How to check the version number

  1. Press the MENU button.
  2. Press the “U” button at the bottom of the LCD screen.
  3. Press SETTING at the bottom of the LCD screen.
  4. Press the “U” button at the bottom of the LCD screen.

If you are using the CT-S500 (version 1.05 or below) or the CT-S1000V (version 1.01 or below), a firmware update is necessary.

Firmware Version 1.06 (CT-S500)/1.02 (CT-S1000V) Update Details
The changes in this version are as follows.

  • Added the ability to change the routing of MIDI IN channels 1-5 from Port C to Port A (the parts used for keyboard operation)
  • Added the ability to recall setups saved using the registration function using MIDI messages (CASIO General System Exclusive or a combination of Bank Select and Program Change messages)
  • Added the ability to load user lyric tone data, user vocalist data and lyric tone sequence data from a USB flash drive (CT-S1000V only)
  • Changed the sounding balance for each tone when played via MIDI IN or SMF
  • Improved various operations

New features in firmware version 1.06 (CT-S500)/ 1.02 (CT-S1000V)
This section outlines the functions added in this version.
Added the ability to change the routing of MIDI IN channels 1-5 from Port C to Port A (the parts used for keyboard operation)
By changing the routing of MIDI messages received on channels 1-5, it is possible to change keyboard sounds based on MIDI messages, or use MIDI note messages instead  f the keyboard to play notes. The available destinations are Port C, which is assigned to parts 33 to 37 of the sound source, and Port A, which is assigned to parts 1 to 5 of the   ound source used for keyboard sounds. MIDI messages on channels 1 to 5 correspond to parts 33 to 37 of the sound source or parts 1 to 5 of the sound source, respectively.

The following have been added to the Settings section

Mounting a USB flash drive on this Digital Keyboard creates a folder named “MUSICDAT” in the  drive’s root directory (if a MUSICDAT folder does not already exist  here). Use this folder when exchanging data between the Digital Keyboard and USB flash drive.
Supplemental: How to use Lyric Tone Sequence (CT-S1000V only)
The lyric tone sequence function allows multiple lyric tones to be linked and played together. Lyric tone sequences can be created with the “Lyric Creator” app for smart  evices. For details, refer to “Linking with a Smart Device and Using Lyric Creator” in the instrument’s User’s Guide.

  1. Transfer lyric tone sequence data from the “Lyric Creator” app or load lyric tone sequence data from a USB flash drive.
    • Refer to the app’s manual for how to transfer lyric tone sequence data from the “Lyric Creator” app.
    • For details on loading lyric tone sequence data from a USB flash drive, refer to “Loading Data From a USB Flash Drive to Digital Keyboard Memory” in the instrument’s User’s Guide.

  2. Press the LYRICS button to illuminate LYRICS LED.

  3. Confirm that “S” is displayed at the bottom of the LCD screen.
    • If “S” is not displayed, press and hold the PLAY MODE button until you see “S” appear.

  4. Play the keyboard.
    The lyric tones will sound in the order specified in the lyric tone sequence.
    • After each lyric tone has played, lyric play automatically advances to the next lyric tone in the lyric tone sequence.
    After the final lyric tone in the lyric tone sequence has played, lyric play returns to the first lyric tone of the lyric tone sequence.

The lyrics will advance as long as a keyboard key is pressed.

When another keyboard key is pressed, the next lyric tone in the lyric tone sequence will be played.

If you press a key in the middle of a phase, the next syllable in the phrase will be sounded

  • Press and hold the PLAY MODE button to toggle the lyric tone sequence function on/off. (The lyric tone sequence function cannot be turned on if it has not yet been transferred/loaded to the instrument.)
  • When the lyric tone is changed using the dial, the lyric tone sequence function is automatically turned off.
