PUR SPAS BALBOA VS300 Equipment Electronic Box
Product Information
The product is a Balboa VS300 equipment for hot tubs. It is designed for certified electricians to convert a 120V hot tub to 240V. The equipment includes an electronic box located under the keyboard, behind the side panel. The guide provides detailed instructions on how to perform the conversion, along with important information regarding the use of a GFCI breaker and the appropriate wire to be used.
Product Usage Instructions
- Ensure you are a certified electrician before attempting the conversion.
- Locate the electronic box under the keyboard, behind the side panel.
- Open the electronic box.
- Change the DIP Switch by turning #10 to the OFF position (down).
- Read the user’s manual that came with the hot tub for additional useful information.
- Make sure the switches are in the following positions: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10.
- Remove the white cable from J11 to J32.
- Use a 40 amp GFCI when operating on 240V. For 120V use, a GFCI directly into the wire is provided and must only be plugged into a dedicated 15 amp hot tub outlet.
- Connect the necessary cables to the 240V as instructed in Annex 1 and refer to the wire information in Annex 2.
- Close the electric box, seal the Thermofoil, and close the side panel.
- Open the hot tub and ensure the start-up numbers on the keyboard are 100, 59, 41, and 24 to confirm the spa is on 240V.
- Remember to use a GFCI breaker and connect the spa to your house’s electrical panel.
- If the spa is more than 50′ from the wall outlet, use a grounded 6 AWG/3 wire. If it is located within 50′ from the wall outlet, use a grounded 8 AWG/3 wire.
- If your spa only runs on a 220V electrical circuit, no conversion is needed for the spa pack. If it is convertible from 110V to 220V, refer to the instructions inside the spa pack cover for conversion instructions.

DON’T HESITATE TO READ THE USER’S MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE HOT TUB. LOTS OF USEFUL INFORMATION IS INCLUDED.
CONVERTING A 120V HOT TUB TO 240V:
A HOW-TO GUIDE FOR CERTIFIED ELECTRICIANS

The electronic box is located under the keyboard, behind the side panel;

Open the electronic box;

Change the DIP Switch;
A Turn #10 to the OFF position (down);
MAKE SURE THE SWITCHES ARE IN THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS: -
Remove the white cable from J11 to J32;

Connect the necessary cables to the 240 V. See diagram in Annex 1 and information on wire in Annex 2;

Close the electric box, seal the Thermofoil and close the side panel;

Open the hot tub. On the keyboard, start up numbers should be 100, 59, 41, 24. If not, the spa is not on 240 V.
IMPORTANT
- You must use a 40 amp GFCI when on 240V.
- For 120V use, a GFCI directly into the wire is provided and must only be plugged into a dedicated 15 amp hot tub outlet.
DON’T FORGET
Remove the white cable that joins J11 to J32
- Otherwise, there is a risk of burning out the fuse or damaging the electronic board.
Do not connect anything in the J1 zone when on the 240V
- Otherwise, risk of overheating of the pump.
On the DIP switch, set position 10 down
- Otherwise, the hot tub will continue to heat as if it were on 120V.
Install 3 wire stands
- If the electrician uses 2 wire stands, the spa will continue to operate on 120V.

- If you plan to operate your spa using a 220V electrical supply, you will be required to install a 220V 40A (minimum) GFCI breaker.
- You have to connect your spa to this GFCI breaker and your home electrical panel.
WHICH WIRE TO USE?
- If the spa is more than 50’ from the wall outlet: a grounded 6 AWG/3 wire
- If the spa is located within 50’ from the wall outlet: a grounded 8 AWG/3 wire
Don’t forget, we recommend using a certified electrician to install your GFCI breaker and to connect your spa to your house electrical panel. If your spa only runs on a 220V electrical circuit, no conversion is needed for the spa pack.
If your spa is convertible from 110V to 220V, you will find instructions to convert the spa pack on the inside of the spa pack cover.
