INTERMATIC T7401BC Seven-Day Dial Time Switch
Product Information
The Intermatic T7401BC is a seven-day dial time switch with a spring wound
carry-over motor. It is designed for indoor use only and has a four-pole
single throw configuration. The time switch has a minimum on time of 3-1/2
hours and can perform up to 3-1/2 daily on-off operations. It has a maximum
load capacity of 40A resistive each pole at 120-480VAC, 40A inductive or
tungsten each pole at 120/208/240 or 277VAC, and 1000VA pilot duty each pole
at 120-277VAC. The switch can handle 2HP (24 FLA, 144 LRA) at 120VAC, 5HP (28
FLA, 168 LRA) at 240VAC single phase, 7-1/2HP (24 FLA, 168 LRA) at 208VAC, and
10HP (28 FLA, 168 LRA) at 240VAC three phase. It can also handle electronic
ballasts up to 16A at 277VAC.
The clock motor of the time switch operates on 120VAC, 60Hz power supply.
Product Usage Instructions
- To set ON times, place bright ON trippers against the edge of the CLOCK-DIAL at the desired day-of-the-week and time-of-day for ON operations. Securely tighten the tripper screws.
- To set OFF times, place dark OFF trippers against the edge of the CLOCK-DIAL at the desired times for OFF operations. Securely tighten the tripper screws.
- To skip days when automatic operations are not required, omit trippers for those days.
- To set the dial to the correct time-of-day, turn the dial CLOCKWISE and align the exact day-of-the-week and time-of-day (AM or PM) on the dial with the TIME POINTER. Some adjustment may be needed to compensate for gear backlash. IMPORTANT: Do not move the pointer or force the dial counterclockwise.
Note: Make sure the wire insulation clears the pressure plate when connecting wires to the terminal screws.

WARNING

- Installation and/or wiring must be in accordance with national and local electrical code requirements.
- Use wires rated at least 90°C – COPPER conductors ONLY.
- Replace plastic insulator covering terminals before powering ON.
- KEEP DOOR CLOSED AT ALL TIMES when not servicing.
- NOTICE
- Rotate timer dial clockwise only.
- Do not move the clock hands on the timer. Moving the clock hands can damage the timer.

WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
This Time Switch can be wired to control one to four circuits simultaneously on a seven day schedule. Clock motor voltage may be other than load voltage, but must be as specified. For terminal markings, internal wiring and contact arrangements refer to wiring diagram above. See table for gauge selection. To make power connections Remove 1/2 inch of insulation from wire ends. Tighten terminal screws firmly (2-18 in-lbs). Use solid or stranded COPPER conductors only. May use two wires of the same size and type.

PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS
- TO SET “ON” TIMES, place bright ON trippers against edge of CLOCK-DIAL at day-of-week and time-of-day when “ON” operations are desired. Tighten tripper screws securely.
- TO SET “OFF” TIMES, place dark OFF trippers against edge of CLOCK-DIAL at times when “OFF” operations are desired. Tighten tripper screws securely.
- TO SKIP DAYS, omit trippers for the day(s) automatic operations is/are not required.
- TO SET DIAL TO TIME-OF-DAY, turn dial CLOCKWISE and align the exact day-of-week and time-of-day (AM or PM) on dial with the TIME POINTER. Some allowance may be required to compensate for gear backlash.
CAUTION: DO NOT MOVE POINTER OR FORCE DIAL COUNTERCLOCKWISE.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- TO OPERATE SWITCH MANUALLY: Move MANUAL LEVER below CLOCK-DIAL left or right as indicated by arrows. This will not affect next automatic operation.
- IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE OR TO ADVANCE/RETARD TIME: Reset time-of- day, see step 4 of programming instructions.
