can appear.

ELECTRIC POWER

If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliance may not operate properly. It should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other appliances.

BEFORE USING YOUR OVEN

  1. Read all instruction included in this manual.
  2. Make sure the oven is unplugged and the Timer is in the “0” position.
  3. Wash all accessories in hot, soapy water.
  4. Thoroughly dry all accessories and re-assemble them in the oven. Plug the oven into outlet.
  5. After re–assembling your oven, run it at 450° for approximately 15 minutes to eliminate any packing residue what may remain after shipping. This will also remove all traces of odor initially present.

Please Note: Initial start-up operation may result in smell and smoke (about 15 minutes). This is normal and harmless. It is due to burning of the protective substance applied to the heating elements.

  • Temperature Control: choose the desired temperature from 150° to 450° for cooking.
  • Heating Selection: Broil, Bake, Toast
  • Timer: Turn clockwise to activate a timer. A bell rings at the end of set time.
  • Indicator light: It lights when timer is on.

WARNING: TO AVOID RISK OF INJURY OR BURNS, DO NOT TOUCH HOT SURFACES WHEN OVEN IS IN USE. SUGGEST USING GLOVES.
CAUTION: Always be extremely careful when removing bake tray, wire rack or any hot containers from a hot oven.

TEMPERATURE SETTING

Turn the temperature dial clockwise to the desired setting. The temperature can be set from 150° F (65° C) to 450° F (230° C).

FUNCTION SETTING

This Oven offers different functions for versatile cooking all in one appliance.
BROIL: Only the upper heating elements are operational in this setting. Turn temperature selector to 450° F for optimal performance.
BAKE: The lower heating elements is operational in this setting.
TOAST: The upper and lower heating elements are operational. Turn temperature selector to 450° F for optimal performance.
NOTE: The temperature accuracy is different at different function settings.

TIMER/TOAST SETTING

OFF

Toast Browning:

0-60 MINUTES: The timer can be set up to 60 minutes. The oven will not turn on without the timer being set. When the time knob is in the 0 position, the oven will not operate.
To set the time, turn the knob clockwise to the desired time, be sure to include the preheat time. Indicator light is lit only when the unit is plugged in and the time has been set. When the timer has reached the 0 position, a bell sound will be heard. Power supply will be cut off automatically.

The timer can be changed during cooking cycle. Just turn the timer knob to the desired time and continue cooking.

IMPORTANT: When using the timer for less than 20 minutes, turn the dial past the 20 minute mark and then turn back to the appropriate time / toast browning setting.
CAUTION: Bread may catch fire if the toasting time is setting too long. Close supervision is necessary during toasting and the timer cannot be set too long.

HELPFUL HINTS ABOUT YOUR OVEN

  • When the oven is turned on, the blue power indicator light will come on and remain lit until the oven is turned off manually or automatically once the timer has been used.
  • When selecting cook time for a particular product or recipe, include preheat time.
  • This oven has a 60 minute timer.
  • Metal, ovenproof glass and ceramic bake ware without lids can be used in the oven. If foods require covering, use aluminum foil.
  • Be sure the top of the container or food being baked or broiled is at least 1½ inches away from the upper heating elements.
  • Turn the function knob to 0 before inserting or removing plug from electrical outlet.
  • Do not put any container directly on the lower heating element.
  • To obtain the best performance from this toaster oven:
    Do not overfill the oven.
    To avoid heat loss do not open the door too frequently
    When using foil to cover a food, tuck the edges of the foil against the sides of the baking dish or pan

HOW TO USE

IMPORTANT: the oven gets hot when in use. Always use oven mitts or pot holders when touching the outer or inner surface of the oven.

  1. Place the Baking Rack in position that will accommodate the height of the food to be cooked. Be sure that the food is at least 1 ½ inches away from the upper or lower heating elements.
  2. Set the food on the Rack. Make sure that you always use an ovenproof container in the oven, never use plastic or cardboard containers in the oven. Do not put any containers directly onto the lower heating elements.
  3. Never use glass, ceramic pans or containers with lids.
  4. Do not let juices run to the bottom of the oven. Use the baking pan and crumb tray when cooking.
  5. Set the temperature as indicated by the recipe or as desired.
  6. Securely shut the door and set the cooking time to begin operating the oven.

BAKE

  1. Insert slide wire rack into lower rack position, engaging rack hooks as directed in BEFORE FIRST USE

  2. Turn temperature control to the desired temperature setting, from 150° F (65° C) to 450° F (230° C).

  3. Position function control to BAKE.

  4. Set timer control to the desired baking time, including the preheat time. The power light will illuminate.
    NOTE: The Toaster Oven will shut off automatically only if timer is set.

  5. Carefully center the bake pan or oven-proof container directly on wire rack and close the glass door.

  6. If you are using the timer, when the BAKE time is complete, a signal will sound and the timer control will finish in the 0 position; the Toaster Oven will shut 0 automatically; the power light will go off.

  7. If the food is finished cooking before the timer has signaled, turn temperature control to the lowest position and the timer control to the OFF position. Make sure the power light is off.
    Important: You must set the timer for the oven to function

  8. Wearing protective oven mitts pull the wire rack out from the Toaster Oven.

  9. Unplug when not in use and allow cooling completely before cleaning.
    Note: You can bake in one of 2 ways:
    • Use baking pan placed on the oven rack
    • Place food directly on the rack
    Note: Be sure food does not extend past the edges of the packing pan to prevent liquids from dripping onto the heating elements
    • Use a metal, glass or ceramic baking disk placed on the slide rack in either the upper or lower rack slots.

  10. If not using the oven timer, turn the timer to 0 once cooking cycle is complete

  11. Open the oven door. Using oven mitts or pots holders, slide the rack out to remove the cooked food.

  12. Unplug appliance if not in use

BROIL

For best results, preheat the oven with the door closed for at least 5 minutes.

  1. Place wire rack onto the upper shelf position.

  2. Place the food onto the bake/broil pan. Juices and fat will drip into the pan.

  3. Turn temperature control to 450°F.

  4. Position function control to BROIL.

  5. Set timer control to the desired baking time, including the preheat time. The power light will illuminate.
    NOTE: The Toaster Oven will shut off automatically only if timer is set.

  6. Carefully center the bake pan or oven-proof container directly on wire rack.

  7. If you are using the timer, when the BROIL time is complete, a signal will sound and the timer control will finish in the 0 position; the Toaster Oven will shut OFF automatically; the power light will go off.

  8. If the food is finished cooking before the timer has signaled, turn temperature control to the lowest position and the timer control to the 0 position. Make sure the power light is off.

  9. Wearing protective oven mitts pull the wire rack out from the Toaster Oven.

  10. Unplug when not in use and allow to cool completely before cleaning.
    WARNING: NEVER LEAVE TOASTER OVEN UNATTENDED DURING BROILING.

HINTS FOR BROILING

  • Broiling is used for tender cuts of meats or marinated meats, fish and some fruits and vegetables. Cooking time is determined by the desired doneness and the distance between the food and the element.
  • Do not place aluminum foil on top of the bake/broil pan. This traps grease and can cause a fire.
  • For best results, thaw frozen meats, poultry and fish before broiling.
  • Trim excess fat from meat and score edges to prevent curling

TOAST

It is not necessary to preheat the oven for toasting.

  1. Place wire rack onto the upper shelf position.

  2. Place the desired pieces of bread directly on the oven rack and close the door.

  3. Turn temperature selector to 450°F for optimal performance.

  4. Position function control to TOAST.

  5. To set the timer control to the desired toast browning level, turn the dial past the 20 minute mark and then turn back to the appropriate toast browning setting. The power light will illuminate.

  6. When TOAST time is complete, a signal will sound, and the timer control will finish in the 0 position; the Toaster Oven will shut off automatically; the power light will go off.
    NOTE: If toasting is completed before the timer control shuts the Toaster Oven OFF, you may shut the Toaster Oven OFF manually by turning the timer control to the 0 position. The power light will go off.

  7. Open the glass door. Wearing protective oven mitts pull the wire rack out from the Toaster Oven. Be careful when removing toast from the back of the wire rack. The inside of the Toaster Oven is very hot. Close glass door.

  8. Unplug unit and allow to cool before cleaning.
    WARNING: DO NOT LEAVE TOASTER OVEN UNATTENDED DURING TOASTING.

HINTS FOR TOAST

  • Remove all protective wrappings from food before placing in Toaster Oven. Follow toaster food directions.
  • Frozen and heavy bread require a darker browning setting (e.g. bagels and English muffins).
  • One slice of bread requires a lighter setting than several slices of bread. When toasting more than one slice of bread, use slices of similar size, thickness and freshness.
  • Stale bread, thin bread or sweet bread products, such as tea cakes and fruit loaf, brown much more quickly than ordinary bread, so they should be toasted for less time.

This warranty does not cover (a) damage due to acts of nature, including but not limited to, lightning, wind, or flood; (b) damage due to accident; (c) damage due to neglect, abuse, misuse, improper installation, mishandling, or failure to follow instructions provided in the product’s Owners Guide; (d) damage resulting from alteration, improper maintenance, or repair by other than JCPenney authorized agent; (e) labor charges for installation, or for removal and reinstallation of the item for servicing; (f) non-rechargeable batteries, consumables, normal wear parts; and/or (g) items used in commercial applications.

REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT AS PROVIDED IN THIS EXPRESS WARRANTY IS THE PURCHASER’S EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY REMEDY. ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE PERIOD OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY.
