Denco Door Stuff LIINC Garage Door Lighting System Installation Guide

First and foremost, welcome to the LIINC™ family. We are excited to have you on the team and cannot wait to see what you create and how you use your new Garage Door Lighting System. Please read instructions in its entirety to fully understand the process and avoid installation missteps. Listed below are the parts and tools needed to efficiently install the 14,400 lumens of your dreams.

GDLS INSTALLATION GUIDE

1. Mount Door Harness Mounting Brackets and Active Harness” to door
Loosen the top and bottom screw on each door panel hinge and slide the tab under the bolt head and re-tighten. Use black zip ties to secure the LINC Harness™ to the mounting brackets (#1)

Keep first, low-voltage plug above the top bracket (#2). The rest will be properly spaced now.

(Note zip tie mounts hold excess harness at top of door panel (#3)-addressed in Step 10.)

2. Locate and CLEAN the light mounting path on all 4 door panels
CLEAN very well. It’s critical to clean extremely well at this step for your lights to stick and work as designed. Typically, you will run the lights just above the natural break on each door. We recommend Acetone and rags or Rubbing Alcohol and rags. For wood doors, rubbing alcohol is better so as not to ruin the wood finish or paint.

3. Mount double-sided tape along cleaned light paths. Leave paper on the tape for now (#1). (Non Insulated doors require cutting the tape at each side of the vertical door ribs on the panels (#2).)

For non-insulated doors, you will need to start at the opposite end of the door from the harness and pull lights under the door ribs until you can reach the harness plug on each panel (#2).

Remove the paper on the double-sided tape and the back of the lights and install sticky to sticky. Cut the excess lights off at the closest scissor mark on the light strips. Stick White Zip Tie Mounting places at the end of LED strip and zip tie LED wire in place (#3).

4. Open door fully. Slide track bracket until it’s close enough to hold the door bracket to the top of the door or metal bar just under top of door with pressure from the contacts. It’s crucial that you align the contacts correctly from side to side. Up and down is adjustable on the track bracket later-side to side is not.

5. Mark holes in door bracket feet (we like to use a sharpie) and remove bracket and then drill marks with 1/8″ drill bit.

6. Remount door bracket to holes using 2 screws. Use screwdriver to tighten screws using 1/8″ holes as guides. Do not connect wires yet.

7. Install track bracket and set with jam bolt so that the contacts are touching the door contacts and are compressed slightly. If installing on a single-track, low-clearance application, reverse the direction of the large “L” shaped piece so the “J” shaped portion can be mounted to the outside of the track and the “L” reaches back over the top. (See bottom photo for reference.)

8. Cycle door open and closed a few times to make sure the brackets are positioned correctly and touch and slightly compress contacts every time. Once your positioning is good, drill with ¼” drill bit and secure track bracket using the long bolt and wing nut.

9. Mount power supply on side of garage or directly to the opener housing using screws.
Mark mounting holes using the Power Supply as a guide (we like to use a sharpie). Drill marks with 1/8″ drill bit. Use screwdriver to install screws.

DO NOT plug into outlet yet!!

10. Finish securing harness on door and connect to lights and door bracket with contact switch. Either by drilling directly though underneath it or bending the connectors around the surface to fit onto the threaded studs on the contact switch (#1).

11. Note in photos that the harness is not slack at the hinge points. It will flex inward when the door moves just fine. No need to leave a sloppy, saggy harness between the hinge brackets at the flex points.

12. Close garage door and connect power supply to the track contact switch threaded studs. They need to match the door bracket contacts Red to Red and Black to Black. Then plug power supply into outlet to energize.

Open your garage door and your lights will turn on automatically when it’s fully open.

Troubleshooting

If there is flickering or they don’t illuminate, (with the power off!) check that the contacts are touching. The contacts are adjustable in and out by spinning the little nuts on them. You want them to touch and compress the springs a bit to keep tension with the contacts touching.
