Congratulations and thank you for purchasing this Schwaiger Product. This user manual is an integral part of this product. It contains important information on commissioning and handling.
This user manual is intended to assist you in using the product. Read through the instructions for use carefully. Store this guide safely throughout the product’s entire service life and pass it on to any subsequent users or owners. Check that the supplied package is complete and ensure that none of the parts are defective or damaged.

Intended use

The product is designed exclusively for the playback of audio signals played wirelessly via Bluetooth® from a source device or transmitted via the AUX, USB, or phono connection.
The product is intended for private use only and is not suitable for commercial use.
Only use the product as described in this user manual. Any other use is considered improper and may result in property damage.

GENERAL SAFETY AND WARNING INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING!

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!

Faulty electrical installation or excessive mains voltage can lead to electric shock.

  • Do not operate the product if it shows visible damage or if the power cord is defective.
  • Always check the product for damage before use. Damaged electrical equipment as well as kinked power cords or bare wires increase the risk of electric shock.
  • Do not open the housing but entrust the repair to specialists. Contact a specialist workshop for this purpose. Liability and warranty claims are excluded in the event of repairs carried out independently, improper connection or incorrect operation.
  • Do not disassemble the product into its individual parts. Improper handling can lead to electric shock and malfunction.
  • Only parts that correspond to the original device data may be used for repairs. This product contains electrical and mechanical parts which are essential for protection against sources of danger.
  • Never immerse the product in water.
  • Never touch the product or the connecting cable or the mains plug with wet hands.
  • Never pull the mains plug out of a socket by the connecting cable, but always hold the mains plug.
  • Keep the product away from open flames and hot surfaces.
  • Position the product and the connecting cable so that it does not become a trip hazard.
  • Do not bend the connecting cable and do not place it over sharp edges.
  • Never operate the product in wet areas or in the rain.
  • Do not expose the product to rain or extreme weather conditions e.g., sub-zero temperatures, hail, extreme heat.
  • Never place the product in such a way that it can fall into water.
  • Never reach for an electrical device if it has fallen into water.
  • Make sure that no liquid gets into the product and, if necessary, dry the product thoroughly before using it again.
  • Ensure that children do not insert any objects into the product.
  • When you are not using the product, cleaning it or if a malfunction occurs, always switch off the product and disconnect the power plug.
  • Keep the product at least 20 cm away from pacemakers and other medical devices. Radio waves can affect the function of pacemakers and other medical devices.

Hazards for children and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities (for example, partially disabled persons, elderly persons with reduced physical and mental abilities) or lack of experience and knowledge (for example, older children).

  • This product can be used by children aged from eight years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the product in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.
  • Keep children younger than eight years away from the product and the connecting cable.
  • Do not leave the product unattended during operation.
  • Do not allow children to play with the packaging film. Children can get caught in it while playing and suffocate.

Improper handling of the product may cause an explosion or fire.

  • Keep the product away from water, other liquids, open flames, and hot surfaces.
  • Do not cover the product with objects or clothing.
  • Ensure that the product is adequately ventilated. Keep a distance of at least 5 cm from the rear panel of the device and at least 1 cm from both sides to walls or other objects.
  • Do not place open fire sources, such as lighted candles, on or near the product.
  • Keep a distance of at least 5 cm from easily flammable materials.

Continuous listening at high volume can cause hearing damage.

  • Prevent damage to health and avoid listening at high volume levels for long periods of time.
  • Always keep a certain distance from the product at high volumes and never keep your ears directly to the speaker.

Improper handling of the product may result in damage to the product.

  • Place and operate the product on an easily accessible, level, dry, heat-resistant, vibration-free, and sufficiently stable base to prevent the product from falling. Do not place the product at the edge or on the edge of the base.
  • Never place the product on or near hot surfaces (e.g., stove tops).
  • Do not bring the product into contact with hot parts.
  • The power outlet must be located near the product and must be easily accessible.
  • All multimedia devices connected to the product must comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive.
  • Unplug the product during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
  • Never expose the product to high temperature (heating, etc.) or weather (rain, etc.).
  • Never pour liquid into the product.
  • Never immerse the product in water for cleaning and do not use a steam cleaner for cleaning. The product may otherwise be damaged.
  • Do not use the product if the plastic components of the product are cracked or deformed. Replace damaged components only with suitable original spare parts.

OPERATION IN DETAIL

Check product and scope of delivery

Risk of damage!
If you open the packaging carelessly with a sharp knife or other pointed objects, the product can be damaged quickly.

Be very careful when opening it.

  1. Remove the product from the packaging.
  2. Check if the delivery is complete.
  3. Check whether the product or the individual parts show any damage. If this is the case, do not use the product. Contact the hotline or e-mail address specified in this instruction manual.

Please note that the product has no mechanical buttons, but is controlled via touch-sensitive keys on the housing. To control the functions described below, do not touch the respective keys at the top of the labelling, but at the printed dot on the bevelled back of the housing.

Connect power supply unit

NOTE:

RISK OF DAMAGE!

Operate the product only from grounded outlets rated 100 – 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz. If you are unsure of the power supply at the installation site, check with the relevant power supplier.

  1. Place the product on a dry, horizontal, and heat-insensitive surface.
  2. Unwrap the power cord connected to the mains adapter (4) completely.
  3. Insert the DC plug of the mains adapter (4) into the DC socket (12) on the back of the product.
  4. Insert the mains plug into an easily accessible and properly installed socket outlet (protective contact type F CEE 7/4 or Euro type C CEE 7/17).

The Hi-Fi speaker system (1) is now powered and ready for use.

Switching the product on/off

  • To switch the product on, press the Standby button (6) on the top of the product.
  • To switch the product off, press the Standby button (6) again.

Adjusting the volume

Touch the Volume + button (10) to increase the volume or the Volumebutton (9) to decrease the volume.
To mute the volume completely, touch the Volumebutton (9) until no sound is heard. To unmute the volume, touch the Volume + button (10) until the volume returns to an audible level.

Selecting playback mode

The product has a total of four different playback modes: Bluetooth®, AUX IN, Phono, and PC-USB. To select between the different playback modes, touch the Mode button (7) one or more times. If no cable is connected to the product, the default mode after switching on is always Bluetooth® mode.

Status LED

The product has a status LED (3) on the front and LEDs in the two vacuum tube amplifiers (2). The LEDs light up in different colours to indicate the respective playback mode:

Connection via Bluetooth®

To output the sound of your external player (e.g., smartphone) via Bluetooth® to the product, you must first connect the devices to each other.

  1. Switch on the Bluetooth® function on your external player

  2. Switch on the product as described above. Then press the Mode button (7) once or several times until you have selected the Bluetooth® playback mode.

  3. Touch the Bluetooth® button (8) on the product to enter Bluetooth® pairing mode.

  4. Let your external player/smartphone search for Bluetooth® devices. You will find more information
    on this in the instruction manual of your external player. After the search “BS-37” should also be listed in the list of devices found.

  5. Select “BS-37” from the list of devices found. You will hear a confirmation tone on the product. The connection has been made and your product is now working as a Bluetooth® playback device. All sounds that would otherwise be played by your player/smartphone will now be played by the product.

  6. To disconnect, touch the Bluetooth® button (8) again. A confirmation tone sounds again.

If your external player is already connected to the product via Bluetooth®, the two devices can automatically reconnect after switching on again.

Connection via NFC

For a faster wireless Bluetooth® connection between an external player (e.g., smartphone) and the product without manual setup, the product also features NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. To connect via NFC, proceed as follows:

  1. Switch on the Bluetooth® function and NFC on your external player. You will find more information on this in the instruction manual of your external player.
  2. Switch on the product as described above. Then press the Mode button (7) once or several times until you have selected the Bluetooth® playback mode.
  3. Touch the Bluetooth® button (8) on the product to enter Bluetooth® pairing mode.
  4. Hold your player/smartphone close (a few centimeters) to the NFC sensor (11) on the product.
  5. The smartphone recognises the product, and a message appears on the smartphone display. Confirm this.
  6. The connection is complete, and your product is now working as a Bluetooth® playback device.

AUX mode

You can also play the sound of an external player (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) via the AUX input (14) of the product. The connection is made via the 3.5 mm jack cable (5) included in the scope of delivery or a similar cable. Proceed as follows:

  1. Switch on the product as described above. Then press the Mode button (7) once or several times until you have selected AUX mode.
  2. Now insert one plug of the 3.5 mm jack cable (5) into a corresponding socket on your external player. Insert the other plug of the 3.5 mm jack cable (5) into the AUX input (14) of the product.
  3. Now control the audio playback via your external player. The sound is played back via the product.
  4. To disconnect, remove the 3.5 mm jack cable (5) from the AUX  input (14) of the product.

Phono mode

You can play back the sound of a record player with MM pick-up via the phono input (15) of the product. The connection is made using the 3 .5 mm jack cable (5) included in the scope of delivery or a similar cable. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Switch on the product as described above. Then press the Mode button (7) once or several times until you have selected the Phono mode.
  2. Now insert one plug of the 3.5 mm jack cable (5) into a corresponding socket on your record player. Plug the other plug of the 3.5 mm jack cable (5 ) into the phono input (15) of the product.
  3. Now control the audio playback via your record player. The sound is played back via the product.
  4. To disconnect again, remove the 3.5 mm jack cable (5) from the phono input (15) of the product.

PC-USB mode

You can play the sound of a computer or laptop via the PC-USB socket (13) of the product. The connection is made via a suitable USB cable (not included). To do this, proceed as follows:

  1.  Switch on the product as described above. Then press the Mode button (7) once or several times until you have selected the PC-USB mode.
  2. Now insert the plug of a USB cable into a corresponding socket on your computer or laptop. Insert the USB 2.0 B plug of the USB cable into the PC-USB socket (13) of the product. No additional software installation is necessary.
  3. Now control the audio playback via your computer or laptop. The sound is played back via the product.
  4.  To disconnect, remove the USB cable from the PC-USB socket (13) of the product.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The product cannot be switched on

Make sure that the product is correctly connected to the supplied mains adapter and that it is plugged
into a properly installed power outlet. To switch on, touch the Standby button (6) at the printed dot on the bevelled back of the housing.
I cannot connect the product via Bluetooth® to my smartphone
Make sure that the Bluetooth® function on your smartphone is switched on and that it is not more than 10 m away from the product. Also make sure that the product is in Bluetooth® pairing mode (status LED and lights in the vacuum tube amplifier flash green).
If the product is already connected to another device via Bluetooth®, first disconnect this connection, either directly on your device or by pressing the Bluetooth® button (8) on the product and then switch the product back to Bluetooth® pairing mode.

I cannot connect the product to my smartphone via NFC
Make sure that your smartphone has the NFC function and switch it on manually if necessary. Also make sure that your smartphone is not locked while you want to connect it to the product via NFC. Hold the smartphone directly over the NFC sensor (11) on the product for approx. 5 seconds. Also check whether the product is in Bluetooth® pairing mode (status LED and lights in the vacuum tube amplifier flash green).
Please note that not all smartphones support the NFC function. In this case, establish the Bluetooth® connection manually.

I cannot establish a Bluetooth® connection with my smartphone even after several attempts
If a connection via Bluetooth® is not successful even after several attempts, first switch off the product for approx. 3 minutes and then restart it. If necessary, also restart your smartphone.

  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, brushes with metal or nylon bristles, or sharp or metallic cleaning objects such as knives, hard spatulas, and the like. These can damage the surfaces.
  • Disconnect the power plug before cleaning the product.
  • Clean the product with a soft, dry cloth.
  • If the product is stubbornly dirty, use a slightly damp cloth and a little mild detergent if necessary.
  • Allow all parts to dry completely afterwards.

Storage

All parts must be completely dry before storage

  • Always store the product in a dry place.
  • Store the product out of reach of children, securely closed and at a storage temperature between 5 °C and 20 °C (room temperature).
