Read operating instructions before use!

Packaging
This machine is packaged to prevent damage during transportation. The packaging is raw material and can thus be reused or fed back into the raw materials cycle.

When using the machine certain safety precautions must be taken in order to prevent injuries and damage:

• Read through the operating instructions carefully and observe the instructions contained therein. Familiarise yourself with the machine, its correct use and the safety devices by means of these operating instructions.
• Store these carefully so that the information is always available to you.
• In the event of the machine being handed over to another party, please include these operating instructions with it.

We accept no liability for accidents and damage caused as a result of disregarding these instructions.

1. Intended use

The high pruner is intended exclusively for pruning trees and / or other woody plants from the ground. The diameter of the branch to be cut must not exceed the cutting length of the chain-sword. Intended use also includes reading and observing the operating instructions before and during each use, as well as observing the warnings on the machine. Before and during use, check the pole pruner for mechanical damage. If repairs are necessary, contact your dealer. Only original spare parts approved by the manufacturer may be used. If non- approved or non-original spare parts are used and this results in personal injury or damage to property, the operator and not the manufacturer is liable. The pole pruner may only be operated in the open garden area at an ambient temperature of not less than 10°C.

  Any other use, such as sawing plastic, masonry or building materials that are not made of wood, is improper use. Working contrary to the intended use can lead to dangerous situations.

Residual risks
Note that national regulations like occupational protection, environmental protection may limit the use of high pruner.
Residual risks remain even if you use this tool as intended. The following hazards can occur due to this tool’s construction and design:

1. Lung damage if a suitable dust mask is not worn.
2. Hearing damage if suitable hearing protection is not worn.
3. Cuts if suitable protective clothing is not worn.
4. Damage to health, which results from hand and arm vibrations if the device is used for an extended period or not operated or maintained properly.

Warning! This machine generates an electromagnetic field when operated. This field can affect active or passive medical implants in certain circumstances. In order to reduce the risk of severe injury or death, we recommend that people with medical implants consult their doctor or the manufacturer of the medical implant before operating the machine.

Warning!
The prolonged utilisation of a tool will subject the user to vibration and shocks that could lead to Raynaud‘s syndrome or Carpal tunnel syndrome.
This condition reduces the ability of the hand to sense and regulate temperature, causes numbness and a sensation of heat and can lead to damage to the nervous system and the circulatory system and to necrosis.

Not all factors that lead to Raynaud‘s syndrome are known but cold water, smoking and illnesses that impact the blood vessels and the circulatory system as well as severe or long-lasting exposure to vibrations are known to be factors in the development of Raynaud‘s syndrome.

Observe the following in order to reduce the risk of Raynaud‘s syndrome and Carpal tunnel syndrome:

• Wear gloves and keep your hands warm.
• Make sure the device is well maintained. A tool with loose components or with damaged or worn-out dampers will have a disposition towards increased vibrations.
• Always hold the handle firmly but do not clutch it constantly with excessive force. Take breaks often.

All of the above precautions cannot exclude the risk of Raynaud‘s syndrome or Carpal tunnel syndrome. Therefore, with long-term or regular use it is advisable to keep a close watch on the condition of your hands and fingers. Seek medical attention immediately in the event of any of the above symptoms appearing.

2. General safety information for power tools

Warning! Read all safety-related information and safety instructions! Failure to observe the safety information and instructions may result in electric shock, burns and/ or severe injury.

Keep the safety information and instructions for future reference.
The term ‘power tool’ as used in the safety information and instructions includes both mains-operated tools (with power cord) and battery-operated tools (without power cord).

1) Safety at the workplace
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2) Electrical safety
a) a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
h) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

4) Use and handling of the power tool
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. Device-specific safety instructions

• Keep the cable away from the cutting area. When working with the tool the cable might be hidden in bushes and accidentally cut through.
• Keep all parts of your body clear of the chain while the saw is running. Before starting the saw, make sure that the chain does not touch any objects. When working with a high pruner, even a short moment of inattentiveness may result in clothes or parts of the body being caught by the chain.
• Always hold the high pruner with your right hand at the rear handle and your left hand at the front handle. Holding the high pruner differently (left hand – rear handle / right hand – front handle) during operation will increase the risk of injury and is not permitted.
• Hold the electric equipment by its insulated handle surfaces, as the high pruner can come into contact with its own mains power cable. If the high pruner comes into contact with a live cable, it can energise metal parts of the equipment and cause an electric shock.
• Wear eye and hearing protection. Other personal protection equipment for the head, hands, legs and feet is recommended. Proper protective clothing and protection equipment reduce the risk of injury caused by thrown-about wood chips and accidental contact with the chain.
• Do not operate the high pruner on trees. Operating a high pruner while situated on a tree involves a high risk of injury.
• Make sure to have a safe stand at any time, and only use the high pruner when standing on solid, safe and level ground. A slippery ground or instable surfaces as the steps of a ladder may lead to loosing balance or the control over the high pruner.
• When cutting a branch that is under tension take into account that it will spring back. When the tension of the wood fibres is released the tensioned branch may hit the operator and/or the high pruner resulting in a loss of control.
• Apply particular caution when cutting brush and young trees. The thin material may get caught in the chain and hit you or throw you off balance.
• Carry the switched-off high pruner using the front handle with the chain pointing away from your body. Always put on the protection cover when transporting or storing the high pruner. The careful handling of the high pruner reduces the risk of accidentally touching the sharp cutting chain.
• Follow the instructions for lubrication, chain tension and changing accessories. An improperly tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or considerably increase the risk of a kickback.
• Keep the handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Fatty, oily handles are slippery and may lead to a loss of control.
• Use the high pruner for cutting wood only! Do not use the high pruner for works it is not designed for. – Example: Do not use the high pruner for cutting plastics, brickwork or other construction materials that are not made of wood. The use of the high pruner for applications, for which it is not designed, may result in dangerous situations.
• Never attempt to use an incomplete machine or one which an unauthorised alteration has been implemented.
• Always use a saw chain and guide bar specified by the chain and guide bar as specified by the manufacturer. Incorrect combinations such as replacement bar and saw chains can cause the chain to break and/or kick back. Serious injuries cannot be ruled out in this case.
• Young persons under the age of 16 are not permitted to operate these devices.
• Attention! Read the Operating Instructions carefully and have yourself instructed in the use of a high pruner before you use it for the first time. Only lend or give this high pruner to persons who are familiar with its use. Also give them these Operating Instructions.
• The high pruner may only be used by persons who have sufficient experience.
• If the connection line must be replaced, then this must be completed by the manufacturer or his representative to prevent safety risks.
• Allow the motor to cool down for transport, and secure the machine against slipping before you transport it with a vehicle. This ensures that damage and injuries are prevented. A pole-mounted pruner is always transported with the transport guard attached.
•  Always keep these Operating Instructions together with the high pruner.
• Never operate the tool when you are tired, sick or under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
• When the tool is not in use, store it in a dry place and out of reach of children.
• The power supply cable should be checked regularly and before each time it is used; make sure that the cable is not damaged or worn out. If the cable is not in good condition, do not use the tool; take it to an authorized service centre instead.
• Never tug the extension cord to disconnect the plug. Always grip the plug. Be careful not to chafe the extension cord on corners, pointed or sharp objects. Do not squeeze extension cord, e.g. through narrow gaps in doors or windows.
• Applicable accident prevention regulations, generally recognised safety-technical rules must be followed.
• Always withdraw the plug when carrying out maintenance and servicing.
• Warning! Never operate the machine with defective safety equipment or covers or without safety equipment.
• Do not start the tool when it is not in the operating position.
• Be careful and keep other people and animals out of the work area and at least 2.5 metres away from the work object.
• During work breaks put the machine down in such a manner that nobody is at risk. Withdraw the plug.
• Only operate the tool during broad daylight or with adequate artificial light
• Try to prevent it from getting wet or being exposed to humidity. Do not leave it outside overnight.
• For safety reasons, replace parts that are worn out or damaged. Only use original spare parts and accessories.
• Make sure that other items do not cause short circuit on the appliance contacts.
• A tingling feeling or numbness in the hands is sign of excessive vibration. Limit the operating time, take sufficiently long work breaks, distribute the work between several people or wear anti-vibration gloves when using the tool for extended periods.
•  A certain degree of noise from this device is unavoidable. Perform noise-intensive work at times when this is permitted and at times intended for this type of work. Where applicable, observe quiet times and limit working time to the absolute minimum. You and other persons in the area where the trimmer is being used should wear suitable hearing protection.
• This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge.
• A circuit breaker with a fault current of 30 mA or less is necessary when working outdoors.
• Before using the equipment clear the working area of any foreign objects and be aware of foreign objects during operation of the machine!
• Do not cut near flammable liquids or gases.
• Only use extension cables that are suitable for outdoor use.
• Do not use the pole saw if the pole or saw is damaged, wrongly calibrated or assembled incompletely or not safely or if the starter does not switch the saw on and off. The chain must stop after pressing the starter.
• We recommend that first-time users are instructed practically as to the correct use of the high pruner and the required personal safety equipment by an experienced operator; the cutting of round wood or logs should be trained on a log stand or similar rack-type device first.
• Warning! Never use the machine in bad weather, particularly, if there is a risk of lightning!
• Watch out for falling branches. Check the tree to be saw out. Make a room for falling branches.
• Do not use the pole saw for cutting annual shoots or bushes.
• Working on ladders, scaffoldings or trees is forbidden. Always hold the high pruner with both hands while working with it. Apply firm, constant pressure on the high pruner when cutting. Do not use the pole saw for sawing out branches with a diameter exceeding the chain bar.
• To reduce the risk of electrocution, never operate this power tool in the vicinity of any wires or cables (power, etc.) which may be carrying electric current. Electricity can jump from one point to another by means of arcing. Higher voltage increases the distance electricity can arc. Electricity can also move through branches, especially if they are wet. Maintain a clearance of at least 30 feet (10 m) between the pole trimmer (including any branches it is contacting) and any electrical line carrying live current.
• Do not stand directly under the branch to be cut off. Stand always outside the falling branches.

5. Assembly

Attention! Only connect the high pruner to the power supply when it is fully assembled and the chain tension has been adjusted. Always wear work gloves when you are working on the high pruner, to avoid injuries.

5.1 Installing the bar and saw chain (fig. 2 – 5)
Carefully unpack all parts and check these for completeness. (fig.1)

Attention! Danger of injury. Wear safety gloves when fitting the chain.

• Place the high pruner on a stable surface.
• Turn the thumb screw (18) anticlockwise to open the chain wheel cover (9) (see fig. 2).
• Lay the saw chain (12) on the bar (13) and note the running direction of the chain. The cutting teeth must be on the top of the bar and facing forwards (see fig. 3).
• Lay the free end of the saw chain over the chain drive wheel (see fig. 4 B) and the bar (13) with the elongated hole over the bar guide (C).
• Install the chain wheel cover (9) and turn the thumb screw (18) a little in a clockwise direction to fix the cover hand-tight (fig. 2).
• Make sure that the chain tensioning bolt (E) (fig. 5) sits precisely in the small opening in the bar (see fig. 4, D).
• Then use the SDS chain tension ring (19) to set the correct chain tension (see following section).

5.2 Tensioning the saw chain (fig. 6 and 7)
Attention! Always unplug the mains plug before inspection and adjustment work. Always wear work gloves when you are working on the high pruner, to avoid injuries.
a) Direction + : Tighten chain
b) Direction – : Loosen chain

If the device is equipped with SDS, this means that you can loosen or tighten the chain and the bar (guide plate) without having to use a tool. You can adjust the chain tension using the chain tension ring (19) on the SDS. You can use the thumb screw (18) on the SDS to loosen or tighten the bar.

Unscrew the thumb screw (18) a little in an anticlockwise direction. Then use the SDS outer ring (19) to set the correct chain tension (loosen- / tighten +) (fig. 6). Continue to tension the chain until it can be lifted by around 2 mm in the middle of the bar as shown in fig. 7. Now tighten the thumb screw (18) completely.

Attention: During the run-in time, the chain must be re-tightened frequently. Immediately re-tighten the chain if it flutters or hangs out of the groove!

Information regarding the tensioning of the chain
The saw chain must be tensioned properly in order to ensure safe operation. The chain tension is optimal if the saw chain can be lifted 2 mm in the centre of the guide bar. Since the saw chain heats up during the sawing process, whereby its length changes, you must check the chain tension at least once every 10 min. and adjust it as necessary. This applies in particular for new saw chains. Slacken the saw chain after work is completed, because it shortens when cooling down. In doing so, you can prevent damage to the chain.

5.3 Saw chain lubrication

Attention! Always pull out the mains plug before inspection and adjustment work. Always wear protective gloves when carrying out work on the high pruner in order to prevent injury.
Attention! Never operate the chain without saw chain oil! The use of the high pruner without saw chain oil or with an oil level below the minimum oil level mark results in damage to the high pruner!
Attention! Only use special high pruner oil. The warranty is voided with the use of used oil.

Filling the oil tank (Fig. 8 and 9)

• Place the high pruner on a level surface.
• Clean the area around the oil tank cap (Pos.10) and then open it.
• Fill the oil tank with saw chain oil. In doing so, make sure that no dirt gets into the oil tank so that the oil nozzle does not clog.
• Close the oil tank cap (Pos.10).
• Before starting work, check the chain lubrication function. Switch on the saw with cutting attachment fitted, and maintain sufficient distance above a light background (caution, no contact with the floor!). If traces of oil appear, chain lubrication is working properly (fig. 9).

6. Operation

6.1 Adjusting the telescopic length
1. Loosen the telescopic locking mechanism (7), as shown in fig. 10.
2. Draw the shaft (5) to the desired length (fig. 10).
3. Secure the telescopic locking mechanism again – the shaft is now locked at the desired length.

6.2 Connection to the mains supply

• Connect the mains cable to a suitable extension cable. Make sure that the extension cable is designed to accommodate the power of the high pruner.
• Secure the extension cable against tractive forces and accidental unplugging as shown in (Fig.11).
• Connect the extension cable to an earthed safety socket installed in accordance with regulations. We recommend the use of a cable in a signal colour (red or yellow). This reduces the risk of accidental damage from the high pruner.

Recommendation
Only connect the device to a power source that is protected via a residual current protective device (RCD) with a maximum release current of 30 mA.

6.3 Switching on/off
Switching on

• Hold the high pruner firmly with both hands on the handle (thumb under the handle).
• Press and hold the switch lock (Fig.11).
• Switch the high pruner on with the on/off switch (3).
  The switch lock (14) can now be released again.

Switching off

• Release the on/off switch (3). Always pull out the mains plug when discontinuing the work.

7. Working with the high pruner

7.1 Preparation

• Before each use or in case the pole-mounted pruner falls down, it is necessary to check the device carefully for wear and any possible damage. If damages are detected, then they must be repaired immediately by you or an authorised service provider. Prior to commissioning, check the following points on the pole-mounted pruner:
• Correct position of shoulder strap and inspection of the quick release mechanism
• Damage to the device like cracks on the guide rail
• Correct guide rail seating
• Installation/running direction of the problem-free (sharp) saw chain
• Saw chain tension (in case of a new chain, check and readjust this multiple times)
• Functioning chain lubrication

Condition of the high pruner
Before beginning work, inspect the high pruner for damage to the housing, the mains cable, the saw chain and the guide bar. Never use an obviously damaged
machine.

Oil tank
Fill level of the oil tank. Also check whether there is sufficient oil available while working. Never operate the saw if there is no oil or the oil level has dropped below the minimum oil level mark in order to prevent damage to the high pruner. On average, an oil filling is sufficient for 10 minutes of operation, depending on the duration of pauses and the stress.

Saw chain
Tension of the saw chain, condition of the cutters. The sharper the saw chain is, the easier and more manageable the high pruner is to operate. The same applies for the chain tension. Also check the chain tension at least once every 10 minutes while working in order to increase safety! New saw chains, in particular, tend to have a higher degree of elongation.

Protective clothing
Make absolutely sure to wear the appropriate, closefitting protective clothing, such as high pruner-protective pants, gloves and safety shoes.

Hearing protection and protective goggles
Wear a safety helmet with integrated hearing protection and a face guard. This provides protection against falling branches and recoiling branches.

Attachment of the shoulder belt
WARNING! Danger of injury! If the carrying strap is not detached promptly in an emergency, serious injuries can result.

1. Wear the shoulder belt so that it lies over the right shoulder (Fig. 12).
2. Fasten the carabiner hook on the shaft bracket on the shaft (Fig. 13).

Never carry the belt diagonally across your shoulders and chest, but rather only on one shoulder, so that you can rapidly move away from the tool in case of danger.

Safe work
The operating manual contains important instructions about how to work securely and professionally with the pole-mounted pruner so that danger can be avoided. Nevertheless, if a blockage results between the cut material and the saw chain, then shut it off immediately. Wait until the saw chain comes to a stop. Pull out the mains connector and put on cut-resistant gloves to remove the blockage.

If the guide rail (blade) is removed, then follow the instructions described in the assembly chapter.

After removing the blockage and reassembly, a test run must be completed. If vibrations or mechanical noises are detected, stop the work and contact an authorised service provider.

If this hazard occurs frequently, we recommend a training course.

• In order to ensure safe work, a maximum working angle of 60° is prescribed (Fig. 14).
• Never stand below the branch to be sawed.
• Exercise caution when sawing branches under tension or splintering wood.
• Potential risk of injury from falling branches and flying wood projectiles!
• If the machine is in operation, keep persons and animals away from the danger area.
• The machine is not protected against electric shock when coming into contact with high-voltage lines. Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 m from current carrying lines. Life-threatening danger from electric shock!
• When working on an incline, always stand above or to the side of the branch to be sawed.
• Hold the machine as close as possible to your body. By doing so, you maximise your balance.

Sawing techniques

• When removing branches, hold the machine at an angle ranging from a maximum 60° to horizontal in order to avoid being struck by a falling branch.
• Saw off the lower branches on the tree first. By doing so, it is easier for the cut branches to fall to the ground.
• At the end of the cut, the weight of the saw suddenly increases for the user, because the saw is no longer supported on the branch. There is the risk of losing control of the saw.
• Only pull the saw out of the cut with the saw chain running. By doing so, you can prevent it from getting jammed.
• Do not saw with the tip of the guide bar.
• Do not saw into thick the branch formations. This impedes the tree‘s ability to heal the wound.

Sawing off smaller branches (Fig.15)
Place the stop face of the saw on the branch. This prevents fitful movements of the saw at the beginning of the cut. Applying light pressure, guide the saw through the branch from top to bottom.

Sawing off larger and longer branches (Fig.16)
Make a relief cut when sawing larger branches.
a) First saw through 1/3 of the branch diameter from bottom to top using the top side of the guide bar.
b) Then saw from top to bottom to the first cut using the bottom side of the guide bar.
c) Saw off longer branches in sections in order to maintain control over the location of impact.

Kickback
The term kickback refers to when the saw jumps up and back. This is usually caused by the workpiece coming into contact with the guide bar tip or the clamping of the saw chain.

A kickback generates abrupt, powerful forces. Therefore, the saw usually reacts in an uncontrolled manner. The consequence is often the severe injury of the user or nearby persons

The danger of a kickback is greatest if you apply the area near the guide bar tip to a branch, because the leverage effect is greatest there. Therefore, always apply the saw as flatly as possible.

Attention!

• Always make sure that the chain tension is correct!
• Only use properly functioning high pruners!
• Only work with a saw chain sharpened according to regulations!
• Never saw with the upper edge or tip of the guide bar!
• Always hold the high pruner firmly with two hands!

Sawing wood under tension
Sawing wood which is under tension necessitates elevated
caution! Wood that is under tension and is then released from that tension when cut occasionally reacts in a completely uncontrolled manner. This can result in severe to deadly injuries. Such work may only be performed by trained specialists.

The noise pressure level must be reduced depending on use and the tasks to be completed so that the health of the operator is not impaired. The noise pressure level at the place of work can exceed 80 dB(A). In such cases the operator will require noise protection (e.g. wearing of ear protectors).

Wear hearing protection. The influence of noise can cause hearing loss.

Attention!
The vibration value will change on the basis of the area of application of the electric tool and may lie above the specified value in exceptional situations.

Warning: The actual vibration emission value present during use of the machine may deviate from the values indicated in the operating manual or by the manufacturer. In order to be exact, an appraisal of the level of strain for all work phases during actual use must be considered, e.g. the times that the tool is switched off, idling, and during which it is not in use. In this way, the level of strain may be reduced significantly during the complete working period.
If the tool is regularly, you should wear anti-vibration gloves and avoid an ambient temperature of 10°C or lower while working with it.
Create a work plan to spread the use of high-vibration tools across multiple days.
Ensure the lowest possible vibration of the device by completing regular maintenance and stable parts on the device.
Replace worn out components immediately.
The indicated vibration emission value has been measured according to a standardised testing process, and may be used for a comparison with another electrical tool.
Attention: Noise protection! Please observe the local regulations when operating your device.

9. Maintenance

Keep the pole pruner in good working order. All instructions regarding maintenance and cleaning must be carried out regularly or daily and before each use. improper maintenance, the use of nonconforming spare parts, or the removal or modification of safety devices can lead to serious damage to property or personal injury.

If the user cannot carry out this work himself, a specialist dealer must be consulted.

Attention! Always unplug the mains plug before inspection and adjustment work. Always wear work gloves when you are working on the high pruner, to avoid injuries.

To ensure long, reliable use of the pole-mounted pruner, complete the following maintenance work at regular intervals.

• Check the pole-mounted pruner for:
• loose or damaged saw chain
• loose fastening
• Wear, especially on the chain, guide rail and chain wheel.
• worn or damaged components
• properly installed and intact covers or protective devices.

Complete necessary repairs or maintenance work before using the pole-mounted pruner.

Safety devices removed for maintenance and cleaning must be attached again correctly and checked.

9.1 Replacing the saw chain and guide bar
The guide bar must be replaced if the guide

• groove of the guide bar is worn out.
• the spur wheel in the guide bar is damaged or worn out.

For this purpose, proceed as described in the chapter “Assembly of the guide bar and saw chain“!

9.2 Checking the automatic chain lubrication
Regularly check the functionality of the automatic chain lubrication in order to prevent overheating and the subsequent damage to the guide bar and saw chain associated with it. For this purpose, align the guide bar tip against a smooth surface (board, cut-in of a tree) and allow the high pruner to run. If an increasing amount of oil appears, the automatic chain lubrication functions properly. If no clear trace of oil appears, please read the appropriate information in the chapter “Fault remedy“!

If this information does not help, please contact our customer service or a similarly qualified workshop.

Attention! Do not touch the surface during the process. Maintain a sufficient safety clearance (approx. 20 cm).

9.3 Sharpening the saw chain
Effective work with the high pruner is only possible if the saw chain is in good condition and sharp. This also reduces the danger of a kickback. The saw chain can be resharpened by a specialty dealer. Do not attempt to sharpen the saw chain yourself if you do not have a suitable tool and the necessary experience.

10. Cleaning and storage

• Regularly clean the tensioning mechanism by blowing compressed air onto or cleaning it with a brush. Do not use any tools for the cleaning.
• Keep oil away from the handle in order to ensure a secure hold.
• Clean the machine as necessary with a damp cloth and a mild cleanser, if appropriate.
• If the high pruner is not used for an extended period of time, remove the chain oil from the tank. Briefly place the high pruner and the guide bar in an oil bath and then wrap it in oil paper.

Attention!

• Always replace the protective cover for transport or storage of the high pruner.
• Pull out the mains plug before cleaning.
• Never immerse the machine in water or other liquids.
• Store the high pruner in a safe and dry place and out of the reach of children.

11. Information for environmental protection/ disposal
Dispose of the machine properly after it is worn out. Disconnect the mains cable in order to prevent misuse. Do not dispose of the machine with the household waste. In the interest of environmental protection, take it to a collection point for electric machines. Your responsible local authority can provide you with addresses and operating times. Also take the packaging materials and worn out accessories to the appropriate collection points.

Do not discard electric tools in the household waste!
In accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment and its implementation in national law, waste electric tools must be collected separately for environmentally-compatible re-use.

Recycling alternative to the return invitation:
Instead of returning the electric equipment, the owner is alternatively obligated to take part in the proper recycling in the case of relinquishment of ownership. The waste equipment can also be taken to a collection facility which disposes of it in the sense of the national recycling management and waste acts. This does not pertain to the accessory parts and auxiliary equipment without electrical components accompanying the waste equipment.

12. Repair Service
Repairs to electric power tools should only be carried out by specialist electrical personnel.
Always keep the original packaging for a possibly required shipping of the tool.

13. Ordering spare parts
If you need accessories or spare parts, please contact our Service department.

When working with this tool, do not use any accessory parts other than those recommended by our company.
Otherwise the operator or others in the vicinity could suffer serious injuries, or the tool could be damaged.

The following information should be provided when ordering spare parts:

• Type of machine
• Item number of the machine

14. Fault finding

Caution!
Switch off the machine and pull out the mains plug before commencing fault finding.

Warranty period:
IKRA provides a warranty for a period of 2 years in accordance with the following conditions for defects in IKRA products that are proven to be due to a manufacturing or material defect within the warranty period. The warranty period begins with the purchase, so that the date on the original purchase receipt is decisive.

The warranty is only intended for consumers. No restriction of the legal rights of the purchaser:
The purchaser’s warranty claims arising from the purchase contract with the seller as well as statutory rights are not affected by this warranty, the claiming of the aforementioned rights is free of charge.

The warranty shall not apply or shall expire in the following cases:

• Batteries, chargers and accessories that are due to use or other natural wear
• Demonstration devices / used products
• Defects due to improper or inappropriate use, e.g. commercial use, non-observance of operating instructions, use other than for the intended purpose, lack of maintenance and care
• Defects that arise from the use of incorrect accessory parts
• Defects due to external influences, e.g. transport damage, weather damage, impact or breakage
• IKRA products on which modifications or additions have been made or which have been completely or partially dismantled
• Defects caused by incorrect voltage (mains voltage), e.g. when used abroad

• Use of force, deliberate overloading of the motor

Repairs under warranty may only be carried out by authorised workshops, otherwise the warranty shall be voided. Service addresses can be found at www.ikra.de/serviceadressen.

Enforcement of the warranty (warranty claim):
If the product does not function during the warranty period or does not function as intended for use, this is a warranty claim.
In the event of a warranty claim, IKRA shall bear the repair and material costs for defective parts.
The competent staff of the IKRA customer hotline and technical hotline are available to the purchaser for advice and assistance during the entire warranty period and can check to what extent a replacement part can remedy the defect without sending for repair.
