SETUP
- Remove everything from the packaging and hand wash the lid (1), hopper (2) and grounds bin (14) with warm soapy water. Let air dry or dry with clean cloth.
- With the hopper (2) upright and the shut-off knob (3) pointing toward the back left of the grinder, place the hopper on top of the grinder and find the point where it settles into place. Push down and rotate the hopper clockwise to center the shut-off knob and lock the hopper into place.
- Plug in the grinder.
- If using the grounds bin (14), remove the Porta Holder (6) by pulling it firmly out then insert the grounds bin. Grounds bin will rest on the scale platform (7). If using the Porta Holder and you find it needs adjustment to fit your portafilter, remove the Porta Holder, loosen screws on the back, adjust the arms’ position, then tighten screws gently.
- Reference the Grind Settings Chart below and move the lever knobs (4 & 5) up or down to set the grind size.
- Add beans to the hopper (2). Ensure bean shut-off knob (3) is in the open position. “OPEN” should be facing up.
- Select either weight (10) or time (11) mode.
- If using the grinder in weight mode, hold down the weight mode button (10) to zero the scale for first use.
- Select a preset (13) or select manual mode (12), then press Start (9) to grind.**
NOTE: Please see the full manual at baratza.com/documentation for information on error codes.
- If using Porta Holder, use grind by time mode. Weight will not register with Porta Holder in place.
- Presets 1, 2 and 3 (13) set the grinder to run to a designated weight or time and can be adjusted with the up/down arrows (8) and saved to a preset by pressing and holding that preset button. Manual mode (12) allows the grinder to run continuously after Start is pressed until Stop is pressed, 120 grams is reached if using weight mode, or 60 seconds is reached if using time mode.
