Ring Contact Sensor

The Ring Contact Sensor is a component of the Ring Alarm system, designed to provide an additional level of security for your property. It can be easily set up and connected to your Ring Alarm Base Station, allowing you to monitor your home and receive notifications on your phone, tablet, or PC.

Product Usage Instructions

Ring Contact Sensor

Set up your Ring Contact Sensor in the Ring app:

  • Ensure that your Ring Alarm is disarmed. If it’s armed, please disarm it first.
  • Open the Ring app and choose “Set Up a Device” in the Security Devices menu.
  • Locate and select “Ring Contact Sensor” from the available devices.
  • Follow the in-app instructions to complete the setup process.

Connect your Ring Contact Sensor to your Base Station:

  • When prompted, scan the QR Code or enter the PIN. The QR Code and PIN can be found on the back of the device, on the box, or on the card included in the package.
  • Pull the tab on the Contact Sensor to connect the battery and turn on the Sensor. Your Base Station will automatically detect it.
  • Track the connection progress of the Sensor using the LED ring. The LED status patterns are as follows:
  • Connected: Blue Solid (5 seconds)
  • Door or window open or Sensor tampered: Blue Blink (1x) or Blue Blinks (3x)
  • Open and close the sensor to test its functionality. Ensure that the app correctly shows the sensor’s status as open when youpull it apart.

Install your Ring Contact Sensor on the wall:

  • Hold the Sensor in the desired location, near an edge of the door or window that will move.
  • Align the magnet and the sensor by placing the magnet on the trim near the sensor. Ensure that the lines on the sensor and magnet are parallel. The maximum allowed gap between them is 1/2 inch.
  • Use the bracket, along with the provided tape or screws, to securely install your Sensor on a door or window.

Additional Information:

  • To change the battery, press the clip and remove the sensor cover. Replace the battery with a fresh CR123A cell.

Set up your Ring Contact Sensor in the Ring app

  • Set up your Ring Contact Sensor near your Base Station
  • To add devices to your Ring Alarm, it must be disarmed. If your Ring Alarm is armed, please disarm it now.
  • In the Ring app, choose Set Up a Device and find Ring Contact Sensor in the Security Devices menu.
  • To complete the setup process, follow the in-app instructions.

Pull the tab on the Contact Sensor
This connects the battery and turns on the Sensor. Your Base Station finds it automatically.

Your Sensor will try to connect to your
Base Station. The Sensor’s LED ring lets you track the progress.

LED Status Patterns:

Open and close the sensor to test it
Make sure the app shows that the sensor is open when you pull it apart.

Install your Ring Contact Sensor on the wall.

Place your Sensor (but don’t install it yet)
Hold the Sensor where you want to install it. Place it near an edge of the door or window that will move.

Align the magnet and the sensor
Place the magnet on the trim near the sensor so that the lines on the sensor and magnet are parallel. The magnet and sensor can be a maximum of 1/2” apart.

Install your Sensor on a door or window
Use the bracket and tape or screws included in your kit.

Additional information

How to change the battery
Press the clip and remove the sensor cover. Replace the battery with a fresh CR123A cell.
