SPECIAL CORD SET INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE FIRST USE

Unwind the power cord. Check that the crumb tray is in place and that there is nothing in the toaster slots. Plug power cord into the wall outlet.

GENERAL OPERATION

1. Insert slice(s) of bread

Slots are large enough for 4 regular-sized slices or 2 long slices.
Note: Make sure that the lever is in the up position.

2. Set the browning level

Turn dial to desired shade setting number 1–7. Shade range is as follows:

SETTING                COLOR

1–2                          light
3–4                          medium
5–7                          dark

3. To begin toasting

Press the carriage lever until it locks in the down position and toasting will begin.

4. Select desired bread options

Bagel, Reheat and/or Defrost can only be selected once the lever is in the down position and toasting has started. Blue indicator will light up indicating function has been selected.

5. To stop cycle

When the toasting cycle is finished, the toast will be raised. If you wish to stop the cycle before it is finished, simply touch the Cancel button.

FUNCTIONS

Bagel

The Bagel function adds extra time to the toasting cycle to allow for thicker breads. Bagel LED will be lit when selected.

Defrost

The Defrost function is a longer cycle designed to first defrost and then toast the bread to the desired browning shade. Defrost LED will be lit when selected.

Reheat

The Reheat function allows to reheat bread without browning or toasting. Reheat LED will be lit when selected.

Cancel

The Cancel function will stop the toasting process and automatically lift the bread.

TIPS AND HINTS

Notes on Browning

Toasting is a combination of cooking and drying of the bread. Therefore, differences in moisture level from one item to another can result in varying toasting times.

  • For slightly dry bread, use a lower setting than you normally
  • For very fresh bread or whole-wheat bread, use a higher setting than normal.
  • Breads with very uneven surfaces (such as English muffins) will require a higher toast setting.
  • Thickly cut pieces of bread will take longer to toast, sometimes significantly longer, since more moisture must be evaporated from the bread before toasting can Very thick pieces may require two cycles.
  • When toasting raisin or other fruit breads, remove any loose raisins, , from the surface of the bread before placing into the toaster. This will help prevent fruit pieces from falling into the toaster or sticking on the guide wires in the slots.

Use the Defrost function to defrost and then toast these items.
Simply insert the frozen item, select desired function, select Defrost, select desired browning setting (1–7) and then press down the lever to start.

Toaster Pastries

Exercise caution with toaster pastries; the filling can become quite hot long before the surface of the pastry gets browned. Start by using the lightest setting. Never leave toaster pastries unattended while toasting or warming.
