Filter first, and then boil
The BRITA On Tap water filter system is designed to be used only with
municipally treated tap water. If an instruction is received from the
authorities that mains water must be boiled, then BRITA filtered water must
also be boiled. When the instruction to boil water is no longer in force,

For certain groups of people (e.g. those with impaired immunity and babies),

to filtered water.

minutes to remove any residue. Please repeat this process with every new
filter cartridge. You may use this water for your plants or it can be
discarded. If the BRITA On Tap has not been used for more than 24 hours, allow
water to pass for 30 to 60 seconds before using the filtered water.

When
it has reached 0L it is time to change the cartridge.
Changing the filter cartridge:

The housing may still contain water, which will now lookout. The old filter cartridge can be discarded with normal domestic waste. -

cap, with the positive terminal of the battery facing downwards. Always use a
type CR 2032 battery. Close the cap by turning clockwise as the arrows for

Troubleshooting
If a fault occurs, please read the following potential causes and their remedies. If the problem persists, contact your local BRITA customer service team.
Problem: I cannot attach the system to my tap.
Remedy: Determine which adapter you need (see page 2). If the adapter does not
fit, please contact your local BRITA customer service team.
Problem: Filtered water drips out of the water outlet even when the tap is
turned off.
Remedy: There is still water under pressure in the On Tap housing when the tap
is turned off. It is normal for the filtered water flow to continue for a few
seconds.
Problem: Hot water was accidentally run through the filter for a short
time.
Remedy: A small amount of hot water running through the water filter will
not damage it. However, make sure you always use cold water for the filtering
process.
Problem: Water leaks from the connection between the system and the tap.
Remedy:
A) Make sure you have chosen the right adapter for your kind of tap.
B) Ensure that you have attached the system to the tap correctly (do not use
any tools!).
Problem: Water leaks from the side of the filter cartridge cap.
Remedy: Ensure that the filter cartridge cap has been tightened properly.
Problem: The display countdown does not show anything when the water
filter switch is in the filtering position. Remedy:
A) Ensure that the battery has been installed correctly.
B) The battery is exhausted. See section “Changing the CR 2032 battery”.
Maintenance
For maintenance, remove the whole system from the tap in the reverse order of installation. Cleaning is recommended when the cartridge is replaced.
- Rinse the system body with unfiltered tap water. Do not use detergent, thinner or alcohol to clean the surface of the system body.
- Use a clean toothbrush to clean the unfiltered water outlet, and rinse off any contamination under running tap water and wipe well with a clean cloth.
- Unscrew the filtered water spout and clean with a mild detergent.
Conditions for use
Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality
without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
When does the BRITA On Tap not work?
The BRITA On Tap filter system is not intended to be connected to a low-
pressure water heater; it is an external contact system and its internal
receptacle will not support the pressure of the supply pipe.
The following characteristics will help you determine whether your equipment
is a low-pressure water heater:
• A low-pressure water heater is usually installed immediately next to the
sink or underneath it.
• Low-pressure taps are fitted with 3 connections (open system).
• When the supply of hot water has been used (between 5 and 10 liters), only
cold water will come out of the tap.
When does the BRITA On Tap work?
The BRITA On Tap water filter system can be easily connected to the following
hot water supplies:
Please note that hot water may only be used with the BRITA On Tap’s unfiltered
water settings (shower and stream) and only cold water may be filtered.
-
Central hot water supply:
As a general rule, the central supply of hot water in a house is connected to the central heating system. This is usually located in the cellar, loft or in a cupboard. -
Instant water heaters:
Instant water heaters (pressurized systems) are installed in pressurized pipes and must be able to withstand the pressure applied. This type of water heater often supplies hot water to several parts of the house (e.g. the kitchen and bathroom). In contrast to the traditional system, the instant water heater supplies hot water within a few seconds and in an unlimited quantity. -
Large volume water heater ( > 50 liters):
Large volume water heaters (> 50 liters) operate under pressure. In most cases, these water heaters supply hot water to several parts of the house (e.g. the kitchen and bathroom).
