Getting Started
Treatment Intervals
Initial treatment
When performing the first 4-5 treatments, it is recommended to use it once every two weeks to ensure that all hair is treated
Trimming stage
After the initial treatment phase (4-5 treatments), if you notice hair regrowth, it is recommended to trim it every 4-8 weeks. This is to maintain the effect and keep the skin smooth for months. The interval between treatments can be adjusted according to individual hair growth rates and different body parts
Note:
The treatment cycle and frequency are determined by the user’s hair growth
cycle, and some may even require long-term care for up to 16 months.
The camera function of this device can effectively help you retain images of
the treatment process to analyze and compare, determining the treatment cycle
and frequency for each area that needs to be treated, thus helping you achieve
smooth and flawless skin as soon as possible
Skin tone sensor
To ensure safe use, Lumenessa is equipped with a skin tone sensor that measures your skin tone before each treatment. If the sensor detects that your skin color is too dark and unsuitable for use, the device’s red LED indicator will remain on, which means that even if you press the flash button, the device will not emit light
Treatment head
To achieve the best results and safety, it is essential to select the appropriate treatment head for each body part. To meet the needs of different areas of the body, Lumenessa provides an additional attachment (precision head)
To install the precision head, simply press it onto the standard head. To remove the precision head, simply pull it off from the standard head.
Standard head
The standard head is installed at the factory and should not be dismantled by users. The standard head has the largest irradiation window, which can effectively cover and treat body parts below the neck, especially large areas such as legs, arms, and abdomen
Precision head
The precision care head has a precise curved design for safe and accurate treatment of sensitive skin areas such as chin, underarms, and bikini line.
Warning:
- Do not use Lumenessa to treat your eyebrows.
- When treating the area above the upper lip, be careful not to flash onto your lips.
- When treating light-sensitive areas, use the low-energy mode.
- Using the standard care head in combination with the precision care head will make the treatment process easier and more convenient
Camera
The camera allows you to see the growth of hair on the skin surface before and
after treatment, making it easier for you to understand the growth cycle of
the treatment areas.
Note:
For operating instructions of the camera function, please visit the official
web www.Lumenessa.com or contact customer service.
Before you use your Lumenessa
Pretreating your skin
- Before using Lumenessa, you should remove any excess hair from the surface of the skin. Please choose a comfortable method to remove hair and ensure that the skin is clean without any oily substances.
Note : If shaving causes skin allergies, it is recommended to use this device only after the skin allergy has healed
To start the device
- Connect one end of the power cord (11) to the power base (12), and plug the other end into a power outlet. The fan will start and the first gear energy indicator light will stay on, indicating that the device has started.
This product will generate some heat while in operation Energy Level and
Indicator Light Definitions
Two Treatment Modes: Stamping & Gliding
Lumenessa has two treatment modes, which makes it more convenient for different body parts:
- The stamping mode is suitable for various parts, and is particularly convenient for smaller or curved areas such as knees and armpits. Simply press and release the treatment confirmation button to emit a flash.
- The sliding flash mode is convenient for larger areas such as legs. While sliding the device on the skin, hold down the flash button to emit consecutive flashes
Note : The minimum interval between two flashes emitted by the device is approximately 0.6 seconds (maximum 1.6 seconds), and mastering the flash time can ensure that each desired area is treated. Sliding too fast on the skin may cause some areas to be missed
Using your Lumenessa
For the first use of Lumenessa, a skin test should be performed on each area
to be treated. The purpose of the skin test is to check for any reactions to
the treatment and determine the correct light intensity setting for each body
part. Note: After the skin test, wait for 24 hours and confirm that there are
no adverse reactions before using this device
Choosing The appropriste Energy Level
Lumenessa provides you with 6 different light intensities, and you can choose
the appropriate one for your skin condition and comfort level during
treatment.
-
After the device is correctly connected, it will be in standby mode.
-
Place the device at a 90-degree angle on the skin to be treated, making sure it is in good contact with the skin.
-
Once the device makes reliable contact with the skin, it will perform a skin color analysis. When the “ready to flash” indicator light turns green, it indicates that treatment can begin.
Note : If the skin color is too dark, the “ready to flash” indicator light will turn red, and the device will not operate. You can try using it on other lighter areas. -
Use levels 1-6 to flash different parts of the skin in the same area, record the results after flashing, and observe the condition of the treated skin after 24 hours. Choose the most suitable intensity level for treatment.
Note : Different body parts such as thighs, armpits, face, and bikini have different hair states and require different light intensities.
Distinct areas with different skin colors should be tested separately for light intensity.
When conducting the test, start from low-level intensity and move up gradually. If there is significant pain or discomfort, stop testing higher levels immediately. -
If severe redness or burns appear on a tested area of the skin within 24 hours, use another appropriate intensity level for treatment
Using the device
-
Please install the appropriate treatment head for the area to be treated. Refer to chapter 2 “Treatment Head” for instructions on how to start the device and choose the appropriate intensity level.
Reference: “To start the Device” section. -
Place the device at a 90-degree angle on the skin, making contact with the treatment head and the skin. The treatment head can prevent accidental flashing when it is not in contact with the skin
-
Place the device tightly against the skin to ensure proper contact. When the “ready to flash” indicator light on the side of the device turns green, it indicates that you can begin treatment
-
Press the flash button to emit a flash. The device will make a slight popping sound, and you may feel a slight warmth due to the flashing.
Note : The scattered light emitted by this device is harmless to the eyes. Do not look directly at the flash while using it. No need to wear it during use -
Place the device on the next area to be treated. After each flash, the device needs 0.6-1.6 seconds to emit another flash. When the “ready to flash” green light turns on, the product can emit light.
Note : In slide flash mode, the time interval between flashes may suddenly slow down. This is due to the continuous rapid flashing causing the temperature of the device to rise faster. When it exceeds our preset safe temperature value, the device will automatically increase the time interval between flashes to lower its temperature. This is a normal phenomenon -
To ensure that all areas are treated, flash on adjacent areas. The effective light can only be emitted through the emission window. Because the device component in contact with your skin is relatively large, there will be some overlapping radiation. However, please make sure to flash only once for the same area
-
After completing the treatment, please disconnect the device from the power outlet
After treatment
Common skin reactions
Your skin may experience slight redness and/or feel itchy, tingly, or warm.
This reaction is completely harmless to the body and will quickly disappear.
Dryness and itching of the skin may occur when shaving or combining IPL hair
removal with shaving. You can use ice packs or damp towels to cool the
affected area. If dryness persists, you can apply an unscented moisturizer to
the treated area
Rare side effects
- Burns, severe redness (e.g. near hair follicles) and swelling: These reactions are extremely rare and are caused by using light intensity that is too high for the skin color. If these reactions do not disappear within three days, it is recommended that you consult a doctor. Please wait until the skin has healed before undergoing a second treatment, and ensure that a lower light intensity is used.
- Skin discoloration: This phenomenon is very rare. Skin discoloration usually appears darker (hyperpigmentation) or lighter (hypopigmentation) than the surrounding area. This is caused by using a light intensity that is too high for the skin color. If skin discoloration persists for more than two weeks, it is recommended that you consult a doctor. Please wait until the skin returns to its normal color before treating the discolored area again.
- Skin infection is extremely rare, but may occur after (minor) injuries, burns, or allergic reactions.
- Epidermal heat (clear-edged brown area, usually darker and without skin dryness): This phenomenon is very rare. If epidermal heat persists for more than a week, it is recommended that you consult a doctor. Please wait until the skin has healed before undergoing a second treatment, and ensure that a lower light intensity is used.
- Blistering (appearing as small bubbles on the surface of the skin): This phenomenon is very rare. If blistering does not disappear within one month, or if further skin infection occurs, it is recommended that you consult a doctor. Please wait until the skin has healed before undergoing a second treatment, and ensure that a lower light intensity is used.
- Scarring: Usually an adverse effect from skin burns, it may take at least a month to heal.
- Folliculitis (swelling around the hair follicles with pus): This phenomenon is very rare and is usually caused by bacteria entering damaged skin. If this happens, it is recommended that you consult a doctor, as treatment of folliculitis may require antibiotic cream.
- Extreme pain: If you use this device on unshaved skin, or use light intensity that is too high for your skin color, or flash multiple times in the same skin area, or use the device on open wounds, inflammation, infection, tattoos, or burns, there may be extreme pain during or after irradiation.
Post-Treatment Care
After treatment, you can safely apply lotion, cream, perfume, moisturizer, or
makeup to the treated area. If you experience skin allergies or redness after
treatment, wait until the symptoms disappear before applying beauty products
to your skin. If you experience skin allergies after applying beauty products,
rinse with water.
Note : Even if you follow all instructions, you may still experience skin
reactions. In this case, please stop using the device and contact your
country/region’s customer service center
