FEATURES
The following is a list of functions that are typically included in composite audio-video matrix switchers:
-
Switching in a Matrix:
You are able to route numerous composite audio and video streams to a number of different displays or destinations using the switcher. This indicates that you have the ability to pick independently which source goes to which display. -
Connectors for Input and Output:
The switcher comes equipped with a predetermined number of input and output ports that can be used to link composite AV sources (like DVD players, gaming consoles, and cameras) to displays (like TVs, projectors, and monitors). -
The following are the input and output numbers:
The Calrad 40-841M will have a predetermined quantity of input and output ports, which is typically indicated as “x In / y Out,” in which x represents the quantity of inputs and y represents the quantity of outputs. -
Controls on the Front Panel:
On the front panel of certain switchers is a set of buttons that, when pressed, allow the user to manually pick the source that is to be presented on a particular output. This makes the use of a remote control unnecessary for immediate switching, as it is beneficial for that purpose. -
Controlled with a Remote:
Many switchers come packaged with a remote control that enables the user to make routing adjustments from a greater distance. -
Remote Control Extender for IR (Infrared) Devices:
Some variants come equipped with an infrared (IR) extender, which enables you to exercise remote control over the connected source devices even if they are housed in a cabinet or other out-of-sight location. -
Control through RS-232:
There is a possibility that more advanced switchers will enable RS-232 control in order to facilitate interaction with more extensive AV systems and automation. -
To be compatible with:
The switcher is compatible with the composite video and stereo audio streams that are typically utilized by older devices. -
Help With the Resolution:
The quality of composite video is normally that of standard definition (SD), and as a result, the switcher needs to be able to accommodate the typical resolution of composite video (for example, 480i). -
The Quality of the Signal:
In order to keep the audio and video quality consistent, the switcher should degrade the signals as little as possible while they are being routed. -
Various Modes of Signal Routing:
A single input can lead to a number of different outputs, multiple inputs can lead to a single output, and other routing options are also available on some switchers. -
Mounting Alternatives:
Some models have the ability to be rack-mounted so that they can be integrated into professional audiovisual sets. -
Audio Follows Video is abbreviated as “AFV.”
This function guarantees that the corresponding audio is transmitted along with the visual source that was chosen. -
Management of the EDID:
In more advanced switchers, the EDID management function might be included to verify that the signals from the various sources are compatible with the displays. -
Indicators of the Status:
It’s possible that LED indicators on the front panel will show which input is active at the moment for each output.
