Earplug Warnings (Alerts and Alarms)
The Earplug provides feedback regarding noise level and cumulative average
exposure.
Noise Indicator (optional feature):
Activates when the noise level measured by either noise sensor in each
Earpiece has exceeded the alert threshold. The default threshold approximately
corresponds to 85 dB.
Noise Alert:
Activates when the noise level measured by either noise sensor in each Earpiece has exceeded the alert threshold. The default threshold approximately corresponds to 85 dB. The Noise Alert system is designed to reduce false alerts when the Earpiece is correctly fitted in your ear (as measured within the ear canal with the Earpiece correctly fitted).
Recommended actions upon receiving a Noise Alert include (but are not limited to):
- Fit the Earpieces if either or both are not fitted when the Noise Alert activates.
- Move away from the source of noise if the source of noise is known, and/or practicably possible.
- Check the fit and re-fit the Earpieces if both are already in-ear when the Noise Alert activities.
- Try an alternative Ear Tip, different size and or shape.
- Place an additional Hearing Protection Device such as passive or electronic/communication earmuffs over the top of each Earpiece.
Exposure Alarm:
- Activates, when the equivalent average noise level normalised for an 8-hour working day, has exceeded the exposure action value. Default exposure action threshold corresponds to 85 dB, 8hrs**. Once activated, the LED will continue blinking RED until an exposure reset has occurred when sufficient time has elapsed when you are not exposed to noise. Upon receiving an Exposure
- Alarm contact your supervisor, local safety representative or Safety/Hearing conservation manager for direction on what action you should take. (**
- This can be configured for specific customers refer to your company safety representative for your exposure action threshold)
Over-Protection Indication:
Is given when the attenuation is much higher than needed based on the measured
noise environment at your ear. This might occur when earmuffs are worn over
the Earpieces (double protection) and the ambient noise levels are below 95
dB.
Earplug Data Synchronisation with Cloud
The Earplug continuously logs data*. These data can be synchronised to a
secure cloud data service. Data synchronisation can be achieved through;
