Set up your Ring Bridge

The Bridge is required to connect your Ring Smart Lights to the Ring app and other compatible Ring devices

Setting up a Ring Bridge is a straightforward process, and it’s an essential step if you want to expand your Ring smart home ecosystem and use smart lighting devices like Ring Smart Lights. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to set up a Ring Bridge:

Before you begin:

  1. Ensure you have a stable Wi-Fi network available.
  2. Have your Ring Bridge and smartphone/tablet with the Ring app ready.

Step 1: Download the Ring App If you haven’t already, download and install the Ring app on your smartphone or tablet. You can find it in the App Store for iOS devices or Google Play Store for Android devices.

Step 2: Create or Log into Your Ring Account Open the Ring app and either log into your existing Ring account or create a new one if you don’t have an account already.

Step 3: Set Up Your Ring Bridge Follow these steps to set up your Ring Bridge:

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines (the menu icon) in the upper-left corner of the screen to open the main menu.
  3. Select “Set up a device.”
  4. Under “What type of device do you want to set up?” select “Lighting.”
  5. Choose “Ring Bridge.”
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to plug in and set up your Ring Bridge. Typically, this involves connecting it to a power source and ensuring it’s within range of your Wi-Fi network.
  7. When prompted, scan the QR code on the back of your Ring Bridge using the app’s camera.
  8. Wait for the Ring Bridge to connect to your Wi-Fi network. This may take a minute or two.
  9. Once the setup is complete, give your Ring Bridge a name and confirm its location in your home.

Step 4: Add Lights to Your Ring Bridge (Optional) If you have Ring Smart Lights or other compatible lighting devices, you can now add them to your Ring Bridge:

  1. In the Ring app, go to the dashboard.
  2. Tap on your Ring Bridge to access its settings.
  3. Select “Light Group Setup.”
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Ring Smart Lights to the Ring Bridge.

Step 5: Test Your Setup Once you’ve completed the setup, it’s a good idea to test your Ring Bridge and connected lights to ensure everything is working as expected. You can use the Ring app to control your lights, set schedules, and customize settings.

That’s it! You’ve successfully set up your Ring Bridge, and you’re ready to enjoy the convenience and security of your Ring smart lighting system.

Choose a location

  • Determine where you would like to install your A19 bulb.

  • If your desired socket is hard to reach, you can set up your new bulb in an easily accessible socket. Once setup is complete, you can move it to your desired location.

    • Turn off the power.
      Before you continue, make sure you turn off the power to the light fixture.
  • Remove the old bulb.

    • Turn counterclockwise to remove it from the socket.
  • Set up your A19 in the Ring app.

    • In the app, tap Set Up a Device.
    • When prompted, select Smart Lighting and follow the in-app instructions to install your Smart bulb.
    • You’ll need to restore power to the bulb so it can connect to the Bridge during setup.
  • You’re all set!

    • Once your bulb is set up, don’t forget to keep your light switch ON.
    • You will then be able to control your light directly from the Ring app where you can set schedules and link your bulbs to other devices.
