ENCOUNTER
CELLULAR TRAIL CAMERA
Welcome to Encounter
Package Includes:
- 1 adjustable strap
- 1 high power antenna
Step 1: Download the HuntSmart App
Step 2: Starting the On-Boarding Process
Make sure the device is powered off when you start the process. From the “Cameras” tab in the footer navigation, locate the “Add Camero” icon (looks like a mini QR code). This will open the QR code scanner.
Step 3: Scanning the QR Code
You must give HuntSmort™ pem1ission to use your comera for the QR sconner to operate properly. Unlock and open the door of the comera to scon the QR code and begin the on-boarding.
If you’re having trouble using the QR code, tap the CANNOT FIND QR CODE text at the bottom of the screen. From here, select your comera model from the device list. and enter the IMEI number found on the label inside the door.
Step 4: Choose Your Settings
First give the device a name. then continue onto the next screen to choose Our settings. Your camera hos 3 primon; image transmission modes:
- Scheduled time slots: choose between 1-5 times a day where pictures win be transmitted to the HuntSmart ™ opp.
- Each detection: the camera will transmit immediately ofter taking a photo (WARNING: this mode consumes a lot of power. AA batteries not recommended for this mode).
- No transmission: the camera wm never send its photos. In this mode, the camera wm check in with HuntSmart™ even; 24 hours to report its status.
In addition. there ore several other settings to choose from:
- Capture Delay: The pause before the next picture is taken Choose 2, 5.15, 30 seconds, or 1 minute, S minutes.
- Manage Storage: Choose what happens to your image files after they ore transmitted. “‘Save to Card” mode keeps the files on your SD cord until \JOU manually delete them and IJOUr camera wm stop capturing new images once your cord is fun .. DVR mode” wm retain the original files until the cord is fuTI. it will then replace the oldest files as the camera continues to capture. “‘Delete after upload” will immediately remoue the photos from the SD cord.
- Information bar: uncheck this box to remoue the date and time information ouerloy from the bottom of each image.
- Photo Burst: Number of images captured per motion detection. Each photo will be taken 1 second apart
- Reduce Blur: This affects nights photo exposure. Advanced mode reduces the blur of animals in motion, but also reduces the oueroll image brightness.
- Operating hours: “Ooy Only” mode wrn only capture full-color day images “Night Onlf wm only capture block-ond-white night images illuminated by infrared LEDs.
Press the “Continue” button to confirm your settings. After that use the mop on the next screen to select the intended location of your camera This will be used to calculate the moon phase dote.
Step 5: Powering the Camera
After thot. the comero will be reody to be on-boarded. Unlatch the door and insert a brand new or freshly reformatted SD cord into the slot on the side of the camera. FoTiow the SD card direction indicated on the camera. To power the device, insert 8 new M batteries or connect a 12V external battery using the DC jack on the bottom of the device. If you’re using M batteries, make sure that they are inserted facing the proper direction according to the markings on the camera.
Slide the On-Off switch to On . The power LED should begin flashing green immediately and begin its check-in sequence.
Each indicotor LED will blink in sequence untn all 3 are steadny lit green. This indicotes a successful connection. If one of the lights turns red, use this guide to help diagnose the issue:
Red Power LED: indicotes low battery or no SD cord.
- Turn the device off and ensure that the SD card is fully inserted in the right direction. Then turn it back on.
- Format the SD cord or try a different one.
Green Power LED, and Red Signal LED: indicotes no SIM cord, weak ceTI signal, or no data plan.
- The comera may have difficulties on-boarding and transmitting photos in this location. Consider relocating for better performance.
- Turn the device off and ensure that the SIM card is fully inserted in the right direction. Then turn it back on.
Green Power LED, Green Signal LED, and Red Profile LED: indicates that no account was found.

Pressing the PAIR button will force the comer a to take an image and immediately upload it regardless of the transmission settings you’ve chosen. This function con help verify that your camera will function properly at its current locotion and ensure that ifs mounted properly.
Recommended SD Cards : For best results, use a Wildgame Innovations SD card or class 4 or higher SDHC card up to 32 GB. Do not use SDXC. Using a card with larger than 32GB capacity will result in an error message on the camera screen which states ERR SO. This will lock the camera until you use a 32GB or smaller card. A micro-SD card will lock the camera and not allow you to take photos.
Formatting an SD Card: To format the SD card button using your device, hold the PAIR button while turning the camera on.
The indicator LEDs will briefly flash red while the card is being formatted. Please be aware that this action will remove all files stored on the SO card. After the format is complete, the camera will begin a check-in.
Please make sure that the lock switch on the left side of your SO card is in the unlock position before Inserting into the camera. Not doing so wlll result In not getting any pictures.
Step 6: On-Boarding the Camera
If the comera is successfully onboorded, you wiTI see the foTiowing screen in the opplicotion. Once the process is complete, the signal LEDs wnl turn off and the camera wnl be ready to take pictures. For the first 3 minutes after on-boording, the status LED wiTI flash for every picture token. After that time, the camera LEDs will stop firing so it con stealthily toke pictures without alerting game.
If the on-boarding foils, the signal and status LEDs wiTI turn off. but you will not see the above message in HuntSmort™. The comera will take pictures in this state, but it will not broadcast them to HuntSrnart™. Turn the device off and turn it back on to re-attempt on-boarding.
Step 7: Select an App & Transmission Plan
Now that you’re paired to the device you con select the HuntSrnort™ opp
subscription plan you prefer. This is your cloud data storage where cell
images wiTI transfer through to your mobile device. This extra storage con
also house images from any SD card and use advanced artificial inteTiigence
technology to analyze your images_
Upgrade your pion to unlock features such os Species Recognition, Buck
Scoring, additional cloud storage and more!.
Next, select the cellular data transmission plan you’d like for this specific comero. Cell plans are specific to each camera and regulate the amount of images you’TI receive from it Each ceTI camera requires its own individual cell plan. You con upgrade, change or discontinue each plan monthly with no contract or commitments.
Cellular Data Image Transmission Plans con be biTied monthly or annually. There is a price break for each plan when paying annually.
Step 8: Changing the Settings
If you wont to change the settings of the your comera, the quickest way is to power off the device, make your desired changes in HuntSmart™, and then power the device on again. The cornero will retrieve the updated settings from the server during startup and apply them to the device. If you wish to change your settings remotely, the comera won’t apply the changes untn the next transmission time (if the device is in Scheduled Time Slots or Each Transmission mode) or during its dany status check-in (if the device is in No Transmission mode).
Step 9: Mounting the Camera
When mounting to a tree, first remove the clip from one end of the strap so you can slide the strap through the slots locoted on the bock of the com era. Once the camera is attached place the clip bock on to the strap. Then, wrap the strap around the tree ond clip the two ends together. Pull the excess material so that the camera is stroped tightly to the tree.
Important tips:
- Recommended distance from target area is 25-30 feet for optimal imaging quality.
- To improve the quality of your images, try not to mount the unit facing the rising or the setting sun in order to ovoid direct sunlight into the camera lens.
- If mounting to a feeder unit or dusty environment be sure to clean the camera lens cover, incandescent flash cover, and the PIR sensor cover on a regular basis.
- Periodically check the mounting of the camera to insure it is not loose.
- Make sure that you securely latch the door closed each and every time you use the unit. as the moisture seal will not be activated unless closed properly.
- Check batteries frequently to ensure no corrosive build-up, as this may couse harm to the camera.
