This guide is a general overview of how to install your VSSPro.

If you have any questions during install, please contact us.

WE RECOMMEND READING THE ENTIRE GUIDE BEFORE STARTING INSTALL.

  1. Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Receptacle
    a. This connector will be either 3 pins or 4 pins depending on your car.

  2. Ring Terminal for Ground

  3. Deutsch Connectors

  4. ABS Adapter
    a. This connector may look slightly different depending on your car.

  5. The first step is to mount the VSS control box into the car. We recommend mounting it underneath the dash behind the glove box on the passenger side of the car. You will want to have it accessible at first in case there is calibration needed and then you can tuck it away once install is complete. DO NOT MOUNT THE VSSPRO CONTROLLER IN THE ENGINE BAY! IT IS NOT DESIGNED TO HANDLE THE HARSH ENVIRONMENT!

  6. Attach the Ring Terminal for Ground (Item 2) to the bolt in the engine bay used for the transmission ground. Any good bolt near the Vehicle Speed Sensor will work. Make sure that this is a good metal to metal connection or there will be ground issues. You will run this connector through the car’s firewall (inside the cabin to outside in the engine bay) to make this connection. We suggest running the VSS Receptacle (Item 1) and the Ring Terminal through the firewall at the same time.

  7. Connect the Vehicle Speed Sensor Receptacle from the controller (Item 1) to your matching Vehicle Speed Sensor Plug on your car’s harness. You will run this connector through the car’s firewall (inside the cabin to outside in the engine bay) to make this connection.

  8. Connect the two Deutsch Connectors (Item 3) together. They will simply plug into each other.

  9. Run the ABS Jumper (Item 4) to the front ABS sensor on the passenger side (located on the side of the strut tower). Connect the plug from the adapter to the stock harness receptacle. Connect the receptacle from the adapter to the stock harness plug. This jumper will be in the middle of the current connection at that sensor.

  10. The install is complete! You may need to calibrate the VSSPro so it displays the speed properly on your gauge cluster.
    a. To calibrate please follow DCCDPro’s Directions: You can adjust the unit at a mid-level speed for accuracy. Something in the range of 50mph would be best.
    i. Open the top of the box. On the board there is a blue potentiometer with a brass adjustment screw on the top.
ii. Use a helper to drive and get out on some open level highway where you can check GPS accurately, preferably with the cruise on and/or a very steady speed. Let the GPS settle down to an accurate and stable speed reading.
iii. Make small adjustments with the screwdriver and give it 5 seconds to fully update the average speed (speed is updated approximately 10+ times per second). Adjust until you are happy that speed is accurate.
