- DO NOT put a carafe into a microwave oven.
- DO NOT leave the empty carafe on the warming plate when the appliance is turned ON, as the carafe may crack or become otherwise damaged.
- The flow valve is located on the bottom of the removable filter holder and is activated when the carafe is removed. This design makes it possible for you to remove the carafe and pour a cup of coffee before the entire carafe is brewed.

HINTS FOR GREAT-TASTING COFFEE
- A clean coffee maker is essential for making great-tasting coffee. Regularly clean the coffee maker as specified in the “CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE” section. Always use fresh, cold water in the coffee maker.
- Store unused coffee grounds in a cool, dry place. After opening a package of coffee grounds, reseal it tightly and store it in a refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
- For an optimum coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before brewing.
- Do not reuse coffee grounds as this will greatly reduce the coffee flavor. Reheating coffee is not recommended as coffee is at its peak flavor immediately after brewing.
- Clean the coffee maker when over-extraction causes oiliness. Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed, black coffee are due to the extraction of oil from the coffee grounds.
- Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted coffees are used.
NOTE: For optimal performance, the unit should be cleaned every 60 days depending on the frequency of use.
USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user-serviceable
parts. Any servicing requiring disassembly other than cleaning must be
performed by a qualified appliance repair technician.
CARE & CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
-
Always make sure Coffee Maker is unplugged and the warming plate is cool before attempting to clean.
-
After daily use, open the lid and remove the coffee filter from the removable filter holder.
-
Pull the filter holder out of the Coffee Maker and wash in hot, sudsy water. The removable filter holder is top-rack dishwasher safe.
-
Wash the glass carafe in warm, sudsy water. If necessary, remove the carafe lid at the hinge. Then scrub the inside of the carafe lid with a soaped kitchen brush. Rinse well. Replace the lid after cleaning.
WARNING: To avoid breakage, handle the carafe with care. Avoid impact. Glass will break as a result of the impact. Use care when filling with water to avoid hitting the faucet. -
Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth to remove superficial stains. For stubborn stains, use a nylon or plastic pad with a non-abrasive cleanser. Do not use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleansers.
-
Dry and replace disassembled parts.
-
Close the lid.
DESCALING
Special cleaning of your Coffee Maker is recommended at least once a month,
depending on the frequency of use and quality of water used in the unit. If
the water in your area is especially hard, the following cleaning procedure
should be performed every 2 weeks, since minerals in water can detract from
the flavor of the coffee and possibly lengthen brew time.
- Fill the carafe with 1 part white vinegar to three parts cold water. Pour water and vinegar solution into the water reservoir.
- During cleaning, more steam will occur than during normal brewing.
- BREW THE VINEGAR SOLUTION UNTIL CARAFE IS HALF FULL. Press the ON/OFF button to turn Coffee Maker OFF. When liquid stops dripping from the removable filter holder into the carafe, remove the carafe and allow the liquid to cool for 10 minutes. When cooled, lift the Coffee Maker lid and pour the liquid back into the water reservoir.
- Close the lid. Return the carafe to the warming plate.
- REW THE VINEGAR SOLUTION again, allowing all the cleaning solution to empty into the carafe. After the dripping has stopped, empty the contents of the carafe.
- Allow Coffee Maker to cool for 10 minutes, rinse by brewing a carafe full of cold water.
- At the end of the brew cycle, press the ON/OFF button twice. Empty water in the carafe. Wash the carafe and removable filter holder in hot sudsy water. Dry parts thoroughly.
- When Coffee Maker has cooled, wipe the exterior with a dry cloth.
STORING INSTRUCTIONS
- Unplug the unit and allow it to cool.
- Feed the cord into the cord storage area located at the back of the unit.
- Store in its box or in a cool, dry place.
