General safety warnings for electric tools

WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

Work area safety

  • Keep the work area clean and well lit. Messy or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate electrical tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks that ignite the dust or smoke.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while using a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical safety

  • Power plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use adapter plugs with decent (decent) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Avoid body contact with earthen or floor surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Do not operate power tools in rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power plant increases the risk of electric shock.
  • Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry, pull or disconnect the machine. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or tangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
  • When using a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Using a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
  • If a power tool in the ad operating amp location is unavoidable, use an RCD (residual protection) device. Using an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal security

  • Stay alert, be careful what you are doing and use common sense when using a power tool. Do not use a power tool if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention when using power tools can result in serious personal injury.
  • Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as duster, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
  • Prevents unintentional start. Make sure the switch is in the off position before connecting to the power source, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
  • Remove any adjusting wrench or key before turning the power tool. A key or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool can result in personal injury.
  • Don’t get over it. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power plant in unexpected situations.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, your clothes and your gloves away from the moving parts. Loose clothing, jewelry or long hair can get caught in moving parts.
  • If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure that these are connected and used correctly. The use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

Username and care insurance

  • Do not power the power plant. Use the correct power tool for your application. The right power tool does the job better and safer at the rate it was designed for.
  • Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power plant that cannot be controlled by the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Unplug the power tool from the power source before making adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of accidentally starting the power tool.
  • Store empty power tools out of reach of children and do not allow persons who are not familiar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
  • Maintain power. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may cause the machine to operate. If it is damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power plants.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less prone to binding and are easier to control.
  • Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. The use of the power plant for operations other than those intended may result in a dangerous situation.

Battery charger use and care

  • To avoid injury, use the charger only to charge Hilti Li-Ion batteries that are approved for use with this charger.
  • The place where the charger is used should be clean, cool, dry and protected from frost.
  • The charger must be able to dissipate heat during operation. The air valves must therefore remain indefinitely. Do not operate the charger in a closed container.
  • Maintain the product carefully. Make sure that no parts are broken or damaged so that the product no longer works properly. If parts are damaged or broken, have the product repaired before further use.
  • Use chargers and the appropriate batteries in accordance with these instructions and as specified for this particular model. The use of chargers for applications other than those intended can lead to dangerous situations.
  • Charge the batteries only with the chargers specified by the manufacturer. A charger suitable for a particular battery type may present a fire hazard when used with other batteries.
  • When not in use, keep the battery and charger away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that could cause a short circuit on the battery stations or the charging station contacts. A short circuit between the battery terminals or charging contacts can cause injuries (burns) and lead to fire.
  • Do not store the battery on the charger. Always remove the battery from the charger when the charging operation is complete.

Careful handling and use of batteries

  • Observe the special guidelines applicable to the transport, storage and use of lithium-ion batteries.
  • Do not expose batteries to high temperatures, direct sunlight or fire.
  • Do not disassemble, crush or burn the batteries and do not subject them to temperatures above 80 °C (176 °F).
  • Do not use or charge batteries that have experienced mechanical impact, have been dropped from a height or show signs of damage. In this case, always contact your Hilti service.
  • If the battery is too hot to touch, it may be defective. Place the battery in a place where it is clearly visible and where there is no risk of fire, and an adequate distance from flammable materials. Allow the battery to cool. If it is still too hot to touch after an hour, the battery is defective. Contact Hilti Service.

Operation

Switch on the charger

  • Plug the power cord into the power supply.
  • The green Supply Voltage LED on the charger lights up.

Insert and charge the batteries 3

The batteries are charged in the order in which they are inserted, unless the electrical power to the charger is interrupted. As soon as the electric power returns, the battery on the left side (interface 1) is charged first, followed by the other batteries in interfaces 2 to 4 in numerical order.
For safety reasons, it is recommended that the battery be removed from the charger after completing the charging cycle.
When charging a battery is complete, the charge status display on the battery turns off and the charge status LED on the charger lights up.
Liion batteries are always ready for use, even if only partially charged. The charging progress is indicated by the charging status LED display on the battery.

  1. Before inserting the battery, check that the contacts are clean and grease-free.
  2. Push the battery into the provided interface.
  3. Check that the battery and charger interfaces match (keyed fit).
