Overview

Upgraded drivers

The Silver FX 7Gs dual 1″ tweeters use Monitor’s famed gold dome Ceramic- Coated Aluminum Magnesium (C-CAM) material. But this latest version has an updated waveguide designed to eliminate as much distortion as possible. The company also revamped the tweeter’s magnet for tighter control of the driver, resulting in more detail across its frequency range.

The 6″ mid/bass driver uses an improved C-CAM cone material, this time employing rigid surface technology for tighter mid and bass response and better dynamics. All three drivers combine to give you more engaging surround effects you can enjoy for hours on end.

Surround speakers that fit flush against your wall

The FX 7Gs have a clean look and don’t take up a lot of space in your room. They owe their tidy appearance to their slim profile and sporty magnetic grille. The speakers fit flush against your wall and there are dedicated keyhole wall mounts on the rear. The  speaker wire terminals are recessed into the cabinet to ensure a flush fit. The cabinet is entirely sealed, so having them against your wall won’t hurt their sound a bit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long to run in Monitor Audio speakers?

Playing background music or our CD for jogging in at low to medium volume for 50 to 70 hours will break in your speakers. Even after the 70-hour mark, you could notice that the sound quality keeps getting better.

What should I do with my centre speaker?

The typical options are slightly above or beneath the TV. To help direct the sound, the tweeter should be placed closest to the listener’s ears. It’s crucial that the sound seems to be coming from the TV because the centre channel’s role is to anchor speech and other on-screen noises to the screen (up to 60% of a typical movie soundtrack comes through the centre channel).

What does bi-wiring mean?

The loudspeaker has two independent sets of terminals that are used for bi- wiring. The bottom terminals of our loudspeakers are connected to the bass driver(s), while the top terminals are connected to the tweeter (in 2 way loudspeakers) and the mid and tweeter in the 2 12 and 3 way loudspeakers, respectively. Electrical distance separates them from one another. As inputs on the signal line become less congested, you will have a frequency response and amount of detail that are superior to those of ordinary wiring.

Can I set my surround speakers to a different speaker range?

Should I turn on my subwoofer?

Sure, you do. A subwoofer drive unit operates in the exact same way as a regular drive unit, only on a larger scale. Additionally, the electronics need some time to settle in. A sub woofer should be run in for 60 to 80 hours.

Does the configuration of my surround sound system depend on the size and form of my room?

We’ll attempt to give you a few pointers and suggestions, but ultimately, the best sounds come from experimentation. It is recommended to put the surround speakers on sidewalls parallel to the main seating location in a “long” room setup with the seating in the middle of the space. In this room layout, if they were installed on the back wall, the sound stage might have a noticeable “hole,” causing sounds to “jump” from front to back rather than transition smoothly. You might get away with speakers being placed on the rear wall of a “short” room setup with seating.

If I have an amp that is more powerful than the speakers’ rated power, will that harm my speakers?

There shouldn’t be a major issue as long as you as the client are smart when it comes to operating the speakers and the power rating of the amp is not significantly higher than the power rating of the speakers (50 watts or more). Head room can actually be beneficial because it can produce a clearer sound at lower volumes and reduce the likelihood of clipping or distortion at higher volumes.

Whenever you do this, keep in mind that different ranges will sound tonally different.

However, as long as you aren’t mixing ranges for the main stage, you can easily get away with this because the goal is to provide affect or ambiance.

How high should I mount my surround speakers on the wall?

When seated, we normally advise placing the device 2 feet above ear level for the best listening experience (averages typically about 6 ft. from floor to base).

How should I connect my speakers?

Playing background music or our CD for jogging in at low to medium volume for 50 to 70 hours will break in your speakers. Even after the 70-hour mark, you could notice that the sound quality keeps getting better.

What happens if the speaker’s power handling capacity is lower than the amplifier’s rating?

The amp will work too hard to keep up with the speaker if the power rating of the amp is significantly lower than that of the speaker. This indicates that the amp will “clip,” which can result in greater harm than overrating the speakers.

How high should surround sound speakers be?

Place the surround speakers about two feet above sitting ear height, which is typically 6 feet, when installing immersive audio speakers. When employing immersive formats, the ideal height is a little debatable because some experts recommend placing surround speakers at ear height with tolerances up to 2 feet above ear height.

Where are Monitor Audio speakers made?

In a plant in Teversham, near Cambridge, England, Monitor Audio got its start. In 1976, Monitor Audio moved to a factory in the centre of Essex and internalised its manufacturing process. It relocated to a bigger location in nearby Rayleigh in 2000, where it still is today.

How many speakers do I need for surround sound?

You need two to three speakers in front of you, two to three speakers on either side of you, and two to three speakers behind you for a full surround- sound system. In order for the various speakers to produce varied sound information, the audio stream is divided into numerous channels. The front speakers produce the loudest noises.

Do monitor audio make good speakers?

They are among the British manufacturer’s most popular floorstanding speakers to date because they are “built like a breezeblock,” have “exceptionally superb sound” from its 16.5cm mid/bass driver and 26mm alloy tweeter, and feature these features.

Where is the best place to place a subwoofer?

The output of a subwoofer may rise if it is placed in the corner of a room, making the sub sound louder. See how it sounds by trying to position your subwoofer in a corner. If the corner is too distant from your listening location, it might not be a good alternative for your subwoofer depending on your floor space.
