QUICK INSTALLATION

Connect the CON/Remote and the CPU/Local Unit to the supplied 12V 3A power supplies.

Now connect the USB cable to a USB socket on your PC and connect the other end of the USB cable to the
LocalUnit. Connect the keyboard and mouse to the remote unit. -
Connect the local and the remote unit with a network fiber optic cable OM3

Connect one end of the DP cable to your PC and the other end to your local unit. Then connect one end of the DP cable to your monitor and the other end to your remote unit.
HAVE FUN – your KVM-tec extender will now be in use for you for many years (MTBF approx. 10 years)! Please note that the recommended length of the display port cable is maxed 1.8m should be, otherwise, a trouble-free 4K transmission is possible way is not guaranteed. If you have a monitor that has an HDMI input, please use a video adapter with 60 Hz (at 30 Hz the screen remains black). our recommendation
Please use OM3 cable to have enough bandwidth.
MEDIA4KCONNECT SIMULTANEOUS DOWNSCALING
4K sources can be viewed simultaneously in 4K and with downscaling in Full HD displayed on the remote unit. The output of the stream takes place at 4K over 10G bandwidth. The FHD video is over the second link with a bandwidth of up to 1 Gbit.The Data streams can be routed and shared independently of each other and a source can be shared on any number of screens will. J
ACCESS TO THE MAIN MENU
Use the monitor and keyboard to access the main menu.
Access to the main menu

Make sure the extenders, monitors, and computer are turned on.
Press Alt gr five times in a row. The main menu and the overview of the submenus are displayed. -
To enter a submenu, press the appropriate key or use the up and down arrow keys to navigate to the appropriate line and then press Enter.
“OSD Menu” SCREEN
In the main menu you can make the following settings by selecting the
corresponding letters:

- F Features Menu activated features
- L Switching List Switching list
- P Sharing List Sharing List
- E Log In Log In
- U Update Update firmware
- G Settings Settings
SYSTEM STATE
By pressing the “S” key or by selecting the arrow keys, you get to the status menu, where you get information about the hardware and software versions and the activated upgrades. The menu shows information about the connection, the resolution of the video channel and USB status. The current firmware version is displayed in the top left corner. The status link indicates whether a connection is possible. Video and USB show the status of data transfer .
UPDATE
- The current version of the firmware can be found at http://www.kvm-tec.com/de/support and can be downloaded. Each update file contains a detailed description of the update process. Please refer to the updated chapter for more information
- Connect the USB stick to the CON (REMOTE) Unit (wait a few seconds until the USB stick is connected to the CON Unit.)
- Then open the update menu with the “U” key.
- Press the “U” key to start the update on the Remote (CON) Unit.
- Call up the file with “S”.
- The firmware is shown on the display under “Configuration found”,
- Press the “U” key to start the update on the Remote (CON) Unit.
SETTINGS
By pressing the “G” key or by selecting the arrow keys, you get to the Settings menu, in which you can make all extender settings.
FEATURES
MENU FEATURES
Pressing the F key or selecting the arrow keys takes you to the FEATURES menu, where you can select all of the feature functions.
- P Point-to-point mode on/off
- S matrix switching mode
- E USB emulation mode
- U USB save feature
- V Uncompressed mode
- M Unlock Features – redundant or uncompressed I’m switching system
SCREEN “Menu Features”
POINT TO POINT
By pressing “P” you activate the point-to-point. By default, the remote is
connected directly to the local.
MATRIX SWITCHING SYSTEM
By pressing “S” you activate the Matrix Switching Mode
If this function is active, Mouse glide & Switch is controlled via the
Switching Manager software (see manual Switching Manager). All functions of
the switching system can be operated via the switching manager software. This

UNCOMPRESSED MODE
By pressing “V” you can activate and deactivate the uncompressed mode. As soon
as this function is activated, the KVM Extender transmits up to 4K resolution
uncompressed and in 10-bit color depth.
Please note that for this mode you need two 10G fiber optic lines between the
remote and the local unit!
UNLOCK FEATURES REDUNDANT
UNCOMPRESSED FOR SWITCHING SYSTEMS
In this menu, you can also activate the “Uncompressed” and “Redundancy”
features after purchasing your 4k KVM Extender. Order the activation code for
the desired feature from your supplier by providing the device ID and the
serial number of the 4k KVM Extender. By typing in the activation code, you
activate the desired feature. Activate the desired feature after unlocking it
in the feature menu.
