CRXS Firmware Upgrade Instructions

The CRXS Firmware Upgrade Instructions provide step-by-step guidance on how to update the firmware of the CRX3108 model. Firmware updates are important as they bring new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes to the device.
Note that if the CRXS is being used with a SIM and connected service, it is recommended to consult your telematics provider or Sensata INSIGHTS before attempting to update the device firmware. In such cases, firmware updates can be more easily applied using SmartAPI over-the-air update service.

SD Card Preparation

Before updating the firmware, you need to prepare an SD card with the latest firmware file. Follow these steps:

1. Insert the SD card into a PC.
2. Open the SD card root folder.
3. Copy the firmware file into the SD card root folder.
4. Safely eject the SD card from your PC.

CRXS Firmware Update

To update the firmware of your CRXS device:

1. Insert the SD card with the firmware file into the CRXS SD card slot.
2. Press the Menu button on the front panel of the CRXS device. If the device has a password, enter it when prompted.
3. Select Device from the OSD menu.
4. Select System from the OSD menu.
5. Choose Upgrade Firmware from the System menu.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the firmware upgrade process.
7. Wait for the firmware upgrade process to complete. The CRXS device will reboot automatically.
8. Do not disconnect the power during the firmware upgrade process.

• b. Open the SD card root folder.
• c. Copy firmware file into SD card root folder.
• d. Safely eject the SD card from your PC.

CRXS Firmware Update

• CRXS firmware upgrade requires an LCD screen in order to access the OSD menu and monitor the firmware update progress.
• SD card must be inserted into the SD slot and the latch should be closed.
•  Power on the CRXS. Navigate through the OSD menu via the front panel buttons.

• Click on Menu button.
  Note: By pressing the Menu button a new window will open up indicating that a password needs to be inserted. If the CRXS doesn’t have a password, you may click on Menu button again in order to access the main options provided.

• Navigate through the OSD Menu via the arrow buttons [<], [>], [∧], [v].

• In order to apply the new firmware, navigate to System tab.

• Select Service Menu option.

• Select Run for Maintenance field.

• Select Upgrade and choose the firmware source.

• Confirm Firmware version.

Note: CRXS will reboot once the firmware update is completed. Power should not be disconnected in order to have a healthy system update. If this happens, please contact your supplier.
