Product Usage Instructions

Trendelenburg Operation

To operate the Trendelenburg mechanism, follow these steps:

  1. Place your hands on the push bar.
  2. Pull the handle up with your fingers as shown in Figure 1.0.
  3. Push the top down to the desired angle (maximum of 13 degrees).
  4. Release the handle to lock the top in place.
  5. To bring the top back to a horizontal position, pull the handle to assist the upward movement.

Backrest Adjustment

To adjust the backrest, follow these steps:

  1. 1. Squeeze the handle located under the right-hand side of the  

    backrest board as shown in Figure 2.0.

  2. Move the backrest to the desired angle (from 0 to 65
    degrees).

  3. Release the handle to lock the backrest in place.

  4. Use caution as the backrest movement is controlled by a gas
    spring.

To raise and lower the cot sides, follow these steps:

  1. Lift the top rail until it engages the locking plunger.
  2. To lower the cot sides, pull the plunger and gently push the top rail down as shown in Figure 4.0.

IV Pole Usage:

The stretcher has four locations for the IV pole. To use the IV pole, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the IV pole at one of the corners of the stretcher.
  2. Use a thumb screw to lock the pole vertically for use or horizontally for storage as shown in Figures 5.0 & 5.1.
  3. Ensure that the supplied IV pole is MR compatible and color-matched to the stretcher. Non-MR IV poles made from ferrous material may be attracted to magnets and should not be used in the MR room.

Braking System

The stretcher is equipped with four non-marking swivel/braking castors. To use the braking system, follow these steps:

  1. The castor is in a swiveling mode when the brake lever is in a horizontal position as shown in Figure 6.0.
  2. To apply brakes, depress the lower part of the lever to a locking position as shown in Figure 6.1.
  3. To unlock the brakes, depress the upper part of the lever.

Important Note: If any of the above instructions give cause for concern, please contact your service provider.

Cleaning Instructions:

To clean the stretcher, follow these steps

  1. Wash the stretcher with a disposable cloth wrung out in a solution of warm water and detergent.
  2. Rinse the stretcher with warm water.
  3. Dry the stretcher thoroughly with paper towels.
  4. If required, the stretcher can be washed down with a hand hot sodium hypochlorite solution up to 1% or 10,000 parts per million chlorine combined with a recommended detergent as specified in the NHS Healthcare Cleaning Manual and the CDC Guideline for Disinfection & Sterilization in Healthcare Facilities.

Do’s and Don’ts:

  • The stretcher should be serviced regularly by trained engineers to ensure continued safety and compatibility. Only trained engineers should perform maintenance to guarantee the correct spares are used. Failure to comply with this may invalidate the warranty and compromise the MR compatibility and safety of the product.

  • This MR Conditional Height Adjustable Patient Stretcher is designed and tested to be used in the MRI Environment.

Transportation weight should not exceed 500lbs

  • All products are labelled inline with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Requirements (MR safe, MR conditional & MR unsafe).

Specification

  • The TR-102 Stretcher is designed to be MR Safe, and is manufactured and tested to the highest standards.
  • The TR-102 is constructed from 3 main materials, these being aluminum, 316 stainless steel and phosphor bronze.
  • The Top Frame, X Frames and the Base Frame are all manufactured from aluminum, which whilst being MR Compatible is also lightweight, thus aiding the easy movement of the Stretcher.
  • The hydraulic system is manufactured from a combination of these three materials. This system is manufactured in house, using the very latest technology to ensure the close tolerances required.
  • A special adjustable flow valve is fitted to the system to ensure the smooth operation of the lowering facility. This valve is set up during inspection and testing before dispatch. Adjustment of this valve must only be carried out by MRIMed trained engineers.
  • It is advisable that this product is inspected and serviced every six months by a  trained engineer.

Important Information

  • This MR Safe Stretcher has been designed for adult patients. If you use the Stretcher to transport a child extra care should be taken particularly regarding the movement of the child across the mattress and the potential for their limbs or other body parts to protrude through the Stretcher sides, potentially causing injury / harm. The TR-102 has been designed for adult patients.

Operating Instructions

Trendelenburg

  • The Trendelenburg can be operated easily by placing your hands on the push bar and pulling the handle up with your fingers as shown on fig 1.0. Push the top down to the desired angle (Max of 13 degrees) and release handle. To bring the top to a horizontal position, pull the handle which will then return the top to the horizontal position.
  • Please note:- when returning to the horizontal position, the upward movement is assisted.

Backrest

  • The backrest is operated by squeezing the handle located under the right hand side of the backrest board as shown in fig 2.0 The backrest movement is from 0 to 65 degrees, this is also controlled by a gas spring.

Raising and Lowering

  • The top is raised and lowered by using the pedals located on either side of the Stretcher, by placing your foot on one of the pedals as seen in Fig 3.0. Push down until you feel the pedal stop (Fig 3.1), raise your foot allowing the pedal to return to its upright position, repeat process until required height is achieved. To lower the top, place foot on pedal and push until pedal stops.
  • At this point a slightly firmer downward pressure is required (Fig 3.2). The top will now lower to your required height or to its lowered position.MRIequip-TR-102-Adjustable-Height-Stretcher-FIG-3

Cot Sides

  • The cot sides are raised by simply lifting the top rail until they engage the locking plunger. To lower pull plunger and gently push the top rail down as shown in fig 4.0.

Intravenous Pole

  • There are 4 locations for the IV pole,1 located at each corner of the Stretcher. A thumb screw allows the pole, both to be locked vertically for use, and horizontally for storage as shown in fig 5.0 & 5.1.MRIequip-TR-102-Adjustable-Height-Stretcher-FIG-5

WARNING

  • The IV Pole supplied is checked for MR Compatibility and is color matched to the one on the Strecther, located under the backrest board.
  • Please ensure that the Stretcher is fitted with the correct IV Pole before entering the MR room.
  • Non MR IV Poles are usually made from ferrous material and therefore will be attracted to the magnet.

Braking System

  • The castor is in a swiveling mode when the brake lever is in a horizontal position (Fig 6.0). To apply brakes depress the lower part of the lever to a locking position (Fig 6.1).
  • To unlock depress the upper part of the lever.

Maintenance:

  • It is strongly recommended that the following checks be carried out on a weekly basis by hospital personnel to ensure trouble free operation of the Stretcher.
  • Check the table top for cracks or other obvious signs of damage or contamination. Report any damage found.
  • Check mattress and corner buffering for any signs of damage or contamination, report damage or clean where necessary with a mild soap and water.
  • Check castors for free movement and locking, check for, and remove any debris that may have become caught in the brake and around the axle. This is a common occurrence and can lead to a shortened life expectancy of the castors if left unattended.
  • Check the backrest for ease of movement and also its ability to lock in any position.
  • Check the raise and lower function of the Stretcher.
  • Check the Trendelenburg function of the Stretcher.
  • Check the cot sides for signs of damage, free movement and the locking mechanism when in the upright position.
  • Check that the correct IV pole is with the unit.

Cleaning

  • The Stretcher should be washed with a disposable cloth wrung out in a solution of warm water and detergent. The Stretcher should be rinsed with warm water and dried thoroughly with paper towels. If required the chair can be washed down with hand hot sodium hypochlorite solution up to 1% or 10000 parts per million chlorine combined with a detergent as recommended in the NHS Healthcare Cleaning Manual and the CDC Guideline for Disinfection & Sterilization in Healthcare Facilities.
  • If any of the above give cause for concern, please contact your service provider.

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Do ensure that the following are observed
  • Where door thresholds or similar obstructions are found (i.e. Lift entrances / exits) care must be taken as hitting obstructions at normal walking speed with the wheels may damage them.
  • The Stretcher should only be used by properly trained staff at all times.
  • The Stretcher must be moved by 2 people when transporting a patient.
  • When a patient is on board the cot sides must be in an upright locked position before moving the Stretcher or adjusting the Stretcher height.
  • The Stretcher must only be used for the purpose for which it was designed.
  • The Stretcher should be kept clean at all times and should be cleaned (see page 8, cleaning section) between patients to prevent cross contamination.
  • No materials with ferrous content should be attached to or placed on the Stretcher.
  • Please be aware of all labels and warning signs on the Stretcher
  • The Stretcher should be serviced regularly, but only by trained engineers, as they will carry the correct spares to guarantee the continued safety and compatibility of the Stretcher. Failure to comply with this will invalidate your warranty and could compromise its MR compatibility and safety of this product.

Don’t

  • Lift the Stretcher upwards by the top.
  • Push the Stretcher over rough or uneven surfaces.
  • Drop heavy or sharp objects onto the table top.
  • Push the Stretcher by the cot sides, these are only for patient safety.
  • Place a weight of over the equivalent of 37½ stone (240kg / 529lbs) onto the Stretcher.
  • Place a weight beyond that normally encountered in normal usage, on either the head or foot sections.
  • Spill oil or other liquid chemicals on the covered mattress.
  • Attempt to rectify any faults on the Stretcher without contacting MRIMed.
  • Use the Stretcher without a mattress.
  • Leave the Stretcher unattended when in use.
