Carum, Ardo Bellis and Calypso

To safeguard the hygiene of the Ardo breastpumps Ardo Bellis, Carum and Calypso, Ardo medical AG recommends that the surface of the breastpumps and the Carum packaging box be reprocessed immediately after return. The pump surface is reprocessed using a non-phenol disinfectant.
Abrasive agents should not be used. If pumpsets or other accessories have been returned, they must be disposed of because they are intended for personal use.

Important notes

Every time the device is cleaned, it must be switched off, and the power cable must be disconnected from the power supply. Failure to do so may result in an electric shock!
If the pump is contaminated by overflow or another cause, the contaminated parts must be disposed of by the user according to local guidelines.
Do not use cleaners or disinfectants based on phenol! Failure to follow this instruction may destroy the plastic materials due to the formation of fine cracks.

Reprocessing

The device must be cleaned and disinfected each time before it is supplied to a customer. This also applies for the first use after delivery because none of the Ardo breastpumps are supplied disinfected.
Please also comply with the legal provisions and hygiene regulations that apply in your country.

Work station

Unpack and reprocess the Ardo breastpumps at a work station that can be disinfected by wiping down. Keep processed Ardo breastpumps in a separate location to prevent contact with pumps that have not been cleaned and disinfected.

Preparation

Prepare a ready-to-use disinfectant that is compatible with the material (see below). Read the product information on the product and check the expiry date before use.
For your own protection, we recommend that you wear gloves. Please note the safety data sheet for the disinfectant used.
Open the packaging and take out the Ardo breastpump. Dispose of the accessories according to country-specific guidelines.

Operation

Disconnect the Ardo breastpump from the power supply.

Before disinfecting the breastpump, remove any visible soiling from the surface of the Ardo breastpump and its power cord using a damp cloth and a commercially available mild detergent.
Do not allow cleaning fluid to penetrate the connection openings for the pumpset or the electrical connections.
Do not clean the pump under running water or in a water bath.
After cleaning, dry the surfaces with a clean, dry cloth.
Reprocess the surface of the breastpump using a disinfectant that is compatible with the materials (see below). Allow the disinfectant to take effect as described in the manufacturer’s instructions.
Disinfect your work surface after reprocessing the Ardo breastpumps.
