PLEASE READ: This guide is intended to aid in the installation of our products. It is recommended that factory manuals or instructions are followed to remove the fuel pump assembly from the vehicle. Instructions in this guide are generic and are intended to aid in the installation of our Universal Fuel Pump Mount. Please note do not use anything that generates sparks around any fuel!
Be sure any fuel tank being modified is brand new or has been thoroughly cleaned of fuel and fuel vapor. If modifying a used fuel tank, wash tank thoroughly and fill with water during drilling and any other steps that could cause sparks, alternately you can flush and fill the tank with a inert non- flammable gas such as carbon dioxide, or argon to displace any remaining fuel fumes.

Prepping the Fuel Tank

Find a relatively flat space that the Universal Mount can sit mostly flush. You’ll notice below it is not perfectly flat. That is fine as the supplied gasket will take up most of the corrugation in the tank or most imperfections.
Here I have marked the center of the adapter to drill my hole. We recommend using a 3-inch hole saw to make the hole for installation. Any larger and you run the risk of the bolt holes tearing and smaller makes the installation slightly more difficult. The smallest hole saw you should use is 2.5-inch.
Take your 3-inch hole saw and drill your marked hole from step 2. Clean your surface to easily see where you have marked for each hole. This will help later on.
NOTE: Make sure tank is empty of all fuel and vapor, fill tank with water, or other inert gas before install.
Mark the bolt holes with a marker or paint pen. Then use a center punch so that even if the mark gets wiped away you still have it marked and easier to start.
Note: Use a vacuum to clean up any debris made from the drilling process. You can also use a gallon of wd40 and a magnet to gather any leftover debris by putting both in the tank and sloshing around.

Installing the Bolt Ring

Drill each bolt hole with a ¼-inch drill bit. This will allow for some error in the pattern with no affect in the mounting of the adapter. As you can see in the 2nd picture below my drill marks were not perfect, but this will work none the less.
There are multiple ways to do this step. As you can see below, I used double sided tape. Another method would be using a super glue or adhesive that is fuel safe. You can also use a no additional adhesion method as well. Refer to step 6b. Use the open end of the ring and rotate it into the tank. Be sure to keep your hands on it or it will drop. Keep a magnet handy for this reason.
Note: Only use this method when installing the ring with an adhesive.
To Install with no adhesive, take one hand and put a couple fingers through the top black ring of the mount with gasket under it. Use your other hand to rotate the bolt ring around into the tank keeping tension on it from the hand in the mount. Gently rotate the mount until the mount is flush against the inside of the tank. Once the ring is in you can hold it like the 2nd pic. Be sure you have the bolts near by to thread a couple into the mount and bolt ring. Once you have threaded a couple bolts you can let go.
If you used adhesive and skipped step 6b now install the top 12 bolt ring with the fuel safe foam gasket. Make sure to use the PTFE washers on all 12 bolts. Tighten each bolt in a star pattern until the each one is tight. After the gasket is completely crushed make sure each bolt is tightened to 50 in/lb.

Installing the 3.5 or 3.5Brushless Adapter

This mount is made for our 3.5 surge tank adapters. Swap out the rod that comes with the adapter for the longer one that comes with the mount. Measure the depth of your tank and subtract 2 inches (50mm). Cut the rod at that length. If the rod is hitting the bottom of the tank, you can always remove more. The pump can take up any slack that is left.

Most aftermarket fuel systems require a return fuel line to the tank. There is no return port on the Universal Fuel Tank Pump Mount. You can repurpose the OEM fuel feed sending unit as your new return, be sure to remove the filter sock as it could get clogged and create high fuel system pressure. If you do not have a return option or do not wish to use the OE feed, we have a specialized AN bulkhead fitting for this purpose, it comes in 6AN and 8AN and both have a 5/16” hose barb to direct return fuel if necessary. See DW part numbers 6-02-0712, 6-02-0713 and sealing washers 6-02-0333 and 6-02-0334. These part numbers are not supplied with this kit and are optional accessories. (6AN version pictured below)
