Aquatic Life 420696 G3 T5 HO Hybrid 4-Lamp Mounting System Fixture

420696 G3 T5 HO Hybrid 4-Lamp Mounting System Fixture

Thank you for purchasing an Aquatic Life T5HO G3 Hybrid Fixture.
When maintained properly, this unit will provide you with years of service.

Your G3 Hybrid fixture allows for the power cords to exit the same side of the fixture. In addition, the endcaps that conceal the cords can be adjusted for peninsula tank installations. The power cord uses a C14 type connector, to easily switch the type of power outlet plug or extend the length of the cord.
The HEP® brand ballasts work with 100-277 V, 50-60 Hz electric and use end-of- life protection to prevent bad lamps from lighting.
WE TEST EACH FIXTURE BALLAST PRIOR TO SHIPPING THE FIXTURE. IF LAMPS DO NOT WORK, REFER TO THE TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION.

A) READ & FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
B) DANGER
To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself; contact Aquatic Life for assistance

  1. If the appliance falls into the water, DON’T reach for it! First unplug it and then retrieve it. If electrical components of the appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately. (Non-immersible equipment only)
  2. If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source. (Immersible equipment only)
  3. Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
  4. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
  5. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted  receptacle to preventwater from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A “drip loop,” should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance toa receptacle. The “drip loop” is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle, or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle. If the plug or receptacle does get wet, DON’T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance.
Then, unplug and examine for presence of water in receptacle.
    Electric Plug
    C) Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
    D) To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs, etc.
    E) Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank the cord to pull the plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
    F) Do not use an appliance for other than intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
    G) Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
    H) Make sure an appliance mounted on a tank is securely installed before operating it.
    I) Read and observe all the important notices on the appliance.
    J) If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.
    K) For added safety, the appliance can be plugged into a receptacle controlled by a GFCI (ground fault interrupter) circuit breaker. The device must be properly connected to a grounded three-prong receptacle. Not all GFCI outlets work with electronic ballasts.
    L) This appliance is intended FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
    M) SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

FIXTURE ASSEMBLY

Step 1 – Lay the two fixtures upside down on a surface that won’t scratch the finish.
Power cords should be positioned on the same sides as pictured.

| NOTE: It is important for the reflector side to be facing up for assembly.
---|---

Step 2 – Attach the two metal endplates to each side of the fixtures using the four machine screws and nuts.

Repeat on other end of fixture to secure the second Endplate.

Step 3 – Before installing the Endcaps, it is important to route your LED fixture cords along one or both sides of the fixture endplate.

Step 4 – Install both Endcaps on each end of the fixture. There is a top and bottom to the Endcaps. The ribbed side is the top, smooth side is the bottom. Route cords through open end of Endcap.

Step 5 – Install the two long screws through the Endcap corners on the non-cord side of the fixture.

Step 6 – Remove the reflector protective film and install the T5HO lamps of your choice into the silicone endcaps. Secure the lamps with the clip at the end of each lamp.

Step 7 – Turn fixture over and install the LED fixture brackets and then secure your LED fixture to the brackets. Use the short screws to lock the brackets in place.

Step 8 – Pull any excess LED cords through the Endcap(s) so there is no excess cord in themiddle of the Hybrid fixture.

SUSPENSION HARDWARE INSTALLATION

Step 1 – Turn the end of the suspension hardware counter-clockwise to widen the end and insert into the opening in the center of  the fixture. Slide the suspension hardware toone side of the fixture. Repeat with the other suspension cable and slide to the opposite side of the fixture.

Step 2 – Turn the suspension top clockwise to lock in place

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM:
One side of the Hybrid Fixture is not working.

99.9% of the time when one side of the Hybrid fixture is not working, it is a lamp issue. Even new lamps can be prone to not working.

The HEP® brand ballasts used in the Hybrid fixtures include an end-of-life protection feature. This means if one of the lamps isn’t firing properly, it will stop the ballast from working.

This feature prevents the lamp from overheating and possibly causing a fir

LAMP TEST:
Unplug the power cord from the power outlet. Now plug the fixture back into a live power outlet.
DO THE LIGHTS FLASH ON AND THEN GO OFF?
IF YES, you have one or two bad lamps and need to replace your lamps.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS IF ONE FIXTURE IS NOT WORKING:

  1. Unplug both sides of the Hybrid fixture and turn it over so you can see the lamps.
  2. Number the silver ends of the lamps with a permanent marker (1, 2, 3, 4).
  3. Plug in both sides of the Hybrid fixture and note which number lamps are not working.
  4. Unplug the two fixtures swap the lamps between the working side with the nonworking side. Make sure to move them as a pair.
    | NOTE: It is important to unplug the fixture to reset the end-of-life protection in the ballast.
    ---|---
  5. Plug in the fixture that was not working.
    It should now be working.

The ballasts used in the Hybrid fixture are a “Series” type, meaning that if one lamp is bad, both lamps will not work in the fixture.
You can now try different combinations of the numbered (1, 2, 3, 4) lamps to determine which lamp(s) is bad
All HEP ballasts are tested in every fixture prior to boxing and shipping.
