The product comes with safety points that the user should follow, and periodic inspections are required.
Safety Points
- The product should not be used for any purpose other than lifting or lowering loads, specifically pulling fence post footings from the ground.
- The product should be handled in accordance with safe manual handling procedures.
- The product should be used on a level surface and should rest in its fully down position.
- The product should not be used beyond its maximum height.
- The user should follow the instructions provided in the user manual.
Product Usage Instructions
Before each use
The user should inspect the product and ensure that it is in good working
condition. The user should also inspect the chains and ensure that they are
not damaged.
Weekly
The user should inspect the product and ensure that it is in good working condition. The user should also inspect the chains and ensure that they are not damaged. The user should also check the hydraulic oil level and top up if necessary.
Using Fence Master
- Place the Fence Master on a level surface and ensure that it is in its fully down position.
- Wrap the bottom chain anti-clockwise around the post twice in the shape of a cross at the front. Make sure the chain is as tight as possible. Secure the chain through the slot in the post-rest. Pull the top chain tightly around the post and secure it through the top slot in the post-rest.
- Turn the pressure release knob clockwise on the pump until tight.
- Begin to operate the hand pump. Check that the post begins to move when pressure is applied.
- Continue pumping until the post is removed. For lighter footings, it is not always necessary to pump the ram all the way to the top. Once the ‘ground seal’ is broken, the post and footing can be removed easily.
- Gently lower the machine to rest on the ground.
- Once hydraulic pressure has been released and the chain is slack, remove chains from the slots and unwrap from post. Support the post whilst chains are released. For larger posts, a second person may be required to hold the post.
- The post can now be safely removed.
- Push down on hood to lower arms to the fully down position.
Using Claw Attachment
- Expose the top of the concrete footing on opposite sides to a depth of around 75mm.
- Attach the claw attachment to the Fence Master by slotting the double arms of the claw over the bracket on the Fence Master and fit retaining pin.
- To open claw, place vertically on the ground whilst holding shackle. Then press locking lever and gently lower claw until it opens.
- Open claw and place over footing.
- Whilst closing jaws around footing, tap each side of the claw into concrete to secure.
- Turn pressure release knob slowly anti-clockwise to release pressure. Relieve it enough for the chain to be slack.
- Once the hydraulic pressure has been released and chain is slack, remove chain from the slot. Support the post or footing whilst doing this.
- Carefully remove claw from footing. Take care to keep fingers etc. clear of claw and footing.
- Lower the pulling arm fully.
- After use, pick up the claw by the shackle with the locking lever towards you. Re-attach to the Fence Master by slotting the double arms of the claw over the bracket on the Fence Master and fit retaining pin.
