Product Information

The POLYTECTOR III G999 is a gas detector device that utilizes sensor- dependent measurement methods. It is designed to operate within specific environmental conditions, with a permitted humidity range of 5 to 95% relative humidity and a permitted air pressure range of 70 to 130 kPa. The device is powered by a rechargeable NiMH battery module (5.2 V 2100 mAh) and has a maximum operating time of 130 hours, which may vary depending on equipment, use, sensors, and battery age.

The device is constructed with a rubberized plastic housing and has dimensions of 68 x 136 x 39 mm (W x H x D). It weighs a maximum of 395 g and has an IP67 protection class rating, indicating its resistance to dust and water ingress.

Important safety precautions include not charging or opening the device in potentially explosive areas. The charging contacts should always be kept clean, and any dirt can be removed with a damp cloth using clear water. Solvents or cleaning agents should not be
used.

Product Usage Instructions

To switch on the device, press the right button for approximately 1 second. Upon switching on, the device will perform a self-test, including visual and acoustic alarm checks, as well as displays of the sensors and gas types used, including set alarm thresholds.

If the inspection periods for bump tests, adjustments, and annual maintenance are exceeded, an information and warning message will appear. Acknowledge the message by pressing the middle button and arrange for the device to be tested or checked at the next
opportunity.

To switch off the device, press the right button for approximately 5 seconds. Release the button after the countdown ends. The display will show “Switch off”.

The POLYTECTOR III G999 has various alarm types and values:

  • Current value (CV) alarms: Triggered when the current gas concentration exceeds or falls below a specified value. The current value alarms can be set individually.
  • Short-term exposure value (STEL): Shows the average value of the last 15 minutes.
  • Long-term exposure value (TWA): Monitors exposure over 8 hours.

To view individual values in the zoom display, briefly press the right button. Pressing the right button multiple times will display all sensors and the battery charge status in succession. Holding the right button in the zoom display will switch to the detailed
view, showing additional maximum, short-term, and long-term values.

In PEAK mode, maximum values are permanently displayed, and pressing the left button activates PEAK mode. The PEAK symbol will appear in the display. In the zoom display, the PEAK value will be shown in the upper left corner instead of the maximum value
measured since PEAK was activated.
