How to use your grill

Before first use
Remove any packing materials completely.
Before switching on the appliance for the first time, clean the grill stone, grill plate and mini-pans with a damp cloth.
We recommend that you heat up the appliance and the pans for about 10 minutes, without any food, to eliminate the smell typically encountered when first switching on a grill. A small amount of smoke may also be noticeable, so the room may have to be ventilated during this period.

Grill stone

  • Fit the stone to the appliance above the heating element, with the polished side up. Ensure that the recesses on the underside of the stone fit over the rails of the frame in such a way that the stone cannot move.
  • Caution: avoid placing a cold stone onto a hot element.
  • The stone can be used for cooking vegetables, sliced meat or fish etc. as required.
  • It is entirely composed of natural material and small cracks resulting from natural expansion and contraction during heating and cooling, as well as a change to a darker colour, are normal and have no detrimental effects.
  • Do not place any frozen food or items containing vinegar (such as pickled gherkins or mustard) on the stone.

Grill plate

  • Before the appliance is switched on, position the plate on top of the appliance over the heating element with the ribbed side up.
  • The recesses on the underside must fit over the guide rails of the frame. Now move the grill plate slightly sideways to lock it, observing the markings on the plate.
  • The grill plate can be used for cooking vegetables, meat or fish.

Variable thermostat

  • The variable thermostat controls the operating time of the heating element, with the yellow indicator light showing its current operating status.
Heating element on = indicator light on Heating element off = indicator light off

  • When melting cheese or grilling, the maximum setting should be used (thermostat control all the way to the right).

  • Simply to keep food warm, the thermostat should be adjusted to a lower setting (thermostat control further to the left).

  • Turn the thermostat all the way to the left and unplug the appliance from the mains after use.

Operation

  • Place the grill plate and grill stone onto the unit as described above.
  • Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and turn the thermostat all the way to the right.
  • After a pre-heating time of about 10 minutes, the grill plate is ready for use, but the stone requires a pre-heating time of around 40 minutes.
  • Place the food to be cooked on the grill stone and plate. We recommend first applying a light coat of oil to the plate and sprinkling a little salt on the stone to prevent sticking.
  • Put the raclette cheese into the minipans and place them into the appliance under the heating element; then leave them until the cheese has melted.
  • Warning: Do not place empty mini-pans in the appliance while it is switched on, but leave them on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Turn the thermostat all the way to the left and unplug the appliance from the mains after use.

How to prepare raclette cheese
Use about 200 to 300 grammes of suitable cheese per person. Cut the cheese into slices about 3 to 5 mm thick and put them into the mini-pans. It is preferable to use original raclette cheese but any other fastmelting cheese is also suitable.

Practical hints

  • Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked.
  • To avoid damage to the coating of the mini-pans and the grill plate, use only non-abrasive utensils.

  • Take the grill plate off and clean it in warm soapy water; dry thoroughly with a soft cloth afterwards.
  • Clean the mini-pans in warm soapy water and dry them thoroughly afterwards.
  • These parts are not dish-washer safe.
